A 9/11 Widow: Disgust, Dismay

Over the last few months, Monica and I have become friends. She is as witty, as she is strong. - Jon

Before she became someone else, before she watched the South Tower crumble, before she believed six years could pass and nothing would change, Monica Gabrielle's thoughts were of early retirement with her husband, maybe a trip to Europe.

Pay your taxes, raise your kid, don't ask questions and hope things work out.

"You suddenly realize that is not enough," she told me when I called. Gabrielle lost her husband and a well-ordered life in West Haven on 9/11. She has been raising hell ever since.

"I am disgruntled, disgusted and dismayed," Gabrielle said, reminding me of unsecured borders, vulnerable ports, a fear-mongering president and his misguided Iraq war.

Heartrendering Slideshow & Song Dedicated To Fallen Firefighters & Police & Families of 9/11

A beautiful tribute I found on LiveLeak! (I think it's in German?)

(BTW, I think it was more like 60 police officers, not 23 as written with the video, who were stolen from us on 9/11. We must also count the gravely ill first responders who are suffering to this very day!)

The pics of the crying children who had lost loved ones just broke my heart! (This is why we fight for 9/11 truth! So nothing like this can ever happen again!)

The image above is the only media I have because someone didn't push the charge plug all the way into the camera, and the battery was dead on arrival.

Sorry.

FDNY firefighters and victims' families outraged over Guiliani's upcoming role in 9/11/07 Ground Zero ceremonies

Rudy's role in 9/11 ceremony sparks ire
By David Freedlander, amNewYork Staff Writer dfreedlander@amny.com
August 28, 2007

Almost six years after Rudy Giuliani became America's mayor as he guided the city through the worst terror attack in U.S. history, many of those who stood by him then are now attacking his traditional role at the annual memorial ceremony at Ground Zero.

Criticism is coming his way because he's running for president and has been accused of exploiting 9/11 to lift his national profile.

"I think it's a horrible decision and I'm outraged," said Jim Riches of Brooklyn, whose son died in the attack on the World Trade Center and who is also a deputy chief with the fire department. "Seventy percent of us are now sick because he lied about the air quality down at Ground Zero, and he was too busy raising money and going to the World Series to pay attention to what was happening down there. He should just go to a Yankees baseball game instead."

An Open Letter From 9/11 Family Member Donna Marsh O'Connor

This September 11 will be the sixth anniversary of the day I had my last chance to talk to my daughter, Vanessa Lang Langer. I was barely out of bed and conscious during the dwindling moments that would come to be the remaining time her blood coursed through her veins, her heart beat, she had her hands on her steering wheel as she parked her car in the garage on Washington Street, sat at her desk, thought about her brothers, her husband, her coming child. I did not know it would be the last opportunity, and in this post-traumatic world that I now occupy I know there are millions of people out there who know how intensified my grief gets with each passing year and with each new crime perpetrated by the Bush administration and the many in our government who enable them. I know, and there is some comfort in knowing, that many of you are just as outraged, just as traumatized by the failure to bring to light that what was done to my daughter in body, and to our country and, indeed, the world, in spirit and action was (in whole or in part) facilitated by factions in our own government. The most important thing then is be certain that as we ask for an investigation or for impeachment we are conscious that we are asking for what may constitute our only hope to get out of this alive.

We must be strategic. Not sentimental. Not stupid. Not so angry that we lose sight of this first truth--even 9/11 occurred in the "post 9/11 world". On that day when so many are thinking about their last opportune moments to connect to those they love, we need to give them the space (intellectual and emotional) to see with their own eyes how this land has fared, how our government has failed us as it grew its own power. Because the most important thing is not respect for the dead and for the grieving who on this day will have those events unfold for them moment by moment--the most important thing is to stop it from happening again. And continuing. So on that day and only on that day in the places where the mourners gather, I am asking all of you to pause.

Political motive in 9/11 conspiracy

Political motive in 9/11 conspiracy

August 20, 2007

Paul Krugman's observation that the press is afraid to cover anything that sounds like a conspiracy theory may explain why the media continues to ignore what is in fact a huge story: the growing number of prominent people who have pointed out logistical problems with the official story of 9/11. Among them are three notable physicists, over 100 architects and engineers, pilots, current and former government officials, retired military and intelligence officers, first responders, and 9/11 families.

Because of the media's almost complete deference to the Bush administration regarding the events of 9/11, it is not generally understood that the executive director of the "independent 9/11 Commission" was an intelligence adviser in the Bush administration.

Two Images I'd Never Seen

I came across these two images from the press conference held on 9/11/2006 at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. where family members, Donna Marsh O'Connor, Christina Kminek, and Michele Little called for a new investigation.

I don't know who took these, but they are very good.

