Impeachment: Bush Accused of Tyranny and Murder

WASHINGTON, DC - Today's hearing on the abuse of presidential powers before the House Committee on the Judiciary turned into a devastating political ambush by Chairman John Conyers (D-MI), committee Democrats, and the extraordinary panel of witnesses.. At least 12 Democratic Committee members were present plus the Chairman while only four Republicans bothered to show up.
Belying their casual appearance in the committee chambers, the Democrats presented a well coordinated, hard hitting case against President George W. Bush. This lead to a double climax in the form of surgically erudite testimony by conservative legal scholar Bruce Fein, a former Reagan administration official, and former Los Angeles District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi's stunning summary statement. The best the Republicans could offer was inappropriate humor by Rep. Don Lundgren (D-CA) and a request to clear the chambers when the audience cheered Mr. Bugliosi's remarks.
The hearing resulted from the non stop campaign for the impeachment of President George W. Bush by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH). That effort received an overwhelming endorsement last week with the votes of a 238 majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 229 Democrats and 9 Republicans voted to refer the single count impeachment bill to the House or Representatives Committee on the Judiciary chaired by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI).
The Kucinich Resolution - H.R. 1345 outlines the case for the impeachment of President Bush. Specifically, as president, Bush:
"Deceived Congress with fabricated threats of Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) to fraudulently obtain support for an authorization for the use of force against Iraq and used that fraudulently obtained authorization, and then acting in his capacity under Article II, Section II of the Constitution as Commander in Chief, to commit US troops to combat in Iraq."
There was speculation prior to the hearings that the Republicans might scuttle the entire process due to House rules that prevent disparaging comments about the president. Apparently they failed to read the entirety of House Practice, Sec. 25 which lists a number of negative comments that House members have used in the past and makes clear they're available in the present.
"Few issues more important"
Chairman Conyers opened the hearing by noting that there are "few issues more important" than the actions of Congress to curtail the abuse of presidential powers. As a member of the House committee that heard the Nixon Impeachment case, he speaks with a certain authority. He listed the various abuses of presidential power by Bush laying out the case that his fellow Democrats would elaborate. The senior member of the committee, Republican Lamar Smith (R-TX) responded that he'd seen a lot from this committee but today's hearing was like "hosting an anger management class."
Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL), a strong advocate for the hearings, responded by pointing out that given the evidence of high crimes, this isn't a Democratic or Republican issue, it's an American issue. The Democrats continued the theme of gravity with Cong. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) referring to Bush as "the worst president our country has ever suffered"
Cong. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-X) returned to what would lead to the most devastating and startling charges of the hearing - the basis for the invasion of Iraq and the disregard for civil liberties through the torture of foreigners and the domestic assault on privacy. Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) responded that the hearing was nothing but "a do-over that amuses our terrorist friends."
"If lying about casual sex" is an impeachment issue, "then certainly lying to the American people about invading Iraq" is, responded Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA). Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), another strong supporter of impeachment, continued the hard hitting attack
The Republicans were still not taking the hearing seriously when Cong. Don Lundgren resorted to nothing more than wise cracks in response.
Murder & Tyranny
The peroration came from conservative legal scholar Bruce Fein's testimony about the Bush administration's descent into tyranny. Had Bush showed up at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, he would have been barred at the door by George Washington, Fein said with confidence. He made the comment in a fashion that betrayed contempt for any defense of the Bush administration's behavior. Bush was labeled a tyrant from one of the best and brightest of the United States' legal establishment.
The finale was the testimony of former Los Angeles District Attorney, Vincent Bugliosi. As DA, Bugliosi tired and convicted Charles Manson of first degree murder gaining a death sentence even though the state admitted that Manson was never at the seen of the murders. In the past, Bugliosi has said that preparation is the key to winning cases and that he knows that he's won after the opening statement. With only five minutes, he had a tall task but the syllogism he established was air tight.
On October 1, 2002, President Bush was told that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction (WMD). On October 7th, Bush clamed that Iraq was a threat to the United States due to the possession of WMD. He then used this claim to justify the war in Iraq making him guilty for the death of over four thousand U.S. soldiers and over 100,000 documented deaths of Iraqi civilians.
There were other members of the witness panel, including the author of today's hearings Dennis Kucinich (D-O), Republican Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina, Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), and Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC). But it was the patient and cagey Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, his supporting cast of Democrats and the two star witnesses, Fein and Bugliosi who made charges of rule by tyranny and murder - charges that will not be easily forgotten no matter how much the mainstream media and politicians choose to ignore this issue.

