Arizona Greens Need Help to Get Cynthia McKinney on the Ballot

The message below is from an email I received requesting help getting ballot access for the Green Party in Arizona -- Cynthia McKinney will not be on the ballot without the Greens getting ballot access.

This is a one-time effort that has a long-term pay-off, both for 9/11 truth efforts and for the Greens.

The Greens are the only political party that has openly continues to call for a new investigation into the 9/11/01 attacks. They have consistently put out press releases from 2001 onward that question the 9/11/01 attacks and responses, consistently endorse 9/11/01 events, host 9/11/01 speakers at Green events, and so on.

Now that the Greens are running Cynthia McKinney as a presidential candidate, this is our opportunity to help bring 9/11 truth issues front and center in the 2008 presidential campaign.

Ballot access battles by alternative parties are often conducted in virtual silence -- without any MSM coverage -- because those in power don't want anyone to question the two-party system or to see how extremely difficult it is for other parties to participate in the political process. Often, dirty tricks campaigns are waged behind closed doors to block ballot access. Judges in the US have even been quoted making decisions based on "keeping the two party system intact," but average Americans never see such information.

We can build real democracy one person at a time, one vote at a time, one signature at a time. If you know anyone in Arizona, please forward this message onto them, or consider donating to help pay for someone to do the legwork. It's a long-term pay-off -- for the Greens, for Cynthia McKinney, and for 9/11 truth.

Subject: [gpus-del] URGENT: HELP ARIZONA **NOW**

STATUS OF DRIVE

Arizona has collected about half of the signatures they
legally need, and about a third of the number they really need
to collect to win ballot access. The deadline is March 6.

This is still doable, if we can get people to help and get
the momentum going. Most of our successful ballot access
drives have achieved most of their signatures in the last
few weeks of the campaign.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Arizona's and Texas' ballot access battles will likely set
the stage for Green Party ballot access nationwide this
year. If the Green Party fails to win these two ballots, its
presidential candidate will have far less credibility in the
race, and morale for other ballot access campaigns will be
lost.

This year's presidential race is an opportunity for
anti-war, people-over- corporations politics that we haven't
seen in over a decade -- where the "Anyone But" arguments
are less of a threat, since there is no diabolical Bush as a
front runner and since there are other possibilities of
independent candidates who are neither Nader nor Green to
open up the race more. (Also, of course, because the
front-running Democrats have voted for war funding and are
pro-corporate, but that was the case in 2004 as well.) A
Green candidate needs to get on as many ballot lines as
possible in order to be taken at all seriously. Losing this
fight would be like turning down the volume on our political
voice in this country at a time when the Green Party message
is so needed.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Arizona Greens will provide places for volunteer petitioners
to stay, meals, and transportation within town. Non-Arizona
petitioners will work in partnership with an Arizonan Green.

(Non-Arizonans can hold petitions and ask for the
signatures, but an Arizonan Green has to be within eyesight
and earshot for the signatures to be legal.)

* If you have some money but no time to travel to Arizona
and petition, then we ask that you volunteer to pay for a
plane ticket or half a plane ticket for someone else to go.
Let Claudia know (contact info below), and we'll use your
money to give Arizona another petitioner.

* If you could petition but can't afford to get to Tucson or
Phoenix on your own, let Claudia know (contact info below)
and we will work on getting you a plane ticket.

* Also, please help with recruitment to and coordination of
these efforts. Please re-post this appeal to your local
listservs. But email is not enough. Please also phone people
you know are good petitioners or who could afford some time
or some money and crunch them to contribute it now.

THE TIME IS NOW

Previous appeals have all received sincere expressions of
support but little actual help. Now is the time to act to
help the Green Party achieve ballot access in Arizona. Below
is a schedule of key events, when petitioning will be most
effective.

Thanks for anything you can do.
