Dick Cheney

The Torture Memo by STEPHEN GILLERS

Anyone who had half a brain and cared to look knew this was going on . . . a similar pattern of deceit, obfuscation and willful negligence as with the WMD issue . . . the Emperor Wears No Clothes . . . and no one near Bush or Cheney had the kajones to stand up to them . . . Well, those that did, lost their jobs, or worse . . . .

The Torture Memo
by STEPHEN GILLERS

[from the April 28, 2008 issue]

The Justice Department is investigating the lawyers whose memos gave the Bush Administration the legal support it needed for waterboarding and other brutal interrogation techniques. We are "examining whether the legal advice in these memoranda was consistent with the professional standards that apply to Department of Justice attorneys," H. Marshall Jarrett, counsel for the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility, wrote to two Democratic senators in February.

Pentagon Insider Tells 60 Minutes U.S. Attack On Iraq Was Anticipatory Self-Defense; Not 9/11 Retaliation

Insider: Iraq Attack Was Preemptive

(CBS) The name Douglas Feith may not mean much to most Americans, but to students of the Iraq War and historians already studying it, he is one of the main architects.

From 2001 to 2005, Feith was under secretary of defense for policy and the No. 3 man at the Pentagon, intimately involved both pre-war strategy and post-war planning. His boss, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, called Feith one of the most brilliant individuals in government but he has also been a lightning rod for criticism and a magnet for blame.

A Morning After, By Eric Harger, April 6, 2008

The spelling errors notwithstanding, I think these thoughts are relevant for 911 Bloggers . . . Many (most) of us have had these thoughts, as "crazy" as they may sound to the general population unaware of 9/11 Truth, they're logical . . . So, it seems maybe we should have a basic (communication/alert) plan should an obvious false flag op occur and the Internet mysteriously goes down or acts weird, as it did the last three days in the Philadelphia area . . . Maybe there should be a phone (or text) chain-type system set up across the country to immediately activate and alert whatever actions we have pre-planned . . . just a Sunday afternoon thought . . .

Maybe a plan (by us) is already in the works, and I am unaware . . .

VICE-PRESIDENT CHENEY RESIGNS

Cites conversion to Buddhism and enormous guilt for "all the bad things I've done"

American Buddhist Net News
April 1, 2008

"I just couldn't take it any longer," the former vice-president said at a hastily called news conference at midnight on the steps of the White House.

"For my whole life, I had always believed what I had been taught--that greed is good, and that anger is our best weapon against the people we hate. When I realized how wrong I have been, well... I am terribly sorry for all the bad things I have done."

Standing at his side in place of president Bush, Laura Bush said of his resignation: "Naturally we do not approve of his conversion to a godless faith, but we accept his decision and will pray for him, as always."

Cheney's resignation was likely prompted by a recent meeting with the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader. Witnesses reported seeing the vice president in tears after his meeting with the monk last week. One heard him exclaim, "How could I have done that? What was I thinking all these years?"

Attorney General Mukasey lies about 9/11 and international spying

In a recent speech at San Francisco’s Commonwealth Club, Attorney General Michael Mukasey defended the Bush-Cheney administration’s illegal domestic spying agenda by proclaiming that the 9/11 attacks could have been prevented if the government had been able to monitor overseas phone calls to the United States.

Like every other member of the Bush-Cheney administration, Mukasey is lying. Lying about the fact that the “war on terrorism” is a fabrication. Lying about the pervasive worldwide eavesdropping capabilities of US intelligence agencies. Lying about the fact that 9/11 was a long-planned Anglo-American false flag covert operation.

According to Mukasey’s spin on the now-classic 9/11 fiction, Bush-Cheney “knew there had been a call from some place that was known to be a safe house in Afghanistan and we knew that it came to the United States. We didn’t know precisely where it went. We’ve got 3,000 people who went to work that day, and didn’t come home, to show for that.”

