Cheney Speech Reportedly Refers To 9/11 25 Times

I can guarantee that Osama Bin Laden hasn't used 9/11 as much as Dick Cheney has. - Jon

Former Vice President Dick Cheney continued his unprecedented attack on a young presidential administration Wednesday.

Even though Cheney’s predecessor, former Vice President Al Gore, waited a few years before hitting the Bush Administration, the media made sure to remind viewers that such instances were rare, and many hinted that he was wrong to do so, despite waiting. Meanwhile, Cheney, whose popularity ranks lower than most politicians past and present and who may conceivably face future charges for his role in countless alleged illegal acts and decisions, continues to garner tons of attention from the press.

Cheney’s speech at the American Enterprise Institute entitled “Keeping America Safe” - which began after President Obama’s speech ended though it was scheduled before - is garnering live coverage on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News Channel.

Rep. Jim Gerlach Intends "To Support" The James Zadroga 9/11 Health And Compensation Act

Dated 4/3/2009

Dear Jonathan:

Thank you for contacting me with your support for H.R. 847, the proposed James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2009. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

As you may know, H.R. 847 would, if enacted, provide medical treatment and compensation to first responders, construction workers, local residents and others who became ill as a result of exposure to Ground Zero toxins after the attacks of September 11, 2001. The bill would re-open the Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) in order to provide compensation to the responders and community members whose illnesses did not manifest until after the VCF deadline.

H.R. 847 was introduced by Representative Carolyn Maloney of New York on February 4, 2009 and was referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and the Judiciary. Although I am not a Member of either of these Committees, please know that I intend to support the bill should it come before the full House for a vote.

Again, thank you for contacting me with your views on this issue. If I can be of help to you or your family in the future, please let me know.

Phil Shenon, Your Presence Is Requested

Phil, you and I have corresponded on several occasions, and I have found you to be a relatively nice guy. For those who don't know, Phil Shenon covered the 9/11 Commission for the New York Times. He recently released a book entitled, "The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation" that cites many of the problems with the 9/11 Commission. He also runs a blog available here.

Recently, you wrote an article regarding the 9/11 Commission's reliance on testimony gotten through torture, and I commend you for that.

Several times in my correspondence with you, I have asked why hasn't the New York Times run a front page story on the problems with the official account and each time, I haven't gotten an answer.

Just making you aware of this. Please don't ask me why this is considered to be "disinformation." Thanks.

Powell Aide: Cheney First Approved Torture To Tie Iraq, Al-Qaeda

If you are in the 9/11 Truth Movement, you may have heard someone ask "if they pulled it off to go to war with Iraq, then why didn't they get Iraqis on the planes?" Now you can tell them, because they didn't need them to be Iraqis. All they had to do was torture people to get the connection that they wanted. It also didn't hurt to have a media willing to parrot whatever the Administration wanted them to (read Fact #'s 12, and 27). - Jon

The chief of staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell says that the Bush Administration authorized torture of detainees before even rendering a legal opinion on the practice — and that they sought to torture detainees in an effort to produce intelligence tying Iraq to al Qaeda.

FBI Dispute: Court Clears Way For FBI Agent's Book, But Retired Colleague Calls It A Hollow Victory

Colleague says he sees little hope for reform at FBI

When a federal judge last week chastised the FBI for its heavy-handed efforts to silence two Chicago agents, it appeared as if the agents had won a long and hard-fought victory.

For seven years, they battled their bosses to get out their message that the FBI bungled terrorism investigations and was ill-equipped to prevent another terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

The judge cleared the way for publication of a book by FBI agent Robert Wright Jr. and release of other information from Wright and John Vincent that could prove embarrassing to the bureau.

But Vincent, a retired FBI terrorism agent, said Wednesday that theirs was a hollow victory because the bureau delayed the book's publication for so long.

"Sadly, we accomplished nothing," Vincent said. "The bureau prevented the book from being published, violated our rights and now is free to do it to the next agent."

Report: Much Of 9/11 Commission's Findings Cite Intelligence Garnered By Torture

I don't know why Rawstory is treating this like "news." It has been known for a long time. Read Fact #31 of my article, "The Facts Speak For Themselves." I am happy though that they mention the September 11th Advocates call for a new investigation. - Jon

Much of the material cited in the 9/11 Commission’s findings was derived from terror war detainees during brutal CIA interrogations authorized by the Bush administration, according to a Wednesday report.

“More than one-quarter of all footnotes in the 9/11 Report refer to CIA interrogations of al Qaeda operatives subjected to the now-controversial interrogation techniques,” writes former NBC producer Robert Windrem in The Daily Beast. “In fact, information derived from the interrogations was central to the 9/11 Report’s most critical chapters, those on the planning and execution of the attacks.”

9/11 Commission Staffer Email: "The White House is misleading the public about the extent of their cooperation."

Here is an internal 9/11 Commission e-mail from staffer Warren Bass calling a claim by White House press spokesman Scott McClellan that the administration was co-operating fully "flatly untrue." DoD Inspector General's Reports Within The Last 5/6 Years May Have Been Cover-Ups

Jon Gold
5/7/2009

Today, Rawstory reported on New York Times columnist Frank Rich, and his belief that the Defense Department Inspector General's office's investigations over the years may have been cover-ups that were "carried out in response to "orders from above." He said that any report "over the past five or six years during the war in Iraq" may be suspect, and that "there may be a much bigger story here."

Really?

Sibel Edmonds: In Congress We Trust...NOT

The former FBI translator and whistleblower suggests blackmail may be at the heart of Congressional refusal to bring accountability and oversight to its own members - such as both Hastert and Harman - in matters of espionage and national security

I have been known to quote long-dead men in my past writings. Whether eloquently expressed thoughts by our founding fathers, or those artfully expressed by ancient Greek thinkers, these quotes have always done a better job starting or ending my thoughts - that tend to be expressed in long winding sentences. For this piece I am going to break with tradition and start with an appropriate quote from a living current senator, John Kerry: "It's a sad day when you have members of Congress who are literally criminals go undisciplined by their colleagues. No wonder people look at Washington and know this city is broken."

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Jon Gold
4/28/2009

Have you ever heard of the boy that cried wolf? If not, here is the story.

There once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"

The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.

"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.

Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away.

When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO wolf!"

But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.

Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"
