The entire 9/11 field of inquiry has been vilified, poisoned over the years by ridicule, sometimes fantastic conspiracy mongering, and fearfulness by journalists of approaching the material, lest they be branded as irresponsible or some kind of conspiracy freak. As a result, little work has been done to investigate, except by a small group of people, some of whom have raised some real questions ...

Similarly, Air Force Colonel and key Pentagon official Karen Kwiatkowski - who blew the whistle on the Bush administration's efforts to concoct false intelligence about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction - wrote (page 26):

I have been told by reporters that they will not report their own insights or contrary evaluations of the official 9/11 story, because to question the government story about 9/11 is to question the very foundations of our entire modern belief system regarding our government, our country, and our way of life. To be charged with questioning these foundations is far more serious than being labeled a disgruntled conspiracy nut or anti-government traitor, or even being sidelined or marginalized within an academic, government service, or literary career. To question the official 9/11 story is simply and fundamentally revolutionary. In this way, of course, questioning the official story is also simply and fundamentally American.

Former military analyst and famed Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg said that the government has ordered the media not to cover 9/11:

I'd first like to say that I respect both Bill Moyers and Robert Parry, even though I thoroughly disagree with them about their stance on the cover-up of 9/11. Bill Moyers documentary entitled "The Secret Government: The Constitution In Crisis," and Robert Parry's work on the Iran Contra Affair are excellent.

I have little doubt that over the years, Bill Moyers and Robert Parry have received a multitude of emails from people demanding they give attention to the cover-up of 9/11. I have little doubt that a large majority of those emails talked about "crazy" theories, or made accusations of them for not covering certain issues. Unfortunately, there are people in the 9/11 Truth Movement who do these things. I, myself, have been known to write a nastygram on occasion.

Advocate Off Target

The Alan Bisbort article "Truly Alternative: Giving our shared humanity a media voice" [Jan. 22, 2009] brought home some deep unsettled feelings. This well-crafted story-in-a-story also brought to light what I found missing in the Advocate. Cynthia McKinney was the keynote speaker at an event to honor Martin Luther King Day. This came on the heels of an international incident on a ship named "Integrity" that, while bringing mercy supplies to Gaza (with CNN and others on board), was rammed three times by an Israeli navy speed boat. It began to take on water. My website, flybynews.com, has links to youtube videos on this incident.

In 2008, Architect, Richard Gage Published a Video DVD containing evidence and “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” that three WTC skyscrapers were deliberately destroyed with explosives.

On November 7, Gage’s evidence was submitted to the FBI along with a letter explaining that the conclusions and implications of Gage’s presentation could be of immediate concern to the national security of the United States.

December 22, 2008, a letter of reply was received from the FBI’s head of Counterterrorism – Michael J. Heimbach who assessed Richard Gage’s presentation as: “…backed by thorough research and analysis.

In the aftermath of the quarrel about suggesting David Ray Griffins new book to Bill Moyers, I found this documentary by coincidence. It is about the Secret Government. If you transfer the facts about this to Al Qaida and to nowatdays, the implications are terribly clear.

There's a simple principle underlying "Buying the War," said television journalist Bill Moyers:

Be skeptical.

"People should read and watch the news with a raised eyebrow," said Moyers, a writer, executive editor and narrator of the 90-minute documentary about U.S. media coverage of claims and information leading to the invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

The "phenomenon of terrorism" and the events of Sept. 11, 2001, shaped press coverage, he said. The film notes: "As the administration organized to strike back at the terrorists, there was little tolerance for critical scrutiny from journalists."

Clips from sources as varied as presidential news conferences, network newscasts and "The Oprah Winfrey Show" illustrate how issues leading up to the war were covered.
