What Will the "Anthrax Commission" Produce?

There is now a stated interest in conducting an 'investigation' into the anthrax debacle, but what will it produce? And how will it get there? How can we use it to draw comparisons to the 9/11 Omission Commission? Notice that currently everyone just refers to the 9/11 Commission as a model to follow -- if so, it will be a whitewash. But I don't think that will necessarily happen.

I find this situation fascinating because the potential exists for a relatively meaningful investigation along the lines of what should have happened on 9/11/01 -- the climate of fear is past, the power of the criminal Bush Administration is waning, the official anthrax story is absurd and transparent enough that even US Congress members can figure it out, and the propaganda labels and attacks on "anyone who dares question" our freedoms, (or anything else) is not yet arrived.

Could this investigation serve as a model for what the 9/11 investigation should have been? Or will it be another sham and whitewash with a fake report, as we've seen too many times? (Recommended reading: How They Get Away With It)

I do believe an investigation will happen. But what can we learn from it, and how can this help our efforts? What will it look like, and who will be installed to defend the media and certain government figures, who played a huge role in this whole scam being used for the attack on Iraq?

Salon Radio: Rep. Rush Holt on anthrax

(updated below - Update II - Update III - Update IV)

Rep. Rush Holt represents the Central New Jersey district where at least one of the anthrax letters was sent. Rep. Holt's Congressional office was one of the few in which traces of anthrax were found. He is also a physicist and has been an outspoken critic of the FBI's investigation into the anthrax attacks. Perhaps most importantly, he is the Chairman of the House's Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, which very well may hold hearings to examine the FBI's investigation and conclusions.

This morning, I spoke with Rep. Holt for roughly 20 minutes. During the discussion, Rep. Holt:

* indicated his support for the creation of an investigative body, with full subpoena power, along the lines of the 9/11 Commission, to investigate all unresolved aspects of the anthrax attacks;

As long as the same power structure exists...

In Washington D.C., the same results will occur. It will be a whitewash with no one held accountable. I also like how they say that the 9/11 Commission had "full subpoena power", but fail to mention that they barely used it, and instead, used "document requests."

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?
