Martin Luther King Jr.

Rev. Dr. James Lawson, who MLK Jr. called “leading theorist and strategist of nonviolence in the world,” on Satyagraha

On July 20, 2009, Rev. Dr. James Lawson and Dr. John G. Cobb Jr. participated in a panel discussion at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles entitled, “War, Violence and Religion: A Dialogue and Call to Action.”  The conversation was wide-ranging and, often, quite profound, but I was left wanting for discussion about the role of lies and deception in the historical orchestration and ongoing cultivation of wars.

Speaking with Dennis Prager on 4/4/08 about the deeper and more disturbing aspects of MLK's truth-telling and his murder

I decided to call the Dennis Prager show, in honor of the 40th anniversary of MLK's death, to bring up his "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence" speech, delivered a year to the day before he was killed in Memphis. I also wanted to tie in the 1999 trial of Lloyd Jowers litigated by William Pepper on behalf of the King Family. Prager wanted nothing to do with the conspiracy trial part, other than cheap psychological shots at those who can't deal with the fact that "low-life" nothings like James Earl Ray and Lee Harvey Oswald can effect major evil. He was fairly dismissive and patronizing of the King family's struggle to uncover the truth. Afterwards, he gave a thorough response to King's claim that his own government was the "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today."

MLK - 40 years of Disinfo

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

I have summarized Dr. William F. Pepper's 1999 Trial, and the associated videos on disinfo in the media, and posted it at DemocraticUnderground.com:

"Governmental agencies caused Martin Luther King to be assassinated... They caused this whole thing to happen. And they then proceeded with the powerful means at their disposal to cover this case up. This is a conspiracy... and that's a nasty word. People insult people in this country who use the word "conspiracy." Nowhere else in the world, as Bill Schaap told you, is it viewed that way. In Italy and France conspiracy is taken for granted because they have lived with it so much longer...

What we're asking you to do at this point in time is send a message. We're asking you to send a message, not just right a wrong. That's important, that you right a wrong and that you allow justice to prevail once and for all. Let it prevail. Let justice and truth prevail, else the heavens fall. No matter what, let it prevail. Let it come forward. We're asking you to let that happen. But in addition to that, we're asking you to send a message, send a message to all of those in power, all of those who manipulate justice in this country that you cannot get away with this. Or if you can get away with it, you can only get away with it for so long."

- Dr. William F. Pepper, closing argument, King Family v. Loyd Jowers and Other Unknown Co-conspirators, December 8, 1999.

For the first time since 1999, Americans and people around the world get to see what happened at the end of a trial that spanned three weeks, and produced many witnesses, some of which had never even been interviewed before. This 10-part series consists of the closing argument presented to the Jury, and summarizes the case against the true murderers of Dr. King.

(Please feel free to post the YouTube links far and wide. -rep.)

This is highly recommended viewing for those people trying to understand how it is that the truth of certain events, like 9/11, can be so successfully spun into something completely different by the people who want to make it so.

In this 8-part series Dr. William F. Pepper leads the co-publisher of Covert Action Quarterly, William Schaap, through a history of US Government Approved disinformation, beginning with examples in WWI and then WWII, when things really began to take off. The techniques of disinformation that the government employed during war-time were carried over into peace-time under the aegis of the Cold War. Schaap sites specific examples of CIA and FBI disinformation, concluding with Hoover's FBI attacks on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Video Exclusive: Dr. William F. Pepper Opens the MLK Conspiracy Trial - November 16, 1999

Part One of Two

Part Two of Two

"In answer to the question did Loyd Jowers participate in a conspiracy to do harm to Dr. Martin Luther King, your answer is yes. Do you also find that others, including governmental agencies, were parties to this conspiracy as alleged by the defendant? Your answer to that one is also yes".

Honorable James E. Swearengen, Judge presiding.
The Circuit Court of Shelby County, Tennessee, 30th Judicial District at Memphis, December 8th, 1999

This is the verdict that the jury arrived at, after a trial that started on November 16, 1999. The King family praised the verdict in a press conference the next day;

"There is abundant evidence of a major high level conspiracy in the assassination of my husband, Martin Luther King, Jr. And the civil court's unanimous verdict has validated our belief. I wholeheartedly applaud the verdict of the jury and I feel that justice has been well served in their deliberations. This verdict is not only a great victory for my family, but also a great victory for America. It is a great victory for truth itself. It is important to know that this was a SWIFT verdict, delivered after about an hour of jury deliberation. The jury was clearly convinced by the extensive evidence that was presented during the trial that, in addition to Mr. Jowers, the conspiracy of the Mafia, local, state and federal government agencies, were deeply involved in the assassination of my husband. The jury also affirmed overwhelming evidence that identified someone else, not James Earl Ray, as the shooter, and that Mr. Ray was set up to take the blame. I want to make it clear that my family has no interest in retribution. Instead, our sole concern has been that the full truth of the assassination has been revealed and adjudicated in a court of law. As we pursued this case, some wondered why we would spend the time and energy addressing such a painful part of the past. For both our family and the nation, the short answer is that we had to get involved because the system did not work. Those who are responsible for the assassination were not held to account for their involvement. This verdict, therefore, is a great victory for justice and truth. It has been a difficult and painful experience to revisit this tragedy, but we felt we had an obligation to do everything in our power to seek the truth. Not only for the peace of mind of our family but to also bring closure and healing to the nation. We have done what we can to reveal the truth, and we now urge you as members of the media, and we call upon elected officials, and other persons of influence to do what they can to share the revelation of this case to the widest possible audience. I know that this has been a difficult case for everyone involved. I thank the jury and Judge Swearengen for their commitment to reach a just verdict, I want to also thank our attorneys, Dr. William Pepper and his associates for their hard work and tireless dedication in bringing this case to justice. Dr. Pepper has put many years of his life, as well as his financial resources, into this case. He has made significant personal sacrifices to pursue the search for the truth about my husband's assassination..."

