Conspiracy Types Lecture Regular Folks at Ground Zero - The Village Voice: Power Plays

The fifth anniversary of 9-11 brought more sorrow and anguish to New York, but also more questioning of the official narrative of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

Hundreds of 9-11 conspiracists paraded across the street from ground zero Monday with their brazen signs—"9-11 WAS A U.S. BLACK OP"—during the solemn reading of the names of the 2,749 who perished in the twin towers. A surprising many people stopped to listen and seriously consider the "proof" offered by members of the so-called 9-11 truth movement, who spent the day lecturing people about how the towers were felled by explosives.

"Well, I do have questions," remarked one woman who came by on her lunch hour. "Like how were these hijackers who could barely fly a Cessna supposed to have piloted big planes into these buildings?"

A manic guy with bleach-blond hair seized on that to launch a rant about the maximum flame temperature of jet fuel and the physics of molten steel, dismissing recent efforts by the U.S. State Department and the National Institute of Standards and Technology to counter such rampant, freeform "expertise" as yet more "propaganda."

"Idiots!" shrieked a man overhearing him. "You guys probably believe Elvis is still alive."

But if people have doubts about what happened, it shouldn’t be surprising considering the lengths the Bush administration has gone to manipulate 9-11 and distort pre-war intelligence to justify the war in Iraq. And when people needed clear information about the air quality downtown, the feds instead gave them false assurances.

A Mickey Mouse 9/11 from ABC - onlinejournal.com

On Sunday and Monday nights, September 10 and 11, ABC TV, which is owned by Disney, the folks who brought you Mickey Mouse in 1928, plans to bring you a six-hour, $40 million docudrama, called “The Path to 9/11." It might well be called “The Path to Perdition,” seeing as how it bills itself as “an objective telling of the events of 9/11," when in fact the film was scripted by arch-conservative writer Cyrus Nowrasteh, whose friendship is claimed by no less than Rush Limbaugh. Don’t throw up yet. There’s more . . .

The film’s point is a twisting of the facts to blame former President Bill Clinton for the so-called “terrorist attacks” of 9/11. I smell Karl Rove. You may smell something else. Fortunately, you may have received an email from ActForChange asking you to contact ABC to “Tell the Truth About 9/11.”

ActForChange notes that “the list of counterterrorism initiatives undertaken by the Clinton Administration is lengthy and comprehensive. Regrettably, the record shows that most of these efforts were watered down or abandoned by the Bush administration when they came into office. History will also record that President Bush was the one who received -- and while on vacation, chose to ignore -- a Presidential Daily Briefing on August 6, 2001, entitled ‘Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US.’”

My record shows that when the U.S. Army had Osama bin Laden cornered in Tora Bora in December 2001, it let bin Laden slip through its hands into the no-man’s land between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Media Matters.org reports: “A CNN report on the search for Osama bin Laden noted that the insufficient number of U.S. forces in the mountains of Afghanistan in late 2001 allowed the Al Qaeda leader to escape capture. But the report omitted any reference to the recent revelation that the CIA specifically warned President Bush at the time that more U.S. troops were needed.” Odd Bush denied those troops to capture his arch foe. Or was that the desired effect?

There’s something rotten in America and this is it. The Empire’s attempt to perpetuate its infamy. Not only should “The Path to 9/11” be shut down. But those monies should have been used to tell the truth about 9/11, that the Towers may have been exploded by planned demolition not jet fuel, that there remains the absence of any real proof that “Islamic terrorists” did it, and that bin Laden is nothing more than a convenient patsy, playing a role bought and paid for by the CIA since 1979.

It sure looks "truthy". But it's not.

An article in the "Travel News and Comment" section of the Times of London yesterday (30-August 2006, but reported on Yahoo news today), by Mark Ferry has the headline:

Ryanair to allow mobile calls at 30,000ft

An important quote from Ryanair spokesman is "Ryanair will soon enable
passengers to use their mobile phones and electronic communications devices in
the air, just as they do on the ground. That means they will be able to pass on
the good news to workmates, friends and family that they are travelling on
another on-time flight with Europe's most punctual airline."

The importance of this article to the 9/11 truth movement is obvious. 
The simple question is why all the fanfare about this new technology, when calls
from airplanes were obviously not a problem on September 11th 2001??  Who
can ever forget "Hi mom this is Mark Bingham"??

Introduction.

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), has a unique relationship to and
place in history concerning modern world media. It is an entity which it has reported,
documented, educated and dramatised though it's various media the very world in
which it exists.  It is a national and international broadcasting
corporation established by a royal charter.  The organisation, although
having undergone significant changes due to the new-media technological
revolution, remains a behemoth.  The BBC has adapted continuously
over the decades to remain a leading world news and media source.  It has
diversified into foreign markets aggressively using it's impressive heritage, as
a powerful marketing tool.  Regardless of it's market friendly appearances
abroad, the BBC is still a state owned, state funded media conglomerate. 
The phrase media conglomerate is important, as the BBC exists in radio,
television, internet, and print publications.  The BBC importantly is a
state owned corporation belonging to the worlds 5th largest economy. 
Despite being publicly funded this corporation exists in the free market too,
and raises money across the world, through the sale of it's broadcasts and other
media related materials.  A giant of the media age, disguised often as the
honest broker of world affairs; the BBC is funded by an annual tax of $230 USD,
paid by every household in the UK, and still the corporation is able to sell
broadcasts across the world for even more money!  In 2005 the BBC has the
largest budget of any UK broadcaster with an operating expenditure of £4
billion/$7 billion USD (that's $7000,000,000 US).

An article by Professor James Fetezer (co-founder of 9-11 Scholars for truth ,http://www.st911.org) titled "Wikipedia: What it Doesn't Say about Scholars for 9/11 Truth" makes interested reading and is thought provoking considering the treatment of the 9/11 truth movement by Wikipedia, or the unseen hands and minds which control it. Wikipedia claims to be a non-biased searchable knowledge base, a "wiki", that is essentially a website that allows users to easily add, remove, edit available content. Wikipedia is a tremendous source of factual information, however we must always question the information and validate information independently of Wikipedia. If the general public feel that Wikipedia is a great source of "factual" information, you can be assured that the government has also realised and acted on this. If "REBUILDING AMERICA’S DEFENSES - Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century" is to be taken as a terms-of-reference for all that has transpired since September 11th 2001, then surely the statement "The Internet is also playing an increasingly important role in warfare and human political conflict" (page 69), needs to be taken as seriously as the often quoted "Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor" (page 63).
