Buzzflash.com has launched Buzzflash.net today. Similar to Digg or the Netscape front page, users can submit and vote on articles, and drive them to the top of the list for maximum visibility.

I found this OpEd there today, Pulling the 9/11 Lynch Pin, and voted it up. The registration process seems to be running smoothly, I got my confirmation email within an hour.

Buzzflash has been very reluctant to cover 9/11 skepticism, but if they are actually relying on user-driven points, Buzzflash could become a great conduit for reaching out to Left-leaning headline scanners who don't surf the 9/11 sites.

Bill O'Reilly invited Dr. James Fetzer from Scholars for 9/11 Truth onto his show tonight. Bill was at the top of his game tonight in his mastery of 5th grade insults not seen since he berated the son of a victim of 9/11.

O'Reilly's only purpose for inviting Fetzer on this evening was to invite him to be his personal body bag to verbally abuse and insult as a sort of follow up to his coverage last night of Kevin Barrett (be sure to check out Ann Coulter Jr.). Dr. Fetzer perhaps got in 3 to 4 sentences edgewise during O'Reilly's gradual melt down until O'Reilly quite literally advocated the government having the FBI track Fetzer down to find out "what you guys are up to" - Bill O'Reilly quite clearly proved tonight that he is in fact a fascist.

For its October 16 issue, the New Yorker’s Nicholas Lemann has penned what I would call a soft-hit-piece on 9/11 Truth, entitled: “Paranoid Style---How conspiracy theories become news.” The article does a kind of meta-handwaving-dismissal, not by poo-pooing the Truth Movement directly, but instead by pish-poshing the coverage (in the news and documentary film) of Truth research. The implication here is that the coverage is just an inevitable by-product to some doubly inconsequential fringe cult, so never you mind anything else you may see in print or on screen.
The method is duly served by the New Yorker’s characterization of Richard Hofstadter, the ideological father behind conspiracy-theory-derision, as having been “one of the country’s leading intellectuals,” and then going on to treat his superficial, supercilious bull-shill as exhaustive explanation for the unfortunate “phenomenon” of conspiracy theoretics. Case in point? What else? Loose Change. About that, the writer, with the smug distraction characteristic of all the New Yorker’s most deliciously insubstantial pontifications, opines: “To engage in huffy denunciation of the journalistic shortcomings of ‘Loose Change’ would probably not change the minds of many of its fans.” Of course we know it’s not worth your time kind sir, but you favor us with examples yet! “Commercial flights did not hit the World Trade Center and Pentagon…United Flight 93 was diverted to Cleveland and its passengers taken to an empty NASA research facility…two AA flights that crashed that morning had not been scheduled to fly…” etc. [Editor’s note: LC guys, what was that part about the NASA warehouse all about, anyway?]

Sure, during the morning the mass media of the U.S.A. and Latin America showed dramatic scenes by television of ceremonies with relatives of victims and several political heads from the pit of the World Trade Center (WTC) located in the downtown area of Manhattan Island of the City of New York, where the famous "Twin Towers" (twin skyscrapers of 110 floors), the Marriott Hotel (of 22 floors), three other buildings (of 9 floors) and the "Austin J. Tobin" plaza that was located in the center of the super block of the WTC once stood (a total of 16 acres in size).

What the media did not show us during the course of the morning was what was happening at the same time outside of the giant pit on the streets that surround it. About three thousand demonstrators from diverse parts of the continent met during this past fifth anniversary of the 11th of September, 2001 terrorist attacks at the WTC and were present marching outside of the WTC all wearing black T-shirts that had the phrase "INVESTIGATE 911" across the chest. One third of these shirts (about 700) were donated and distributed by the producers of the documentary video "Loose Change" www.loosechange911.com within a pair of hours. During the course of the morning the producers of "Loose Change", with the aid of thousands of demonstrators, distributed about 9,600 DVD's of the documentary video to the pedestrians, relatives of victims, firemen, police, employees and owners of near businesses, etc.