Over the past few weeks I have had the privilege to review footage of this trial, which is a groundbreaking trial, and should be a famous trial due to the implications of the verdict. With Dr. Pepper's permission, I will be loading three key segments from the trial onto the web, for people to see how Dr. Pepper goes about his business. The first segment, (already loaded), is the opening statement, which sets the tone for the plaintiff's case.

Martin King's Letter From Birmingham Jail

This letter is dedicated to those of you in the 9/11 Truth Movement who mistakenly believe we can achieve more success more quickly - by cooling our heels.

April 16, 1963

MY DEAR FELLOW CLERGYMEN:

While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities "unwise and untimely." Seldom do I pause to answer criticism of my work and ideas. If I sought to answer all the criticisms that cross my desk, my secretaries would have little time for anything other than such correspondence in the course of the day, and I would have no time for constructive work. But since I feel that you are men of genuine good will and that your criticisms are sincerely set forth, I want to try to answer your statements in what I hope will be patient and reasonable terms.

I think I should indicate why I am here In Birmingham, since you have been influenced by the view which argues against "outsiders coming in." I have the honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization operating in every southern state, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. We have some eighty-five affiliated organizations across the South, and one of them is the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights. Frequently we share staff, educational and financial resources with our affiliates. Several months ago the affiliate here in Birmingham asked us to be on call to engage in a nonviolent direct-action program if such were deemed necessary. We readily consented, and when the hour came we lived up to our promise. So I, along with several members of my staff, am here because I was invited here I am here because I have organizational ties here.

Dr. William F. Pepper: The New York City Ballot Initiative & the Re-investigation of 9/11 By an Independent Citizens Commission

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and to mark the occasion, here is a new article by Dr. William F. Pepper, a man whose research into the assassination of Dr. King is very well-regarded by a growing number of people. William Pepper's book, An Act of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King presents the fruits of his research, which culminated in a very successful trial by jury in Memphis, Tennessee. (This review by David T. Ratcliffe is an excellent summary of the book, and communicates the importance of the trial: The Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Was An Act of State.) Dr. Pepper has made himself available for a new investigation, this time regarding the events of 9/11. In this short piece penned for 911blogger, Pepper makes the case for the NYC 911 Ballot Initiative, and calls on all of us to help make it happen. With Dr. William Pepper on board, this initiative truly has the potential to be historic. - rep.

The New York City Ballot Initiative and the
Re-investigation of 9/11 By an
Independent Citizens Commission
By William F. Pepper

Many, deeply concerned citizens of this Republic and the world have been engaged in tireless, multifaceted research and investigation about the events surrounding the 9/11 tragedy. These patriots have produced articles, essays, books and films which seek to answer the multitude of unanswered questions about this atrocity. Not having researched these questions myself and having no answers, when I have appeared before them I have encouraged the continuation of their valuable work as citizens of the Republic. I have also advised these patriots to be wary of disinformation and provocative irrationality in their midst.

In their numbers are distinguished scientists, engineers, architects, professional people from all walks of life and families of victims who seek closure. Amongst the latter are the colloquially named “Jersey Girls” (Lorie, Mindy, Patty and Monica) for whose courage, determination, intelligence and steadfastness, I have boundless admiration. They propounded 125 questions to the Kean/Hamilton Commission; one was answered. In fact, it was largely as a result of their efforts and those of other victims’ families that a Commission was established in the first place over the initial opposition of the Bush administration.

The failure of that Commission to seek, even address the critical questions is now a part of contemporary history. Former Georgia Senator, Max Cleland, resigned early on in disgust citing official obstruction. More recently, Co-Chairmen, Kean and Hamilton, have themselves declared their awareness that their work was obstructed and denied valuable information, materials and evidence. Consequently, there is overwhelming agreement that the initial government sponsored investigation was a failure in respect of bringing truth about 9/11 to the light of day.

Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - Jan 21, 2008

Today we celebrate the life of one of the greatest activists in American History. People often ask us, "If elements within our own govt had a hand in 9/11, why do they let you live?". The simple answer is, It is true one can become more powerful in death, than life. The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his work, those he effected in his time and for generations to come, will live on forever.

Today is a great day to take some time and learn about a man who saw something very wrong with the world and stood up to say, Enough is Enough!, and literally changed the world....

"He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it. "

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. "
