TIME Magazine: Sept. 11 ‘Truthers’ Mark Anniversary

With a billboard in Times Square and a global ad campaign, a group keeps questioning what happened twelve years ago

Smack in the middle of the northern half of Times Square there is a glass booth that sells tickets for Broadway shows. The scene is lit at all hours by hundreds of neon signs, news tickers and depictions of giant M&Ms climbing over Manhattan landmarks.

Stand by the ticket booth this week and glance across the street. Plastered to the side of the Doubletree Hotel, you’ll see an ad for a new ABC television show, digital posters for Broadway staples. Look east and you’ll see a 54-foot tall, 48-foot wide sign, that says, “Did you know a 3rd tower fell on 9/11?”

As the world marks the twelfth year since the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, a campaign called the ReThink911 Coalition is drawing attention to one of the lesser-known events of that day–the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7. Prior to the Sept. 11 Attacks, 7 World Trade Center was a 47-story building just north of the Twin Towers. When the North Tower collapsed, debris hit Building 7, igniting a fire that burned out of control over the course of the day. At 5:21 pm, nearly seven hours after the North Tower came down, 7 World Trade Center crumbled quickly to the ground.

“The heat from the uncontrolled fires caused steel floor beams and girders to thermally expand, leading to a chain of events that caused a key structural column to fail,” the NIST concluded. “The failure of this structural column then initiated a fire-induced progressive collapse of the entire building.”

An Interview with Connecticut Graffiti Artist: 9/11 TRUTH WTC 7

It wasn’t easy locating this particular person but after searching high and low, scouring the alleys and overpasses of CT accompanied with some old fashioned investigating, I was privileged with the opportunity to interview the boldly talented, yet elusive, graffiti artist “9/11 Truth WTC7” whose work has been spreading like a apothegmatic wildfire across the highways, overpasses and walls of Connecticut. Once contact was made, declined to go on camera (for anonymity reasons) but agreed to verbally answer most of my questions.

(Originally I was going to write up an article to include within this interview, but in order to not detract from 9/11 TRUTH WTC 7′s message, decided to write it separately. This article can be read here, Art vs Vandalism.)

1) Do you have a pseudonym, handle, name?

9/11 TRUTH WTC7 or 9/11 TRUTH BUILDING SEVEN

Traditionally in hip-hop graffiti someone chooses a name (or is given a name) which they proceed to write everywhere. Once they have written their name enough times, it takes on a life of its own. Uniqueness is valued highly in this sub-culture, so stealing someone else’s name is frowned upon.

9/11 TRUTH WTC7 is similar to a graffiti name, in that it is written everywhere with the intention of creating fame for an identity. However, unlike a graffiti name 9/11 TRUTH WTC7 is not exclusive. Other people have written it, and they should continue to write it as long as they are doing it for the right reasons.

Yesterday’s standing-room-only 9/11 truth presentation at the Veterans for Peace National Convention (http://www.veteransforpeace.org/) was followed by the 2013 VFP 9/11 Truth Caucus. First item of business: Overcoming the national leadership’s reluctance to publicize VFP’s official position demanding a new investigation of 9/11.

Since 2009, when Veterans for Peace officially adopted a resolution calling for a new investigation of 9/11, veterans at the grassroots level have been pushing the national leadership to publicize VFP’s pro-truth position and organize 9/11 truth events. But the national leadership has not been cooperative.

Phil Restino, a notable VFP 9/11 activist from the South Florida chapter, said: “Veterans for Peace has officially supported a new investigation of 9/11 for four years – but hardly anybody has heard about it!” Other VFP grassroots activists from Michigan, Arizona, California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and elsewhere agreed that the national leadership’s unwillingness to publicize the group’s position, and follow it up with concrete actions, needs to change.

The caucus agreed to continue applying pressure on the national leadership. Other suggestions included reaching out directly to local VFP chapters, organizing 9/11 events at the local chapter level, and issuing press releases from local chapters publicizing VFP’s official pro-9/11-truth position.

I will preface this all with saying, I do not intend for any bullet point list to effectively prove an inside job. Instead, this list will serve as evidence for the necessity of an independent Citizens Investigation into 9/11. The totality of circumstances are too great to ignore.

I have to start with the Continuity of Government. Verification here, CBS, Wikipedia here. Essentially a secret government was legally established on 9/11 and has been operating ever since.

First They Came …

Preface:  German pastor Martin Niemöller initially supported Hitler. But he later opposed him, and was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp for years.

Niemöller learned the hard way that keep your head down doesn’t keep one out of trouble … in the long run, it increases the danger to all of us.

Niemöller wrote a brilliant poem – First They Came – about the manner in which Germans allowed Nazi abuses by failing to protest the abuse of “others” … first gypsies, gays, communists, and Jews, then Catholics … and eventually everyone.

This is my modern interpretation of Niemöller’s poem …

One letter is from Paul Schreyer and is called "Update: Anomalies of the Air Defense on 9/11." Schreyer writes:
 
"Miles Kara insists that these were unrelated events. He says there is nothing on the tapes indicating a correlation and he points out that the Langley jets also made no attempt to change their altitude to get closer to the 'Doomsday plane' while flying southwest. So it´s possible that Kara is right here. However one still can only wonder about the series of anomalies in connection with the Langley scramble that all had just one effect: delaying the jets´ arrival over Washington."
 
The second letter, from me, accompanies the first.  It is called "Political Warfare and the 9/11 Commission." 
 
"When the 9/11 Commission Report was published in July 2004, it provided a completely new explanation for why the U.S. air defenses had failed to intercept any of the four hijacked planes on 9/11. Certain 9/11 Commission staff members had helped to produce that new story, and at least one of them was behind earlier explanations that were contradicted by the new account. That was Miles Kara, a retired U.S. Army intelligence officer. Kara has since been working via his blog and his personal contacts to persuade those questioning the official account that the unanswered questions of 9/11 are often just minor misunderstandings or are simply unimportant."

Snowden: NSA targeted journalists critical of government after 9/11

Leaker Edward Snowden accused the National Security Agency of targeting reporters who wrote critically about the government after the 9/11 attacks and warned it was “unforgivably reckless” for journalists to use unencrypted email messages when discussing sensitive matters.

Snowden said in an interview with the New York Times Magazine published Tuesday that he came to trust Laura Poitras, the documentary filmmaker who, along with Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald, helped report his disclosure of secret surveillance programs, because she herself had been targeted by the NSA.

“Laura and [Guardian reporter] Glenn [Greenwald] are among the few who reported fearlessly on controversial topics throughout this period, even in the face of withering personal criticism, and resulted in Laura specifically becoming targeted by the very programs involved in the recent disclosures,” Snowden said for the article, a profile of Poitras.

DOT officials trying to stop 9/11 graffiti on bridges, overpasses

Some graffiti popping up on highways has a lot of people talking, and the state isn't too happy about how a group of vandals are trying to get their message across.

Eyewitness News explains what it all means and the lengths one state agency is going to cut down on it.

When people drive around central Connecticut, it's hard to miss some of the graffiti popping up on bridges, overpasses and road signs that says "9-11 Truth," "W-T-C" and "Building 7."

All the phrases are scrawled across overpasses on some major highways. The Connecticut Department of Transportation is fed up with graffiti and doesn't have enough resources to keep up with it.
