The Wall Street Journal reminds us that "9/11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told a military tribunal he was "directly in charge" of "managing and following up on the Cell for the Production of Biological Weapons, such as anthrax and others", and concludes that "this fiasco shows the limits of bureaucratic law enforcement in fighting terror."

Even experts at the U.S. bioweapons facility at Fort Detrick think that the anthrax which was used in the 2001 attacks came from their facility:

"In an e-mail obtained by FOX News, scientists at Fort Detrick openly discussed how the anthrax powder they were asked to analyze after the attacks was nearly identical to that made by one of their colleagues.

"Then he said he had to look at a lot of samples that the FBI had prepared ... to duplicate the letter material," the e-mail reads. "Then the bombshell. He said that the best duplication of the material was the stuff made by [name redacted]. He said that it was almost exactly the same … his knees got shaky and he sputtered, 'But I told the General we didn't make spore powder!'"

Fourteen workers from a Pomona Post Office on Monterey were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center at 1798 N. Garey Avenue in Pomona, California for treatment and decontamination earlier today.
Pomona Valley Hospital spokeswoman Kathy Roche said,
“All fourteen were decontaminated then admitted however, most have since been released and others are in the process of being released.”
Roche also said that,
‘A potential or possible toxin had been found at the post office, but testing of that substance happened elsewhere.”
An employee at Pomona Valley tipped the MTR News team stating some employees at the hospital have been detained beyond their regular hours because shift change workers are having difficulty getting to work due to freeway closures. Current Caltrans images from I-10 live cameras were unavailable according to the Caltrans Website.

Former Senator Tom Daschle was at the LA library on 3/26 to talk about his new book on healthcare. WeAreChangeLA was on hand to ask him about the health of the American body politic in relationship to the still 'unsolved' anthraxing of the two opposition leaders Leahy and Daschle -some leaked into Senator Feingold's office as well. While not directly addressing my question about the responsibility of Congress in calling out possible treason, Senator Daschle dropped a few hints in his response.

Ricin Man Identified-- Home, Warehouse to be Searched

According to a Homeland Security internal document obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the man in a coma whose room contained ricin is Roger Von Bergendorff, of Riverton Utah.

The ricin was discovered by his cousin, Thomas Tholen, according to an article by Associated Press, which also reported:

A down-on-his-luck Roger Von Bergendorff lived at the home of his cousin Thomas Tholen for more than a year before moving to Las Vegas about a year ago, said Tammy Ewell, who lives across the street from Tholen in Riverton, Utah.

She described Tholen and his wife, Ellen, as close friends.

"He was very much a loner. I would say more or less socially regressive. He just barely got by in life. He'd just barely make it," Ewell said of Von Bergendorff. "Tom was the last resort."

DFA is a fine organization that is 'mainstream' progressive - it's the outshoot of the Dean campaign - and this is the second time that a topic closely related to 9/11 Truth has appeared on their blog.

I would suggest that people here go over and post some poite follow-up comments. Maybe even better would be to gently start posting interesting diary entries there, remembering to tailor it to a general audience of progressives, and see how much more headway can be made in bring up the issues we find important to this organization and to the community that reads it.

On 9/18/01, the anthrax attacks started. The lethal anthrax spores -- which were sent along with notes purportedly written by Islamic terrorists -- used a weaponized anthrax strain from the top U.S. bioweapons facility, the Fort Detrick military base. Imagine my surprise early this morning/late last night when, about to go to sleep, I flicked on the Bill Bennett show for a second and heard a certain descript faux-Texan drawl reminding the American people not to believe the outrageous conspiracy theory of the Zelikow Commission Report. I think Bennett was a little rude to hang up on the POTUS and Decider in Chief like that, especially when he was trying to get the American people to understand a very important truth. But, I got the point Mr. President, loud and clear. Tell me where to line up behind you in pursuing the War on Terror to its root and I will be there.

Is it possible that the anthrax attacks were launched from within our own government? A former Bush 1 advisor thinks it is.

Francis A. Boyle, an international law expert who worked under the first Bush Administration as a bioweapons advisor in the 1980s, has said that he is convinced the October 2001 anthrax attacks that killed five people were perpetrated and covered up by criminal elements of the U.S. government. The motive: to foment a police state by killing off and intimidating opposition to post-9/11 legislation such as the USA PATRIOT Act and the later Military Commissions Act.

"After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the Bush Administration tried to ram the USA PATRIOT Act through Congress," Boyle said in a radio interview with Austin-based talk-show host Alex Jones. "That would have set up a police state.

"Senators Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) were holding it up because they realized what this would lead to. The first draft of the PATRIOT Act would have suspended the writ of habeas corpus [which protects citizens from unlawful imprisonment and guarantees due process of law]. Then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, come these anthrax attacks."

"At the time I myself did not know precisely what was going on, either with respect to September 11 or the anthrax attacks, but then the New York Times revealed the technology behind the letter to Senator Daschle. [The anthrax used was] a trillion spores per gram, [refined with] special electro-static treatment. This is superweapons-grade anthrax that even the United States government, in its openly proclaimed programs, had never developed before. So it was obvious to me that this was from a U.S. government lab. There is nowhere else you could have gotten that."

There's an excellent (and lengthy) post by Glenn Greenwald at Salon.com that deals with false reports by ABC's Brian Ross regarding a connection between the 2001 anthrax attacks, Iraq, and 9/11. Excerpts are below, but the entire piece is worth reading.

"At one of the most critical times in American history -- the weeks following the 9/11 and anthrax attacks -- ABC News and Brian Ross published multiple, highly inflammatory reports, aggressively linking Iraq to the anthrax attacks, which turned out to be completely false. Accompanying those false anthrax reports, ABC News frequently linked Saddam to the 9/11 attacks as well -- such as when Cokie Roberts, during an interview with Donald Rumsfeld immediately following one of Ross's Saddam-anthrax stories, referenced "the confirmation that Mohammed Atta met with an Iraqi intelligence official."
