On Monday, April 5, Wikileaks.org posted video footage from Iraq, taken from a US military Apache helicopter in July 2007 as soldiers aboard it killed 12 people and wounded two children. The dead included two employees of the Reuters news agency: photographer Namir Noor-Eldeen and driver Saeed Chmagh.
The US military confirmed the authenticity of the video.
The footage clearly shows an unprovoked slaughter, and is shocking to watch whilst listening to the casual conversation of the soldiers in the background.
As disturbing as the video is, this type of behavior by US soldiers in Iraq is not uncommon.

Inside a 9/11 'Truther' Convention
March 08, 2010 6:30 PM
Chris Bury and producer Katie Hinman did just that this weekend -- attending a convention in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, alongside hundreds who share a collective distrust of the official explanation for the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
As they will report tonight, the attendees come from several different viewpoints, knitted together in this "movement" largely online.
We talk to conference organizer Betsy Metz, who tells us there is "absolutely a cover-up," and the producers of "Loose Change" a conspiracy theorist film that is among the most downloaded videos in Google history.

HOLLISTON — Although as of yesterday he was listed online as a member of a group that questions the validity of government and mainstream media accounts of the 9/11 attacks, state Rep. candidate Jonathan Loya says he is not a conspiracy theorist and joined the group because of his libertarian ideologies.
"There are always theories being thrown around, but I believe that what happened, happened," said the 19-year-old Holliston resident. He clarified he believes the government's account of the 9/11 attacks.
Loya, a UMass-Lowell sophomore studying political science, said he decided to run because he is fed up with "business as usual in Washington" and wants to bring down taxes. He is running as an independent against Democratic incumbent Carolyn Dykema, D-Holliston, in the Nov. 2 election.

Politics » About the attacks, congressman says, 'There's a lot we still need to learn.'

Washington » At often-unpredictable town hall meetings last week, two Utah politicians faced questions from people who believe the government has committed major conspiracies.
But only one of them landed in hot water for his murky answer.
Liberal blogs and pundits have skewered Rep. Jason Chaffetz for comments that seemed to support further investigation into claims the U.S. government perpetrated the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
On Tuesday, a group with a video camera asked Chaffetz about the "9/11 truther" movement and Chaffetz said: "There's a lot we still need to learn." The next day Chaffetz tried to clarify his statement and say he doesn't believe in the conspiracy. He told The Salt Lake Tribune on Friday that he should have been more direct.

Lawyers Cleared Over 9/11 Memos
By JESS BRAVIN
WASHINGTON—A senior Justice Department official cleared two Bush administration lawyers of professional-misconduct allegations in connection with memorandums the lawyers wrote authorizing harsh interrogations.
The decision by David Margolis, the deputy associate attorney general, overruled internal findings that the Bush officials committed professional misconduct and should be referred to their state bar associations for disciplinary proceedings.
The legal work was at the heart of the debate over Bush-era practices in the war on terror, with critics calling the practices approved in the memorandums torture. Mr. Margolis didn't endorse the legal work performed by the lawyers, John Yoo and Jay Bybee, who drafted the once-secret memorandums. But the men should not face punishment, Mr. Margolis decided, because the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks placed them under extraordinary pressure and it would be unfair to hold them to "best practices" after the fact.

Corporate Media Smears Medina For Expressing View Shared By Majority Of Americans

The attack dog corporate media, in cahoots with loathsome phony neo-con crybaby Glenn Beck, are once again attempting to manufacture reality by smearing Debra Medina for expressing a view shared by the vast majority of Americans in an effort to purge her from the Texas gubernatorial race.
Fox News blowhard Glenn Beck attempted to set up Medina on his radio show yesterday by asking her if she believed the U.S. government was involved in 9/11.
“I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard,” Medina said. “There are some very good arguments, and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there, so I have not taken a position on that.”

Debra Medina didn't answer a question about 911 in a typical, I'm an American by Gawd soundbite and BAM! Her opponents and talking heads went berserk with faux outrage. Her campaign is over!, they cried. She's toast!, they bellowed. She's a loony toon Ron Paul-ite!, they typed. Her character is flawed!, they spoke. Why, she thinks that the gubmint killed 3,000 Americans!, they commented. The truth is that Debra Medina did make a mistake in the way she answered a question from Glenn Beck. But the whole truth is that a mistake in answering was all it was. Debra Medina isn't a kook, a nut, a fruitcake, a loon, an anti-Semite (yeah, one local blogger, an "intellectual", actually raised that one) - she's none of those. She is, however, a fairly inexperienced politician that tends to over-think questions and does allow those surrounding her to influence her thought processes.

Glenn Beck interviews/attacks Debra Medina/911 Truth movement: Candidate Medina fails to take a firm stand---or even make her position crystal clear--- on 911 Truthers. In a major failure to explain herself, she leaves Mr. Beck and his staff laughing as he brushes her off the phone line. Alex Jones, one of the supporters of candidate Medina, must be disappointed that Debra Medina---whom is normally a strong & vocal individual--- so weakly stood up against Mr. Beck on the 911 Truth issue. Maybe it's time for Mr. Jones to challenge Mr. Beck to a one-on-one debate.

Perry dismisses 9/11 suggestion by GOP rival
02/11/2010
Associated Press
Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison are dismissing a suggestion from a Republican gubernatorial primary rival that the U.S. government was involved in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Appearing on the Glenn Beck Show, Debra Medina said there were "some very good arguments" that the U.S. was involved in bringing down the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Medina, Perry and Hutchison are battling for the GOP nomination. Perry said Medina's remarks Thursday "were an insult to the thousands of Americans who lost loved ones." He countered that anyone "should be ashamed" for suggesting involvement by former President George W. Bush's administration. Bush was Perry's predecessor as Texas governor.
Hutchison stressed that it was "al-Qaida terrorists who declared war on America. To suggest otherwise is an affront to the men and women who are sacrificing their lives to root out the terrorists in Afghanistan and around the globe."

Congressman Who Backed Afghan Fighters Against the Soviets Dies
Jeff Seldin | Washington, DC 11 February 2010
Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson
A former U.S. lawmaker who played a key role in the ouster of Soviet forces from Afghanistan has died.
Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson helped funnel millions of dollars to fund Afghan fighters during the 1980s.
He was known around Washington as "Good Time Charlie" for his love of drinks and women, and his life story became a Hollywood movie starring famed actor Tom Hanks.
The 2007 film "Charlie Wilson's War" introduced a new generation to the exploits of Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson and his role in shaping the future of Afghanistan.
Wilson was a member of the Appropriations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, and used his position to help buy Afghan fighters weapons, including Stinger missiles, that inflicted heavy damage on Soviet gunships.

Obama Administration Considers Moving Trial of Accused Sept. 11 Mastermind to Remote Location

But with mounting political pressure, the Obama Administration is now strongly considering moving the trial from Manhattan to a more remote location, reports CBS News correspondent Bob Orr.