Families File for 9/11 Ceremony Permit

http://breakingwire.com/Pages/bwarticles/08-01-07familiesfile.html

Families of Sept. 11 attack victims, angered by city plans to move an annual commemoration ceremony away from ground zero, filed a permit request Wednesday asking to hold the event at the World Trade Center site.

The coalition filed the request with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the site. The agency says construction at the site would make a ceremony there unsafe, but family members plan to sue if they are denied.

"This is the place we have. A precedent has been set in letting us touch ground zero," said Diane Horning, a representative of one of the family groups.

Rosaleen Tallon, of Advocates for a 9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial, said remains of people killed in the 2001 terror attack are still being found at the site.

"How can we possibly not go there to memorialize these people?" she said. "It is still their resting place, and I want to be there."

The city has said that ground zero, now undergoing reconstruction, is not safe for the large annual gathering, and it plans to move the recitation of names to a nearby plaza.

September Eleventh Advocates: An Open Letter To All Senate Judiciary Committee Members

September 11th Advocates
For Immediate Release
July 27, 2007

Watching Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testify before Congress on July 24, 2007, for the third time, was excruciatingly painful.

During Gonzales’ testimony, it became abundantly clear that Americans were witnessing the unraveling of the fabric of America. We do not feel that this is an overstatement.

The Attorney General, a man who supposedly personifies America's rule of law, obfuscated, committed perjury, and belittled the very institution, the Congress, which makes America a great Democracy. Over and over, we publicly witnessed Gonzales’ refusal to answer the questions posed by you – a Committee authorized to conduct oversight duties. You were made to look frustrated and foolish as your attempts at Executive Branch oversight were thwarted by the bizarre, circular non-answers of Attorney General Gonzales. For the third time, you were unable to penetrate his stonewalling.

Choosing 9/11 Victim Lawsuits for Trial: Online Journal Special Report

Ellen Mariani has been calling around trying to get the word out that the presiding judge is looking to choose three of the weakest 911 lawsuits to go to trial, and use the judgement as precedent to for all of the other lawsuits.
Its truly a travesty of justice!

Choosing 9/11 victim lawsuits for trial?

That headline, that question is why we’re here in Judge Hellerstein’s courtroom, this time 14D, half the size of the room for last week’s hearing. Of course, the usual suspects have been rounded up, lawyers for the airlines, the plaintiffs, a US attorney, fewer citizen onlookers, including myself, notebook open. Yet what I will hear will leave me as chagrined as June 14’s double-sized gathering reported in The 9/11 Victim’s Compensation Fund: cui bono?

The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund: cui bono?

Thursday, June 14 -- I’m taking notes in Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein’s spacious courtroom atop the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in New York. This as lawyers from United Air Lines, American Airlines, Boeing Corporation, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, World Trade Center Properties, et al, make a motion for a determination of applicable law and for dismissal of all punitive damage claims as well as certain government discovery in the 9/11 damage suits.

The fleet of high-priced lawyers fills half the paneled courtroom. A packed gallery fills the other half. Among the corporate legal fleet are a smaller number of lawyers for the remaining plaintiffs who did not take the 9/11 Victim Compensation money. One of plaintiffs’ lawyers, Greg Joseph, is noted to say, “Any trial is a good trial.”

9/11 families jeer Rudy - Protesters say he’s not fit for White House

9/11 families jeer Rudy - Protesters say he’s not fit for White House

9/11 first responsders and victim's family members had this to say as they protested outside a recent campaign event for "America's Mayor"

“He pretended he was a leader on 9/11 and he ran, and then failed to provide the workers (at Ground Zero) with adequate protection from respiratory disease,” Ansbro charged. ”If he’s so prepared for terrorism, how come it took him a week to get basic respirators for the people that down there? And there was no enforcement on wearing them whatsoever.”

Sally Regenhart, whose firefighter son died at the World Trade Center, contended that one of the reasons so many firefighters died on 9/11 was the inadequacy of the radios they carried – a situation for which she blamed Giuliani.

Rush Limbaugh on supporting 911 Families vs supporting the troops

Rush Limbaugh on the air, 3/11/02:

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty, and those who die serving our country in Uniform, are profound. No one is really talking about it either; because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11.

[go, Rush! Maybe there's hope for you yet.]

Well, I can't let the numbers just pass by; because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country .

If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.......

[AH, BUT BEFORE YOU RUSH TO CONCLUSIONS -

THIS WAS NOT ENTITLEMENT, IT WAS HUSH MONEY.

YOU KNOW FROM THE MOVIES, THAT KIND COMES IN 6-FIGURE SUMS AT LEAST.... ]

However; if you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a big $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Dr. Bob Bowman Answers a Few Questions Regarding a New Investigation into 9/11

During Dr. Bowman's 2007 Patriot Tour stop in San Diego, CA, I had the privilege to meet and ask Dr. Bowman a few questions regarding a new investigation into the 9/11 tragedy. Here are his responses:
