Citizen Kos
From http://backofthebook.ca/media/2009/06/theres-hope-for-internet-yet.html

There's hope for the internet yet. When Michael Jackson died, the web was quickly flooded with hoax death upon hoax death (Jeff Goldblum, Britney Spears, Billy Mays -- oh wait, that one was true). But it just as quickly self-corrected. For every iteration of a false rumour came a fusillade of Twitter and Facebook replies beating it down.

That's the power of the crowd at its worst and best. It's something Markos Moulitsas, proprietor of the allegedly progressive group blog dailykos.com, needs to get a handle on right quick. Moulitsas, who styles himself a Democrat, runs his site with all the democratic instincts of an Iranian mullah. Odd behaviour for a guy who once write a book called Crashing the Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People-Powered Politics.

In Moulitsas' case, his tyrannical talents manifest themselves in his ban on discussion of 9/11 on his site. Correction: you can discuss 9/11, but only so long as it's within the parameters set out by Mr. Big:

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not now, nor previously have I been, a member, formally or otherwise of any “9/11 truth” organizations. However, it is difficult for me to understand the animosity towards those requesting a secondary investigation.

Mockingbird agenda at Daily Kos

Markos Moulitsas, founder of the Net's leading liberal website in terms of traffic and political influence, Daily Kos, has a rather curious and odd background for a leader of the Left—one that might explain his official policy of banning any Diarist who posts information or opinion dissenting from the 9/11 Commission's unraveling myth about the attacks.

Markos served in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1992, where he was a staunch Reagan Republican, campaigning for George H.W. Bush. It was the "near miss" of being sent to Gulf War I that sparked his political conversion, he says. He hails from a wealthy El Salvadorian family, one of whose members was Minister of Education with the notorious junta during the civil war.

In a speech to the Commonwealth Club in 2006, Kos admitted to interviewing with the CIA for a 6-month period after a time of "underemployment." His statements there betray either a stunning ignorance, or sneaking sympathy with the CIA's long history of democratic subversion and support of rightist dictatorships abroad, including the one that sponsored death squads in his former homeland:

9/11 Metastasizing: the Left's Co-Dependency

by Heckler - Wed Jun 03, 2009

This may be the shortest lived Diary on Kos history, begun only one week ago, mainly in response to the banishment of Tocque DeVille. I endeavor not to stray beyond the barricades of the Rules, but if I too face exile, all I ask of Kos and Meteor Blades before the guillotine is pulled is as much thoughtful consideration of these issues as I have given them...

...But how do we explain the shocking backsliding of Obama and his majority party: indefinite detention, torture lite continuing in Gitmo and Bagram, virtual immunity for war criminals, acceptable collateral drone carnage of civilians in Pakistan and Afghanistan, escalation of the disingenuous War on Terror, not to mention the subsidization of our piratical financial class. We are still locked in the shock of 9/11, the sole justification for this endless train of abuses, usurpations, and crimes. To forswear waterboarding would be regression to a perilous “September 10th mentality,” Elizabeth Cheney assures us.

9/11 is the wellspring that keeps on gushing, fueling our fear, barbaric behavior, and coffers of the merchants of death. But if the officially sanctioned narrative of 9/11 is any way deficient—if it is a cover-up of some kind, as many credible Commission staffers, prominent academics, military and intelligence officers, architects and engineers have alleged—then we cannot continue tacitly endorsing it without very grave and perhaps fatal consequences to our republic. To censor all inquiry that reflects critically on that first, very panicked draft of history, and declare any revisionist narrative heresy, surrenders our minds to the perpetual War lobby still feeding on it.

The disillusioning betrayals by our Democratic majority should be sufficient evidence of that by now. The torture, renditions, bloodbaths and bankrupting imperialism could be extended for 10 more years, as a Pentagon general recently envisioned. The Constitution, and critical domestic initiatives, are indefinitely detained...

