Incident instilled fear in citizens

The USS Liberty incident is just one of a myriad of "operations" throughout U.S. history perpetrated by our government.
They were designed to instill fear in the citizenry in order to more easily justify going to war.
This incident lined the pockets of the oil and military industrial complexes.
It is the same reason we are in Iraq today and equally so when Iran, eventually, will be attacked prompted by yet another false flag incident which, undoubtedly, is currently in the making, evidenced by what we are reading, hearing and seeing in the news.
Going back further in history, one can cite the Gulf of Tonkin incident. This incident took us to Vietnam, cost 60,000 American lives and never happened.
One could also cite Pearl Harbor and the ultimate horror that ensued, only to find out many years later that the attack was no surprise.
Perhaps now, as the true nature of these events is finally beginning to be a matter of public awareness, a new Sept. 11, 2001, investigation can be demanded and completed by special, nonpartisan prosecutors. Let the cards fall where they may, answering all questions and corroborating all evidence without the ubiquitous gaps and deletions of the 9/11 commission.
Up until now, the USS Liberty incident, a tragedy like all the rest, was considered just another concoction made up by whacky, lunatic conspiracy theorists.
Hopefully, it is now time we all wake up and see what is truly going on behind closed doors at the White House, the Pentagon and the CIA.
It is time we follow and trace the direct line from these institutions to others, namely the Federal Reserve which, contrary to popular understanding, is a private bank and not at all a federal agency. This is the same Federal Reserve that prints dollars and loans them to the government at interest to pay for these wars and then it is repaid with our tax dollars.
Wake up, America! We have been duped by our government for over 90 years.
It is the same government that has used these false flag incidents to eat away at our civil liberties by such measures as the Patriot Act, the Real ID Act, the Military Commissions Act and others.
If we make no demands for accountability of our government, we will lose the Constitution and our sovereignty altogether by allowing it to create the North American Union, which has been secretly in progress to join Canada, the United States and Mexico without borders and implementing a new currency called the Amero.
We need to stop this renegade, rogue administration through congressional intervention and save the nation.
There is only one candidate for president who is campaigning on this platform. Please do your research and vote in the primary election this January.

On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. Operation northwoods was not carried out and is a poor example for 9/11.

The USS Liberty assault is a much better analogy to 9/11 as it has the Israel-connection factor like 9/11 has.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the "poor example"...
The USS Liberty attack was an outrageous attempt at a false flag (to blame Egypt), even more damning with the very recent [ NSA release of intercepts ] confirming that it was a deliberate attack by Israel on a US ship.
To me "Operation Northwoods" is clear and documented proof of intent to carry out a false flag operation on the US with the aim of blaming it on Cuba, which would anger the population sufficiently to support an attack on Cuba (sound familiar).

It involved terror of the highest order, including attacking military bases, planes, snipers, ships etc. It was a very complex plan and in that vein more similar to 9/11. I do not rule out a Mossad involvement in 9/11 but I'm certain that others much more local must have also been involved to facilitate the complex 9/11 attacks, i.e Joint Chiefs of Staff (just like Northwoods), the CIA (just like Northwoods), drone planes etc, the list goes on and I'm not even scratching the surface of the massive cover-up.
Obviously it's down to opinion but to me 9/11 reeks of a more modern version of Operation Northwoods.

Actually what I wrote was an understatement:
I could better have written: "The USS Liberty assault and 9/11 are similar in the probabilty of having been carried out by the Israël government/secret service using (submitted) US resources to facilitate the operations. These are the so called "criminal elements inside the Bush administration" everybody talks about but noone seems to be able to name. These scenario's fit very well with the established facts and the "who gains?" question.
Throwing Israel out of the equation will leave the 9/11 issue unanswered.

I don't get it
How did the attack on the LIberty advance U.S. policy goals in the way that 9/11 did? While the evidence that Israel knowingly attacked the Liberty seems solid, I don't understand why they would have done it from any particular perspective.
That's the point:
It wasn't the U.S. policy that was advanced but the Israeli.
Liberty case: The Liberty witnessed killings of Egyptians by Israel. That's why the ship was attacked. A second U.S. ship's help was underway but was cancelled leaving the Liberty as good as defenseless (it was an intelligence ship).
9/11 case: Israel wants to get rid of its "enemies", uses it's mega influence and infiltration (Chertoff for example)on the U.S. to orchestrate 9/11 and blaming arabs to get the war going in the middle east.
The U.S hasn 't gained much, just spent a lot of money, lost soldiers and becomes a police state.
What do you think where all that money that the pentagon couldn't find the day before 9/11 went. Probably Israel destined weaponry. Again. US looses, Israel wins. The guy at the pentagon accounting office was a dual US/ Israeli citizen...
The disagreement
I don't think the point of disagreement here is about the attack on the Liberty--no one that I can see here is questioning that it was an outrageous act of false-flag aggression, subsequently covered up with the full complicity of the U.S. government. Rather, the objection was to your saying that Operation Northwoods is a 'poor example' for 9/11 truth. So, it wasn't carried out (fortunately), but the Joint Chiefs signed off on it, which is an outrage in and of itself, and so is an example that helps Americans to see what some of their own elites are capable of planning and willing in the pursuit of pretexts for their desired agenda.

Still two questions:
1: has the document been proven genuine and what is the proof
2a: if the document is not genuine it could have been created to "proove" U.S ability for false vlag terror and to deflect attention
b: if the document is genuine it could have been heavily promoted by whom who wishes to deflect attention
In both cases2a en b the result is that only the U.S. seems to be involved in these false vlag terrors..
...despite we now have much evidence that suggests that Israel played a role also.
