The 2002 PBS documentary "America Rebuilds" is understandably becoming more difficult to find. Amazon offers the 2006 version: "America Rebuilds II" but no longer lists the more incredulous 2002 DVD, filled with impossible assertions. One scene wants America to believe that jet fuel was responsible for the two months of underground "fires" at ground zero. Another scene shows Larry Silverstein confessing to a "terrorist" act.

The author's research details how asbestos application was stopped at the 34th floor of WTC-1 and replaced with a non-asbestos fire-retardant (BLAZE SHIELD II) that had been tested for equal effectiveness.

Lawyers for the city and more than 11,000 Ground Zero rescue and cleanup workers reached a tentative settlement last night that will give them as much as $657 million, The Post has learned.

The proposal, presented yesterday to Manhattan federal judge Alvin Hellerstein, must be approved by 95 percent of the firefighters, cops, medics and hardhats who were sickened by working in the toxic debris.

Each worker whose illness is confirmed would get a sum based on the type and severity of his or her medical problem.

Special masters appointed by Hellerstein and lawyers for both sides have worked up "severity charts" that would grade individual conditions on a scale of 0 to four, and determine the amount paid to each worker. Individual payments could run as high as $1 million, according to one lawyer.

Fujita Denies calling 9/11 a hoax

TOKYO - A LAWMAKER and foreign policy expert of Japan's centre-left ruling party Tuesday denied telling The Washington Post that he suspects the September 11, 2001 attack on New York was a hoax.

In an editorial Monday, the US newspaper said Yukihisa Fujita, a lawmaker of Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama's Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), had questioned that the attacks were the work of terrorists.

The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and the New York City Health Department established the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Registry in 2002, with the goal of monitoring the health of people directly exposed to the WTC disaster. Today, the Registry is an ongoing collaboration with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

Registries allow health professionals to track and investigate illness and recovery related to disasters. They also help create guidelines that can save lives and reduce injuries in future disasters.