It looks we the people need to be the media and broadcast this news one email at a time.
Even though this is not our cause (Investigating 9/11) I believe it may be a wedge that will open that door for us.
This need to be seen by everyone. especially the Bugliosi speeches. They are forceful and easy to understand.

Compare this to the non-stop media circus around the Clinton impeachment hearings and it's enough to make one believe all media is actually controlled by powerful allies of the Bush administration.

The photo itself is very telling. Anderson and the brilliant, passionate Fein are depicted as dozing with disinterest beside the pathetic stooge Presser.

The left, led by diminutive Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), wants impeachment proceedings against the lame-duck president. That says it all. Anyone who can think critically about politics can see that this is true. I think the US mainstream media is corporate-controlled as well, but that doesn't stop me from applying basic critical thinking skills to various stories and noticing that a good deal of them are true as hell. And, if you think about it, in order to tell big lies, you have to use a copious helping of the truth. Some things are just too simple and obvious to bother to spin; everyone can see that this hearing is nothing more than an exercise. The public doesn't care about the impeachment of GWB or Cheney. We will be electing a new president in a few months. Impeachment proceedings would not help anyone. These things are obvious.
I'm all in favor of a renewed investigation into 911 and all that, but an activism that ignores basic things like the perception of the public towards impeachment proceedings will be written off as useless, time-wasting ravings of people who rave about everything their perceived enemies do in a knee-jerk fashion.
Any sort of paint-by-numbers approach to politics is bound to become disrespected in broad circles - though it may l be defended within little, ineffectual groups.

The fact that it currently exists in chopped up segments and cut audio (such as Fine's "how to" sentences), scattered across the net from those few pieces uploaded so far... hardly gives you enough information to know all what was said and more substantially, FELT!!!

Though the horrendous criminals in the Bush administration have tried to push their Guantanamo tribunals as the new "Nuremberg," what we witnessed July 25th was the beginning of the "real" parallel to Nuremberg.
Just as the Nazi party demanded "loyalty" from their ranks above all else, and just as they exploited the Reichstag fire to ram through dictatorial legislation, and just as they justified "preventative wars" to ostensibly defend their Fatherland, and just as they used torture and spying on their own as tools to accomplish their dreams of empire, so too has the cult that has hijacked the Republican Party, and unfortunately, infects the Democratic leadership as well.
Like the Allied prosecutors at Nuremberg, the few members of Congress who still defend our Constitution and put "people" before the corrupting nature of "politics" have been given a chance before the world to courageously stand up and expose the crimes enthusiastically promulgated by the world's new Nazis.
Let us hope they succeed. For as Elizabeth Holtzman stated in her testimony, "God help us" if they don't. The very essence of America depends on it. "I mean the country, our Constitution, and our democracy."

