9/11 Commission Staffer Email: "The White House is misleading the public about the extent of their cooperation."

Here is an internal 9/11 Commission e-mail from staffer Warren Bass calling a claim by White House press spokesman Scott McClellan that the administration was co-operating fully "flatly untrue." Thank you to Kevin Fenton of www.historycommons.org for showing this to me. The source link is blurry. I have uploaded the downloaded/clear version for you to download.

The full text of the email:

From today's White House press conference: "This administration has provided unprecedented cooperation to the 9-11 commission," McClellan said. "It provided access to every single bit of information that they have requested."

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this is flatly untrue. We are missing half of the EOF 5 material and more than a fifth of my Bush NSC notes. Moreover, the vast majority of the EOF 5 delivery made recently is material specifically requested in EOF 2 and 3, due back in June 2003 and August 2003 respectively.

The White House is misleading the public about the extent of their cooperation. I'd hate for us to join in.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

"flatly untrue"- and double-plus ungood

the email is dated March 9, 2004 and refers to docs due 7 and 8 months prior. Is this another situation where McClellan went and checked with White House Staff and relied on their fraudulent assertions for his public statements?

Why in the world would the Bush Administration be making "flatly untrue" public statements about their "unprecedented cooperation", when it was stonewalling the whole way- if they had nothing to hide, and nothing to fear from public opinion?

The report was published in July 2004- I'm curious whether the 9/11 Commission EVER received these documents- whether they did or not will likely be coming out at some point.