Video Book Review: "9/11 Contradictions"

TRANSCRIPT:

David Ray Griffin provides more food for thought with the release of his 5th single-author book on the events of September the 11th... 9/11 Contradictions. (Purchase a copy from 911truth.org here.)

Soon, we will be seven years away from an event scorched into our collective consciousness, (and collective unconscious), but for those of us who have taken the time to revisit that day in our memories and in various forms of media: audio, video, the written word... it hasn't put seven years of distance between us and 9/11, rather, 9/11 has become a historical event known in intimate detail by students in a global, open-university setting.

Cheney says Bin Laden Innocent of 9/11

After discussing this interview clip from March 29, 2006 with friends, family and 9/11 researchers, I was surprised that so many people I know had not heard the archived audio from the Tony Snow Show, nor read the transcript available on the White House website with Cheney submitting that bin Laden had nothing to do with the September "attacks" in his response to the question on Iraq. Maybe you've heard it or have seen the humorous animation put to the audio interview clip, but I have yet to find anyone in my research circles who have heard it. But for so many of us, looking at so much information for so long, it is easy to miss things as I have so many times in this research deluge, and probably have done so once again.

Cheney Again Links Iraq Invasion To 9/11 Attacks

Amid tears and wails, mourners in the southern city of Najaf on Tuesday began burying victims from a suicide bombing that killed nearly 50 worshipers and injured dozens of others just before evening prayers Monday in nearby Karbala.

In Baghdad, a long-anticipated Iraqi national reconciliation conference began with great fanfare, then quickly dissolved into the usual sectarian and political stalemates that have marred several similar gatherings in recent years.

But Vice President Dick Cheney gave an upbeat view of conditions in Iraq as he concluded his unannounced trip to mark the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion. Cheney also defended the toppling of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein as part of the struggle against terrorism following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Cheney accused of leaking Khadr tape

Cheney accused of leaking Khadr tape

NEW YORK - Lawyers for Omar Khadr are to probe whether U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney's office leaked an incriminating video tape of the Canadian terror suspect, a court filing yet to be made public reveals.
The CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes ran the footage, which shows Khadr apparently helping make a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, in a report that aired mid-November.
The show's producers refuse to say how they obtained the video, but it's believed very few copies of it existed, and all were designated confidential after being cloned from a master copy seized by U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
In the court filing, Khadr's defence team says Col. Morris Davis, former chief prosecutor of the Military Commission that will try the Canadian at the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has stated his belief Cheney's office was responsible for leaking the video.

In Case You Missed It

Dick Cheney’s Song of America

The Plan is for the United States to rule the world. The overt theme is unilateralism, but it is ultimately a story of domination. It calls for the United States to maintain its overwhelming military superiority and prevent new rivals from rising up to challenge it on the world stage. It calls for dominion over friends and enemies alike. It says not that the United States must be more powerful, or most powerful, but that it must be absolutely powerful.

Conyers considering hearings

John Conyers and two staffers met for over an hour with two members of Code Pink and discussed activism and impeachment, including Congressman Robert Wexler's proposal to begin impeachment hearings on Cheney.

He hinted he could be swayed by a convincing argument, leaning out of his chair for dramatic effect.

Worthwhile online videos from CBC and Frontline.

Below is the link to a “Fifth Estate” story about Cheney which is well worth watching. It ironically documents the extent he went to, to avoid fighting in Vietnam. (four draft deferments and a “hardship” exemption because his wife, whom he recently married to avoid going to war, was pregnant.) Coincidentally his child was born nine months after this form of exemption was announced. Got lucky I guess! It also documents his rise to power including many lies and much deceit along the way. Follow the link and scroll down to THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY OF DICK CHENEY. http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/video.html

Frontline also has some good shows. One is called “The Man Who Knew” which is a fascinating story about John O’Neill and another one called “Cheney’s Law”. Here is their link. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/view/ (i think these must be viewed in at least 1024 * 768 resolution.)