Its my view that the events of 9/11/2001 offer the best window ever opened into the malfeasances of our militarized, capitalized and corporatized body politic...ever!
And I doubt that there is ONE Truther who, looking at Fein and Holtzman [and others] doesn't feel that what they are all talking about IS THE WHOLE POINT of all of our complaints...or, at least the major point of these violations by The Bush Crime Family and the militarists and corporatists behind it all. Without doubt, any innocent's death by any hand are major complaints also. And for me personally, I see the basis of the latest malfeasances being rooted in war...and thusly, I join Dennis Kucinich's chorus of complaints about warmongering too.
So, how to handle such "parallel" events making them mutually supportive...ie: The 9/11 Truth Movement, The Pro-Constitution [Impeachment-Throw the Bums Out] Movemet and the Peace Movements?
Well, I think that the most mature and effective way to handle this is to find out where Conyers, Fein and Holtzman live and then:
...ask Alex Jones and at least one representative from every We Are Change organization all across the country to all fly into WDC...and
...make sure that they are all wearing anarchistic black from headto-toe and have their "issued bullhorn"...then
...begin to bullhorn outside Conyer's, Fein's and Holtzman's homes 24/7 that 9/11 was an inside job...and
...scream out that they are not "real patriots" and are in fact only SHEEPLE because they do not "get it yet"...and don't forget to throw in a few "traitors" because that ALWAYS helps with the communicatuions and messaging...then
...when Conyers, Fein and Holtzman get in their cars to travel anywhere, follow them as closely as possible honking their horns, and while hanging out their windows start pumping their fists in the air and yelling about the CFR, the Federal Reserve, the Illumenatti, Chemtrails, HAARP and that Ron Paul is the answer...and for sure
...have it all videotaped from at least five different angles so that all the cameramen can be seen taking pictures of their fellow cameramen who are taking pictures of them, thus forming a "circle quorum", just so that it all can be included in the latest release of Truth Rising just to show everyone how patriotic the 9/11 Truthers really ARE.
Yeah, that oughtta do it...dontcha think? That'll pull all the people in the middle right over onto our side before you can even snap your fingers...yeah, I like that idea...its always worked in the past hasn't it?

...as soon as possible, take these two videos supplied by rep and comingle them with all the other videos that we are handing out about 9/11...then
...Truthers should create and print out simple 1/4 page "info sheets" to hand out...or...post cards, or whatever that will steer folks to our great websites, the awsome online movies, the many heroic books that the 9/11 Truth Movement has created...then
...change out the BLACK wardrobes, add some positive imagery...regular summertime stuff...maybe even a peace shirt or something...then
...swap out the WE DEMAND RIGHT NOW EVERYTHING THAT WE WANT RIGHT NOW signs and banners and paint up some different ones that comingle POSITIVE messaging, or INFORMATIVE messaging, or SEDUCTIVE messaging...then
...everyone should look into doing some CI at least once a week in their local towns in busy pedestrian/vehicular areas like outside ball parks, at concerts, across the streeets from churches, and inside outdoor fairs, in order to add a few original examples and ideas to what other folks have already done in becoming our own media, and to being our own educators...then
...have some very nice talks with some of the MILLIONS of very nice people that ARE very concerned about the direction this country is headed...then
...remember that these are also the same GOOD folks who simply DO NOT want to be yelled at by some 20-30 somethings [or anybody for that matter] about ANYTHING...let alone the attacks on 9/11 and the CFR...then

...grab a few beers or glasses of wine, or ? [Ron Paul is good for some things...], relax and chat over what worked and what didn't work that day, think about other places that you can do some CI in the area, or what other things you can do...then
...make plans for next week, get back home, crank up the computer, read about what new stuff is in the 9/11 pipeline, add your two bits, make some more handouts or DVDs, figure out even better ways to reach "the middle grounders" out there, such as the people of peace...then
...ponder at exactly how BIG an opportunity the events of 9/11/2001 may actually be IF we handle it effectively in both social and political ways helping bring power back to the people...then
...you will no longer have an urge to have the 9/11 Truth Movement remain associated with the FRINGES...because the 9/11 Truth Movement is ANYTHING BUT a fringe movement...except
...when we allow it to inhabit the FRINGE through our very own behaviors and through our very own associations with "fringitis parasitis"...a destructive set of entities well known to bring down many a monsterous movement from within its own gut...then