Daily Kos - "thousands of site users can't be wrong"

Following the posting of Inky99's blog entry, Official story of 9/11 "almost entirely untrue", a follow-up blog was posted by longtime site user, Tocquedeville, entitled, The Conspiracy Theorist Label. Despite Tocquedeville's popularity on the site, he was banned, merely for pointing out the obvious;

"The conspiracy theorist label is the cleverest tool the conspirators have come up with to deter the people from investigating and questioning their (the people's) own government.

The truth is, the greatest threat to our national security is not an external foe, but the secrecy of our own government. Secrecy mis-justified by the claim that it is in the interest of national security. How convenient for the profiteers of the national security state."

Although Tocquedeville ultimately relies on the blowback hypothesis, his opening comment is 100% valid, and true. Now, user Bidet has posted this; Daily Kos diarist, Tocquedeville, has been banned. This diary is a petition to get him unbanned. Inky99's blog garnered over 1000 comments, the same as Tocquedeville's diary. However, the diary entry calling for the reinstatement of Tocquedeville has collected over 2500 comments as of 0622 Central Time today, and the poll has over 8200 votes, with a 2 to 1 majority asking for the unbanning of Tocquedeville.

Official story of 9/11 "almost entirely untrue"

by Inky99 - Sat May 16, 2009

Now, before you get your panties in a bunch, this is about a new book, titled "The Ground Truth: The Story Behind America's Defense on 9/11".

And before you get all outraged (The FAQ! The FAQ!), here is the author of the book, John Farmer:

John Farmer served as Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission, where his areas of responsibility included assessing the national response to the terrorist attacks and evaluating the current state of national preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters, he also served as attorney general of New Jersey (1999-2002), as chief counsel to Governor Whitman, and as a federal prosecutor. He recently served as a subject matter/rule of law expert on security to the special envoy for Middle East regional security. He is currently a partner of a New Jersey law form and an adjunct professor of national security law at Rutgers University Law School. His editorials and articles have appeared in "The New York Times" and elsewhere

And my diary title are the words of Farmer's publisher, Houghton Mifflin...

'It's up to you now': Sheehan quits

I was at first going to highlight specific segments of this article in bold letters but have decided instead to endorse the whole thing. It certainly serves as a wake-up call to all activists -- both of anti-war AND 9/11 truth.

'It's up to you now': Sheehan quits

By ANGELA K. BROWN, Associated Press Writer

Cindy Sheehan, the soldier's mother who galvanized an anti-war movement with her monthlong protest outside President Bush's ranch, said Tuesday she's done being the public face of the movement.

"I've been wondering why I'm killing myself and wondering why the Democrats caved in to George Bush," Sheehan told The Associated Press while driving from her property in Crawford to the airport, where she planned to return to her native California.

"I'm going home for awhile to try and be normal," she said.

In what she described as a "resignation letter," Sheehan wrote in her online diary on the "Daily Kos" blog: "Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it.

Kos gets pissed off.

Maybe this is the time and opportunity we needed to push Kos of DailyKos over the hump of 9/11 Truth. He has found out that the Democrats aren't going to effectively end this war and he is pissed off about it. Maybe we can make him aware of what most of us already know: 9/11 Truth Ends War. Here is a sample of his latest blog entry:

End of the war - http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/5/24/142312/462

I've never been under any illusion that this war would end before the next Democratic president took charge. But when a party wins control of Congress on ending the war, I thought they would at least work to make that happen.

That way, they'd show the American people that hey -- these guys will really fight for what they were elected to do!

And that's why today is so disappointing. Congressional Democrats made a promise to force change in Iraq. Had they done their job, Bush would've found a way around it -- signing statements, ignoring them, spurring a drawn-out Constitutional crisis, whatever.

But at least people would have a clear distinction between the Bush party, and those trying to clean up the mess.

