The No camp reacts to the result

Official results of the Lisbon treaty referendum showed 53.4% voted No, while 46.6% voted Yes.

The result, which means the treaty will no longer enter force as planned on January 1, 2009, was met with loud cheering from supporters of the 'No' campaign in Dublin.

"In theory this should kill the treaty dead," said Sky's political correspondent Glen Oglaza.

"The European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso has said during the course of this campaign that there is no Plan B. We are now in uncharted territory.

Looks like the banking cartel has created an array of excuses for collapsing the world economy, and now they are amping up the rhetoric and propaganda about the oncoming depression. - Bruno

Central bank body warns of Great Depression

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the organisation that fosters cooperation between central banks, has warned that the credit crisis could lead world economies into a crash on a scale not seen since the 1930s.

In its latest quarterly report, the body points out that the Great Depression of the 1930s was not foreseen and that commentators on the financial turmoil, instigated by the US sub-prime mortgage crisis, may not have grasped the level of exposure that lies at its heart.

According to the BIS, complex credit instruments, a strong appetite for risk, rising levels of household debt and long-term imbalances in the world currency system, all form part of the loose monetarist policy that could result in another Great Depression.

The John McCain campaign insists it is trying to arrange a meeting with the Evangelist Billy Graham after a letter surfaced from the McCain camp that suggested the candidate didn't have time for such a meeting. Graham, the nation's best-known Christian evangelist, had long been a spiritual adviser to presidents of both parties.

The letter, written June 3 by McCain scheduling director Amber Johnson to an intermediary trying to set up a meeting, came to light as the McCain camp tries to patch things up with Christian conservatives.

It reads, "I must pass along our regrets and do not foresee an opportunity to add this event to our calendar."

But a McCain spokesman tells FOX News the campaign has been working with Graham's office directly for months on a meeting.

Lawmaker asks McCain to talk with 9/11 theorists

An Arizona state senator is petitioning presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain to meet with 9/11 conspiracy theorists, including an adjunct professor from Scottsdale who has been fasting outside McCain's Phoenix office for more than a week.

State Sen. Karen Johnson, a Mesa Republican, delivered a letter to McCain's Senate office Tuesday asking that he sit down with Scottsdale activist Blair Gadsby and a pair of leading members of the 9/11 Truth Movement to consider alternative explanations for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the collapse of the World Trade Center towers. Gadsby's fast outside McCain's Senate office entered its 10th day today.

"There are so many questions left unanswered," said Johnson, who called for a new, independent investigation into the attacks.

On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, WeAreChangeLA had two huge visibility street actions and outreach using our enormous blue banners on a freeway overpass over one of the busiest parts of the 10 freeway. Tens of thousands of cars passed underneath our banners that day.

The CHP dropped by to put a stop to our outreach, and we had a productive conversation with them. In the comments under our last freeway blogging encounter with the CHP, Robin Hordon had suggested that we ask for a citation the next time that the CHP ask us to leave. Asking for a citation was the central theme of our entire encounter with the CHP this time...

Once again the common Indians have become the victims of terror attacks and we condemn the apathy as well as complicity of the Indian state from protecting the masses. In our estimation the reprehensible terror attacks that occured in the streets of Jaipur today need to be analysed in the political context.

They have occurred on the eve of major global demonstrations against the Zionist Apartheid State of Israel. Thus the news on the global media channels will be dominated by one more instance of "Muslim Terrorism" and far worse. The news regarding global opposition to Zionist Israel will be relegated to the inside pages. The breaking news on CNN, BBC etc will be "more Islamic terror in Jaipur.....". If it was not for the tragic earthquake in China, Jaipur would have been the lead story.

Take a stand. Come stand with us. We have strength in numbers.

I implore everyone to do whatever they can in order to be in San Francisco this weekend. No matter what role you play in the 9-11 Truth movement, no matter what methods you personally use to reach out to others, the world needs you to be in San Francisco for the West Coast Convergence.

When I was arrested in December for bull-horning the Fox Television building, I spent over 24 hours in jail. I found myself in a small cell with 11 others, and I brought up 9-11, telling whomever would listen that the buildings were brought down in controlled demolitions. An older white man stood up and told me that I am crazy, and that 90% of Americans know that terrorists did it. Another guy in the room spoke up, "Nah actually I believe this guy" pointing to me, then another guy "What I saw that day finally makes sense", and another and another etc.

Don Dahler NEW YORK (CBS) ― There was a poignant and emotional ceremony Wednesday, as 11 names were added to the New York City Police Department's Wall of Heroes.

Three were officers shot in the line of duty, but eight others died from illnesses linked to their time spent at ground zero in the weeks following the 9/11 attacks.

Detective Russel Timoshenko and auxiliary officers Eugene Marshalik and Nicholas Pekearo were added to the Wall after they were gunned down while on the job.

"These are the kind of police officers who transformed New York into the safest big city in America," NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

But it was a beautiful, clear morning, not unlike Wednesday morning, 6 ½ years ago, when eight of these officers gave their lives.

Among those remembered Wednesday were eight officers who died from illnesses directly related to their service on Sept. 11 and the weeks that followed.

An odd group: Karen and the 'Truthers'

Karen Johnson, a Republican state senator, is showcasing on the 9/11 Truth Movement Web site her "My Turn" column, "We deserve the full truth about 9/11" (Opinions, Saturday).

Karen and other "Truthers" of this movement believe the controlled-demolition hypothesis that the World Trade Center wasn't destroyed by terrorists but by explosives planted in the buildings with drones hitting the Twin Towers as cover.

Kook groups will always form to further their own agenda.

Their "proof" has more holes than Swiss cheese, but they don't care.

Tossing Johnson out of her state Senate seat today would not be too soon for me. - Robert W. Galusha,Phoenix

A recent letter to the editor asked for evidence of my claims regarding the tragedy of 9/11. Below I present some points that are presently known. I won’t be able to convince anyone who doesn’t want to be convinced, but for those who are willing to deal with factual evidence, consider the following:

• 37 different people reported explosions in the basement of the World Trade Center Towers before the first plane hit, and seismic equipment recorded both the explosions and the impacts. In addition, people were injured by the explosions in the basement, providing well-documented evidence. Yet this evidence is ignored.

Regarding "Drinking the 9/11 Kool-Aid" (Editorial, April 24):

After three government investigations and more than six years, we still don't have answers on 9/11.

Why, for example, did Building 7 collapse? It wasn't hit by a plane, as the towers were. The 9/11 Commission Report completely ignores Building 7. The Federal Emergency Management Agency report discounts fire as a cause and concludes that the reasons for the collapse of Building 7 are unknown and require further research. But when FEMA issued this report, it already cleared the site and disposed of the dust and steel (evidence from a crime scene), thus possibly committing a felony and complicating any "further research."
