Editor’s Note: In this modern age – and especially since George W. Bush declared the “war on terror” eight years ago – the price for truth-telling has been high, especially for individuals whose consciences led them to protest the torture of alleged terrorists.

One of the most remarkable cases is that of Craig Murray, a 20-year veteran of the British Foreign Service whose career was destroyed after he was posted to Uzbekistan in August 2002 and began to complain about Western complicity in torture committed by the country’s totalitarian regime, which was valued for its brutal interrogation methods and its vast supplies of natural gas.

A traitor is one with allegiance to the US who wages war against the United States. Lying the American public into war that takes trillions in long-term costs and kills over 5,000 US troops is treason. US political “leaders” who wage illegal and horrific Wars of Aggression, the worst crime a nation can commit, are actively attacking our Constitution and values. Neither political party will prosecute these crimes.

So what do we do?

If I’m successful in proving that the current US wars are TRAITOROUS, UN-AMERICAN, and COWARDLY, please take that description and run with it. Let’s look:

TRAITOROUS: The etymology of “treason” is the Latin “traditionem and traditio, a surrender of what is handed over or one’s tradition (tradition having an ironic doublet of the root). In US law, it is defined as “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies.” What is the United States other than the US Constitution and our laws? If someone swears allegiance to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and uses authority and force (levies) against the Constitution, that is rationally defined as treason. If acts against the Constitution cause US troops to be attacked, the meaning of treason has tangible war-like and enemy-like results against the United States.

US national security IS NOT threatened by Afghanistan

The wars formerly known as “Terror” were not in response to any documented national security threat from Iraq, Afghanistan, or Iran. In fact, all 16 US intelligence agencies have repeated that THERE IS NO NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT from any of the nations the US has illegally invaded or threatened to invade.

Given all US intelligence agencies agree there is no national security threat, and the rules of war demand a nation be either under attack or imminent threat, or authorized by the UN Security Council to use force, President Obama and the “leadership” of both parties continue impeachment-level lies to the American public in ongoing Wars of Aggression.

Iraq and Afghanistan don't need US troops for security. They can ask the UN if they want help

One of the arguments for US troops to remain in the two countries we invaded is that even if our wars were mistakes, it’s our duty to stay until those countries can manage their own security. If US troops leave, we’ll subject civilians to escalating violence.

As eminent Princeton philosopher Harry Frankfurt distinguished in his 2005 Bestseller as a strictly academic term, that rhetoric is bullshit.

When political “leadership” makes that argument, it’s a lie of omission. Without the comprehensive information that Iraq and Afghanistan have full authority within their governments to make that determination for themselves, that statement is misleading Americans into thinking that US security is their only option. It is not.

Some Americans justify the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well-intended interventions for the good of their people, and the security of our nation and the world. They believe that the President MUST have had evidence of national security risk before taking the last and dire step of invasion.

This is a crucial point. If there was credible evidence of imminent threat to US national security, then the wars were justified under the UN Charter for self-defense. However, if the evidence was not credible, or fabricated, then these wars are illegal Wars of Aggression. So which is it?

Americans and the world no longer need BELIEVE anything; the specific evidence used to justify invading two countries is now public knowledge. All we have to do is match the government's claims to the exact evidence and you can decide for yourself. This article lays it out.