Screw Loose Change calls on Daily Kos to fight 9/11 Truth

A blogger at Daily Kos has repeated an invitation from Screw Loose Change to enlist liberal bloggers in the fight against 9/11 Truth. The blog by "kia ora" (snippets below) reflects the split personality of liberal Democrats on this issue:

"This is actually quite humorous:

A website calling itself 'Screw Loose Change' which is dedicated to challenging a popular 9/11 video 'Loose Change', has posted a call to Markos, Kossacks and liberal bloggers everywhere to actively fight and debunk those questioning the official story on 9/11."
......
"Why exactly does the official story need defending? Didn't we have a 9/11 Commission to take care of all the questions? I mean we know Kean and Hamilton admit that it was a whitewash, but still is this really necessary?"
......
"But the big question here is why would he call on Kossacks specifically to defend the official story? Is it simply because of the 'no 9/11 CT diaries' rule here or does he really think most of us here believe the official story?"

911Blogger.com Wins DailyKos Fund Raiser for 1 Minute of Airtime on Air America's Sam Seder Show

In an interesting and somewhat ironic twist, tonight 911blogger.com won a bid for 1 minute of airtime on Air America Radio - specifically on 'The Sam Seder Show'.

'The Sam Seder Show' is a progressive radio show which airs weekdays from 9am to noon weekdays on Air America, and which I frequently listen to on my lunch break. Sam routinely hosts leaders of the 'progressive blogosphere' on his show including Markos - the founder of dailykos.com, and the sponsor of the 1 minute give away. The contest (details here) was part of a fund raiser for their YearlyKos Convention - which is where the 'ironic' part comes in.

There have been numerous visitors of this site who have had run-ins on DailyKos when discussing 9/11. Most notably a number of users here have been banned for not following the rules specifically laid out regarding 9/11 in the DailyKos FAQ. While some blog entries regarding 9/11 have received overwhelming support by their community, 9/11 is rarely a topic of any real focus, and more frequently the cause of banning other 'progressives' who are perhaps a bit too progressive.

This 1 minute spot on Air America will be a chance for the 9/11 community to have the ear of not only Air America listeners, but the owner of DailyKos and the larger 'progressive blogosphere' as well. It is my intention to use this spot to direct a message at these groups in regards to their overall handling of 9/11 news. While Markos has commented on being called a 'gatekeeper' before, it is time that criticisms of these 'progressives' in regards to their handling of 9/11 news be given a voice - if only for 60 seconds.

So, if you had 1 minute to say whatever you wanted on Air America, what would you say? What news do you think they should have covered and didn't? What changes would you like to see happen regarding the 'left' and the discussion of 9/11? Post some quick thoughts, or perhaps write up an actual script - just be sure it would fit in 1 minute. We will be checking out ideas and coming up with our 1 minute spot over the next week or so and we will post new details as they come up.

It is worth noting that this year's YearlyKos in August will be in Chicago, recent home to a major 9/11 convention. We hope that many will make plans to attend this event to make the voice of the 9/11 community heard - whether from the inside or from the outside of their community.

A big thanks to everyone who chipped in to our advertising fund raiser, we hope that this use of the funds will have a large bang for their buck!

Senator Bob Graham Said Two 9/11 Hijackers had Direct Ties to Saudi Intelligence

Left gatekeeper site Daily Kos finally posted as a "Recommended Diary" -- that is, one that gets widely read -- another 9/11 post. Perhaps not as earth-shaking as we would like, but its a start, especially since it touches on dirty tricks in general and the need to "cut out the roots, the methods and 'off the books' operations". The article doesn't use the term "false flag", but it hints at it.

PROBE THIS: Sen Bob Graham said two 9/11 hijackers had direct ties to Saudi intelligence

and this was in the 27 classified pages of the Joint Congressional Inquiry.

Before you mentally shunt this off to the conspiracy theory ghetto, consider how badly the Bushies want their war with Iran, Cheney's recent trip to see the Saudis, and America's vulnerability to being hoodwinked by convenient boogeymen again.

Democrats need to dig deep enough to cut out the roots, the methods and "off the books" operations, that the far right has used to yank our collective change and will surely use again when they think we'll fall for it and it's to their advantage.