Even though Ron Paul was not at this hearing, his lead attorney for his Presidential run (Bruce Fein) was there & Bob Barr did a very solid job of representing the Libertarian party.
So, you are right to ask where was he? but his political friends, puled some weight.
I was very impressed w/ Barr, Fein, Bugliosi & Rocky Anderson.
The entire procedings was broadcasted live on CSPAN.
MAKE NO MISTAKE, Friday's hearings was a GOOD thing & a nice first step of real accountabilty.
Bugliosi mentioned that it would be wiser to prosecute after the elections.
Libertarian voice is important in the mix
I am very glad that the Libertarian voice is being heard, but Libertarianism is still a fringe group...but an interesting one. Ron Paul is not "the" basis of Libertarianism...he is just this election cycle's chosen fellow...but operating under the republican party this time...and for a reason
I just think that the HI PERPS [and republican party] saw an opportunity to glom onto the 9/11TM and thusly, to marginalize it. This is a brilliant cointelpro...again...because Libertarians got a free ride upwards by grabbing the expanding coattails of the 9/11TM, and by using its energy and its new presence in public to expose Ron Paul in ways that it would NEVER have had the chance to become exposed on his own.
But, in doing so, it thusly associated some of the amazing 9/11 Truthers, who are of all sorts of political types, with the Libertarian extremists...which in turn, alientated the 9/11 Truth Movement from the Peace Movement and the majority of "mainstream citizenry".
The "peace"element may seem counterintuitive as ONE of the planks in the Libertarian platform appears to be an anti-war position, but it is not counterintuitive at all...its strictly a political move by the Military Industrial Complex through the Republican Party to elect a Republican for president in the fall...[which I predict is indeed going to happen..McCain or someone else...].
As Nader pulled votes from Gore, and Perot pulled votes from GHW Bush, so will the Libertarian element draw some "anti-war" votes from Obama. Most folks think that Obama is a progressive...hardly so...and we will continue to see a rapid shift back to the center, his natural position. Not that it matters because, unless knee-jerk liberals have taken many, many doses of "grow-up" pills between now and the election, and unless progressives put TWO clothes pins on their noses, close their eyes and still pull the democratic lever, and unless the Greens become satisfied with their recent growth and can see that the third party thing is a "process" of long term growth, and thus, they also ultimately pull the democratic lever in November, many, many anti-war votes will be drawn away from Obama and placed elsewhere. This is just ONE of the reasons that I think Obama will lose.
After GHWB, Clinton, GWB, Gore and Kerry, the Ivy Leagues simply could not put up another "pasty white guy from the Ivies" to run for the presidency. So, they cultivated, errr, INVENTED...a "pasty black guy from the Ivies" to run for presidency in 08'. Matters little who is president because the puppet strings go upward from these candidates' arms and legs, and not downward from the puppetmasters string board.
So, the average "person of peace" is a progressive or a liberal...meaning...the peace movement is at at the far opposite end of the political spectrum from the Libertarian movement. Indeed, there is very little harmony between the libertarian/conservative and the progressive/liberal...except two:
...the war+peace issue, and at that, its because of very, very different reasons...
...and the respect of the constitution...yet again for some very different reasons as the opposite interpretations of parts of the constitution serve as the main difference between the two political wings to begin with...
Hence, you will not get a person of peace to stand with a libertarian for much of anything because the person of peace sees both...that:
... the solution lies NOT in Libertarianism, but actually, at the opposite end of political change, progressiveism...
...and also that the libertarian group is a very small and marginalizing effort and is not YET a powerful force in this country...something to be heartily avoided...
So, the cointelpros saw a wonderful opportunity to slyly become devisive within the 9/11TM...and they helped make it all happen. This cointelpro action has taken place well above even Ron Paul and his political campaign managers...just follow the money if you could!
Sadly, this cointelpro action marginalized some really great "non-libertarian" people in the 9/11 Truth Movement by the unnatural association with Ron Paul and fringe libertarianism. Ron Paul has publically undermined the 9/11 Truth Movement.
Interestingly, late Libertarian activities have also established to identify pure libertarians who used the 9/11 Truth Movement for their own political asperations once their "agendas" became exposed by the persistence of 9/11 Truth seeking. I speak of Kevin Barrett who I DO hope gets elected because he is a far better fit in the Libertarian Party, and politics in general, than he is in the maturing 9/11 Truth Movement.
So, seeing this "TWO-FER" right in front of them, the Pentagon/Republican Party threw some fairly big money into The Ron Paul Experiment...who was a "republican presidential primary candidate" HMMM?
THIS money allegedly CAME from the military in Iraq? Think again on that one. Do you really think that a soldier in Iraq who wanted to end the war and get outta there would spend money on Ron Paul over supporting a democratic nominee? I think not.
In fact, I think that you will find that Obama was recently "steered away from" visiting injured soldiers NOT because it would be seen as a political act, but BECAUSE Obama would get the TRUTH from the soldiers...and that truth has absolutely NOTHING to do with Ron Paul. The Pentagon has real problems with this "truth thing"...which is why they hide all their injured well away in miliary hospitals so that few average folks can se the results of war. Some things are very simple. Its another "don't film the caskets thing"...
For the cointepros, hacking the 9/11 Truth Movement has been a day at the beach...however, we got through Reynolds...we have made it past Tarpley's devisiveness...we have debunked many other attempts to discredit us...and we will continue to do so because of the "human metal" of the 9/11 Truthers. This has nothing to do with Ron Paul.
This modernized "9/11 Truth Movement" is at least slightly different from cointelpro actions of yesteryear where it was much easier to accomplish...aka...the peace movement STILL doesn't know that it is hacked as of this very day...DUHHH?
So, the sooner that the 9/11TM gains solid distance from Ron Paul, Chemtrails, HAARP, ANY formal fringe political party or candidate, and all other "fringitis parisitises" out there, and continues what it does best...seek the truth about 9/11, and create ways to be our own media and be our own educators of and for the people, the SOONER the 9/11 Truth Movement, and its great soul, will make it into the mainstream citizenry.
Until then, all these tangential associations will draw energy FROM the 9/11 Truth Movement under the guise of contributing to it.

