Muslim School Children - Teachers reluctant to discuss 9/11

Teachers are reluctant to discuss the September 11 attacks on America because they fear it will provoke racism and Islamaphobia in class, according to a survey. Those in schools with high numbers of Muslim children are particularly concerned about talking about the atrocity - despite it being arguably the defining event of the 21st century so far.

Alison Kitson, faculty director at the Institute of Education at London University, which carried out the survey, said teachers should "grasp the nettle" and tackle the subject. They should credit children with more maturity, she said.

Four in five teachers (81 per cent) said that when teaching the topic, it was a challenge to break "students' stereotypes and prejudices about other cultures".

The academics polled almost 200 teachers across the country and also visited eight schools: four in London, and one each in Leeds, Worcestershire, Oxford and Surrey.

At two schools, teachers showed "serious resistance" to raising the subject, while in another there was "some resistance" from staff. Continued

Glenn Beck's Love-Hate Relationship With 9/11 Truthers

Glenn Beck's Love-Hate Relationship With 9-11 Truthers

Glenn Beck has been very hard on 9-11 truthers the past couple of days. He's been beating up on one person in particular, who, as it turns out, isn't actually a truther -- Van Jones.

On Wednesday, Beck said this:

BECK: They may not know the last one, you know, because they didn't know Van Jones was a 9/11 truther, you know? I mean, should we expect the White House to distance himself from Lerner since, you know, he's plotting economic terrorism? I don't know. Maybe we should tell him he's a 9/11 truther. Maybe then they'll distance themselves.

Let me ask you this: Who is letting people in the White House? We had the 9/11 truther who I point out a bigger problem was he was a communist. And now, we got a guy who is plotting economic terrorism. Who else is going through the door of the White House?

And yester

While conservative broadcaster Glenn Beck is holding his rally on the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, the same location where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historic “I have a dream” speech, and on the anniversary date of this speech, it is important for us to remind our readers of what Glenn Beck has said regarding the 9/11 victims and their families.

This is an audio excerpt from Beck's radio show which aired on September 9, 2005 in which he also rants against the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

Beck's guest, Larry Schweikart, makes bizarre claim

The Glenn Beck Show on Fox yesterday, July 9th, was entitled "Restoring History." Beck's guests were two history professors including Larry Schweikart from Dayton University, author of several books including Seven Events That Made America America. The first statement made by Schweikart was a bizarre claim:

Schweibart: It's what Progressives do. They reshape the past in order to make policies for the present. That's the definition of historicism ... brought over from Germany. Let's change history, so we can justify what we want to do in the present.

Once again, Professor Ross' Lesson 8 (see What is the truth about Glenn Beck) kicked in: "...I think we can tell errors where we cannot tell what is true (too complex, too subtle, too controversial)."

One day after Republican candidate for governor Debra Medina’s insurgent campaign hit a speed bump, she’s striking back. After comments on Glenn Beck’s radio show Thursday that seemed to support 9/11 conspiracy theories, she says she was set up by her opponents.

Corporate Media Smears Medina For Expressing View Shared By Majority Of Americans

The attack dog corporate media, in cahoots with loathsome phony neo-con crybaby Glenn Beck, are once again attempting to manufacture reality by smearing Debra Medina for expressing a view shared by the vast majority of Americans in an effort to purge her from the Texas gubernatorial race.

Fox News blowhard Glenn Beck attempted to set up Medina on his radio show yesterday by asking her if she believed the U.S. government was involved in 9/11.

“I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard,” Medina said. “There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that.”

Debra Medina didn't answer a question about 911 in a typical, I'm an American by Gawd soundbite and BAM! Her opponents and talking heads went berserk with faux outrage. Her campaign is over!, they cried. She's toast!, they bellowed. She's a loony toon Ron Paul-ite!, they typed. Her character is flawed!, they spoke. Why, she thinks that the gubmint killed 3,000 Americans!, they commented. The truth is that Debra Medina did make a mistake in the way she answered a question from Glenn Beck. But the whole truth is that a mistake in answering was all it was. Debra Medina isn't a kook, a nut, a fruitcake, a loon, an anti-Semite (yeah, one local blogger, an "intellectual", actually raised that one) - she's none of those. She is, however, a fairly inexperienced politician that tends to over-think questions and does allow those surrounding her to influence her thought processes.

Debra Medina, Texas Republican Gubernatorial Candidate, Questions 9/11 and then Backs Off Under Pressure

We have all seen it before. We have seen it with the two "Vans" - Van Romero and Van Jones. After openly questioning the official story, they then "recant."

This story is currently on the front page of Google News with many outlets covering it.

In a nutshell: Debra Medina has apparently questioned 9/11 before, and Glenn Beck knew about it. He confronted Medina about it on his radio show.

Glenn Beck interviews/attacks Debra Medina/911 Truth movement: Candidate Medina fails to take a firm stand---or even make her position crystal clear--- on 911 Truthers. In a major failure to explain herself, she leaves Mr. Beck and his staff laughing as he brushes her off the phone line. Alex Jones, one of the supporters of candidate Medina, must be disappointed that Debra Medina---whom is normally a strong & vocal individual--- so weakly stood up against Mr. Beck on the 911 Truth issue. Maybe it's time for Mr. Jones to challenge Mr. Beck to a one-on-one debate.

Glenn Beck Says Truth Activists in the White House Threaten Obama’s Life

The grand master Mockingbird operative Glenn Beck said today on his nationally syndicated radio show that there are 9/11 truth activists in the White House and they threaten the life of Obama. “He has invited 9/11 truthers into the White House and into his administration… he is in danger.”

Beck said Obama should never be left alone and the Secret Service needs to pay special attention to this absurd threat.

In fact, there are no 9/11 truth activists in the White House.

Beck’s comment is apparently a reference to Obama’s “green jobs” adviser Van Jones who signed a petition in 2004 calling for an investigation into the Bush administration’s knowledge of an impending attack. Jones resigned from his position as Special Adviser in September 2009 after WorldNetDaily, Americans for Prosperity, and other groups criticized his membership in a socialist group and support for the convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal who is serving a life sentence.

The truth about 9/11

Published: June 20, 2009

I read with interest the letter from William Rice about 9/11 and the subsequent response from a reader to Rice's observations that discount all the facts that he presented. 9/11 discussions on op-ed pages rarely go well. One writer will offer an observation and then another will claim that observation to be absurd. This was exactly the case last week. No matter what fact you may present that shows the official version of events to be dubious, you will almost certainly be called a conspiracy theorist, or worse. TV personality and Fox News commentator Glenn Beck recently lumped those of us who claim to be part of the 9/11 Truth Movement in the same category as James W. Von Brunn, the man accused of murdering a guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. It's a strange leap of logic, but 9/11 discussions rarely elicit logical thinking.
