Michael Shermer: Rebutting (Again!) the 9/11 Truthers

Presented with 11 questions by world911truth.org, Shermer compares 9/11 skepticism and inquiry to holocaust denial and creationism, only addresses questions related to the WTC destructions, and in doing so, relies on Eager's claim of pancaking (debunked by NIST), and then reposts material from the Implosion World 'debunking', previously debunked by Jim Hoffman: http://911research.wtc7.net/reviews/blanchard/index.html - loose nuke

Debunking Conspiracy Theories In 'Voodoo Histories'

When a co-worker told him that he believed Neil Armstrong's 1969 moon walk actually took place on a Hollywood soundstage, journalist David Aaronovitch was appalled. Aaronovitch had seen the moon landing on TV when he was a kid, and he couldn't believe anyone would think it was a hoax.

"He told me about the photographs that don't make sense, and the stars that aren't there, and the flag flapping in the nonexistent breeze, and so on," Aaronovitch tells Guy Raz.

At the time, Aaronovitch wasn't prepared with evidence to counter his co-worker's claim, but today he is. Aaronovitch spent six years looking into the details behind top conspiracy theories such as the faked Apollo moon landing and has come out with a new book to forensically debunk each of them.

Debunking the Maddox 9/11 morons page

Yes, finally. After being assaulted with the Maddox 9-11 page over and over again, and having no quick response, I am glad someone went and made an excellent article debunking his page.

It is partly satire (featuring redone cartoons) but also a serious debunking - like giving links to NIST and pop-mech debunk sites - as well as posting 3 full-length Alex Jones movies.

It answers all his accusations and statements.

Debunking Maddox

Makes a nice response link in the forums. :)

Free Talk Live Debunks 911 Truth

Now I've had it with FTL. Listen to this 16 minute segment here:

http://www.freechannel.org/FTL_911Debunk.mp3

I listen to Alex Jones and JackBlood daily on my ipod. Now and then I listen to FTL, they talk about Freedom and Liberty. Usually a 911 Truther will call in to the show, and they kinda debunk them. However, since they have came across the LC guide website, they think they are THE debunkers of the 911 'conspiracy'.

a quote from the end of this clip.
"all the 911 Truthers are doing is digging up dirt, doing research and SPOUTING OFF! They are not doing anything to advance Freedom in America."

Now they have gone too far!

FTL is on Genesis Communications Network, same as Alex Jones, same call in # 1-800-259-9231

Shooting down the best of 9/11 Conspiracy Theories

Updated Sun. Sep. 10 2006 1:49 PM ET

Michael Stittle, CTV.ca News

The first strike was a surprise, but when the second jetliner struck the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, dozens of cameras recorded the explosion. The world's major news organizations, alerted after the first plane hit, watched carefully. But in the chaos it was difficult to make sense of the attack, or even know that an attack had occurred.

Details emerged slowly. Structural engineers and other experts started investigating how the towers fell, until conjecture became fact: fuel heated the buildings' steel support columns, weakening the beams until the floors sagged and collapsed.

Yet five years after the terrible event, some believe there is more to the story -- that the official version of events is wrong. Just days before the anniversary, Steven Jones, a professor of physics at Brigham Young University in Utah, was suspended on paid leave because he argued explosives brought down the towers.

Conspiracy theories, many accusing the United States government of orchestrating the attacks, grew in popularity. A documentary called Loose Change, collecting these theories and stating them as the truth, became a underground hit on Google's online video website and YouTube.com.