Why Was Wolfowitz So Clueless On The Morning of 9/11? 

Despite the exhaustive work of the 9/11 Commission and its detailed final report, the number of oddities surrounding the events of 9/11, and particularly the government's botched attempt at defend a country under attack, remain numerous. One peculiarity I've always wondered about is why Paul Wolfowitz, then the Deputy Secretary of Defense and the number two person at the Pentagon, was so completely clueless the morning of the deadly attacks. As the events unfolded live on television and senior administration officials scrambled to make sense of the horrific events, Wolfowitz appeared to be in a haze. Or perhaps a cocoon. Now, as 9/11 remembrance week draws to a close, I thought it might worth examining the odd inaction by such a senior member of the administration. The same senior official who later played a central role in planning the disastrous war in Iraq. (And no, by raising questions about Wolfowitz I'm not signing off on any larger, 9/11 conspiracy theory.)

Here's how Wolfowitz, taken from a May 9, 2003 interview transcript, described his morning on that unforgettable day:

A hit piece article, not far fetched to be described as mostly based on pure demagogic overtures appeared in one of the most distributed Czech daily newspapers, the Mf Dnes, which is seen by many as rather renowned outlet for its regular unbalanced and slanderous political "journalism".

But firstly, to tackle another recent controversy, the Mf Dnes editorials called for unquestionable and unconditional support for accommodating a proposed US military missile/radar base which should be part of the controversial anti-ballistic missile system deployed within the Central European region and outside the NATO/EU security structures. Despite the, fact that the first '06 summer poll showed 83% opposition across the party line of the general Czech public to such a proposal.

Grassroots rallies "Ne zakladnam! No to bases!" and antiwar initiatives have mobilized against both the large part of the corporate as well as the public broadcasting media, which were firstly reluctant to cover the issue before the summer parliamentary elections at all. Large chunk of the media later jumping on the unpopular pro base rightwing government bandwagon.

Although, the author of the main conspiracy article and additional "expert" interview did plug the recent Scripps – University of Ohio poll and also mockingly mentioned in passing the science community on the issue (not mentioning specifically 9/11 Scholars for Truth or any individuals) the articles were conducted in bluntly uninformed, and dishonest distractive manner, not unlike the infamous Ann Coulter style.

There is, in fact, no national consensus on the terrorist attacks and their aftermath

"...Was the success of the attacks (from a terrorist's tactical perspective) due to complacency by high officials and intelligence bungling or cleverness on the part of al-Qaida? Was the al-Qaida threat as obvious as it seemed to a few high officials at the time while fools and charlatans ignored it? Or was it only one concern among many that understandably didn't rise to the highest priority until 9/11 happened? Were there really enough dots to be connected that the attacks could have been thwarted, or is such talk 20/20 hindsight?

In a more sinister vein, did the government consciously let the plot go forward – or do it itself – to unite the populace behind war plans, as a surprising number of Americans are coming to believe?..."

The Path from 9/11

Now that all the books have been published and promoted… And the Hollywood films have all opened – and closed… And all the radio and television commentaries and commemorative specials have been broadcast… and all the dramas…and the so-called ‘docudramas’…and even a handful of reality-based, actual ‘documentaries’ have aired and been argued over, ad infinitum and ad nauseum, on the web and in the blogosphere…at long last, and after all has been said – but so little really has been done – where do we find ourselves, and where do we go from here, on the long, confusing, circuitous and still ever-painful path from 9/11?

To answer that question, we first must come to understand truly what happened in and to America five years ago, how it happened, and – most important – why. Yet the plethora of attack-related media that has exploded onto our public consciousness in the recent run-up to the fifth ‘anniversary’ of the terror attacks has done nothing to help us understand any of it. Yes, books have been sold, theatres filled, ratings raised, circulations increased, reputations enhanced – but I repeat: nothing has been done to help us understand.
