Editor’s Note: As the nation and the world face 18 more months of George W. Bush’s presidency, a chilling prospect is that Bush – confronted with more defeats and reversals – might just “lose it” and undertake even more reckless military adventures.

In this special memorandum, the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) collaborated with psychiatrist Justin Frank, author of Bush on the Couch, to assess the potential dangers and possible countermeasures available to constrain Bush:

Recent events have put a great deal more pressure on President George W. Bush, who has shown little regard for the constitutional system bequeathed to us by the Founders. Having bragged about being commander in chief of the “first war of the 21st century,” one he began under false pretenses, success in Iraq is now a pipedream.

I am a huge fan of Ray McGovern's. He has one of the keenest intellects I've ever seen, and his insight into what's going on in our country, and in our world is incredibly valuable. You may remember that I questioned Ray and Scott Ritter last summer. I also questioned Ray during the 2004 9/11 People's Commission in Washington D.C., and defended him when the PNAC News attacked him. I was so proud of Ray when he confronted Rummy. So much so, I made a "tribute" to him. A lot of info there. - Jon

It has been gratifying to see the focus on terrorism and airline security since the publication of Unsafe At Any Altitude last October. Congress, which created the bipartisan disaster that is TSA, is finally asking a few hard questions about how TSA is so inferior to the tens of thousands of private screeners who were sacked after 9/11 in exchange for the nearly 50,000 feds we now have.

In tests the old private screeners detected more threats by a huge factor compared to TSA's screeners. More disturbing are the incidences of gun running on planes and theft among the federal TSA employees.

September 24, 2006 marked the first public event sponsored by Berkeley radio station KPFA regarding the alternative vision of the events of 9/11. The panel discussion celebrated the publication of the book edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott titled “9/11 and American Empire: Intellectuals Speak Out.”

The book, published by Olive Branch Press (Interlink), contains eleven essays by American and international intellectuals. Ray McGovern, the host of the event commented that these writings “in no way can be dismissed as the ravings of ‘paranoid conspiracy theorists.’”

The video of this landmark event publicizing 9/11Truth, includes the complete presentations of each of four major contributors to the book: David Ray Griffin, Peter Dale Scott, Peter Phillips and Kevin Ryan plus question and answer moderated by host Ray McGovern. The audience’s standing ovation response to this standing-room-only event was tremendous.

The September 24 KPFA event from Berkeley, CA, will air on C-Span's Book TV this weekend.

He talks about running into ex-Secretary of the Department of Transportation Norman Mineta and confronting him regarding his testimony before the 9/11 Commission. Mineta testified that Cheney was well aware of the location and destination of Flight 77 (or whatever it was) and forced NORAD to stand-down and allowed it to hit the Pentagon.

(Includes the Mineta testimony at the end of the clip. Some people have suggested that Mineta was not talking about Flight 77, or conversely, the flying object that hit the Pentagon. Mineta is definitely talking about the flying object that hit the Pentagon. He knows, what it is, that he is talking about.)