I find it incredible that people here actually think...
...that these hearings have any sort of future. It seems like the 911 Truth Movement gets all excited about things that just are not going to go anywhere - like Steve Alten's "Shell Game", like stupid music videos, like stillborn political stunts...
Look, the hearings on Saturday didn't even inspire a yawn from the public. The public is not interested at all. These hearings have no future. The subject of impeachment or criminal prosecution of the president and high officials arose a couple of years ago, it was considered and now the impetus for it has completely subsided. Kucinich is trying to revive a corpse.
What will probably happen after Obama is in office and the honeymoon is over, is that the price of oil will recommence its upward trajectory and will bump its head on demand destruction once again - a painful process. And this pattern will be very, very rough on average Americans. Great leeway will be given to oil companies to exploit the reserves in Iraq. Troops will remain stationed. Obama will have to reverse himself. But the politics of America's dire predicament don't favor the seeking of justice for the crimes of G and Dick in the ways that people on this forum hope will happen.
I think that the best activism continues to be first-rate documentaries, movies, books and historical analysis which gives solid information to people about what is really happening in the world. If the energy crisis becomes more severe, people will struggle to solve it in as expedient a manner as possible. I can well-envision the Republicans heralding Bush/Cheney for engineering a permanent American presence in the last cheap oil region left on the planet.
I was hoping to see "Shadowplay" or other docs come out before now that accurately and cogently describe the relationship between Peak Oil and 911. Because if America is facing an energy crisis of dire proportions, the citizenry is not going to take the time to prosecute issue of the past. They will be worrying about saving their asses in the present.
