Abby Martin Explains Why Fluoride Is Poison (Video)

Russia Today presenter, Abby Martin, takes a look at the 50-year-long tradition of adding fluoride to drinking water in America.

In this video she outlines the adverse health effects that ingesting fluoride has, and breaks the myth that drinking it helps to prevent tooth decay.

People spend money adding Fluorosilicic Acid to local water supplies throughout America

In most cases, the fluoridation program is not the addition of medical grade sodium fluoride to the drinking supply, but Hexafluorosilicic acid, a toxic byproduct of the phosphate fertilizer industry. As scientific studies continue to mount demonstrating the harmful effects of fluoridation on people’s bones, liver, thyroid, IQ, and, ironically enough, teeth, a concerned public has increasingly begun banding together across party lines to get the toxins removed from the water supply.

Here is Dartmouth College Research Professor and Nelson A. Rockefeller Professor of Government Emeritus, Roger D Masters’ scientific paper on SiFs (also called “fluosilicic acid” and “fluorosilicic acid“).

The fight against water fluoridation.  In recent years citizen-led groups have successfully campaigned for the removal of fluoride from the water supply of cities around the globe, from Calgary, Alberta to Windsor, Ontario to Hamilton, New Zealand to the entire country of Israel, and Portland, Oregon recently voted to keep fluoride out of their water supply.

What does this have to do with 9/11 ?

Seems to me that posting this topic may have the effect of needlessly compromising the credibility of this site with those who do not subscribe to the argument that "Fluoride is poison". Yes, fluoride is poisonous in some concentrations and some formulations, but controlled and proper usage can be arguably beneficial. Fluoridation is not a clear-cut issue, unlike 9/11, where is is very clear that some aspects of the government response to the event were clearly criminal (and have not been properly investigated and prosecuted.)

"Fluoridation is not a clear-cut issue"

unlike 9/11, you haven't done your homework.

Start Here: http://fluoridealert.org/

What does this have to do with 9/11 ? --ANSWER--

What does Fluoride have to do with 9/11 ?

Wildbear, you have a point.

This is a very valid question:
What does this have to do with 9/11 ?

I thank the moderators for allowing the above posted entry, because the link of Fluoride to 9/11 is shrouded (obscured).

There is a link of Fluoride to 9/11/01 in a number of ways...

BASIC FACT
9/11 is the pivotal event of our time. 9/11 is the BIG LIE. It is the Mother of all lies for our time.

When a person wakes up to the fraud of 9/11, (hopefully) they start "down the rabbit hole" of exploring the many, many frauds perpetrated by powers of influence.

Hopefully, a person discovers the despicable lies and fraud surrounding FLUORIDE and its insidiousness (proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects and with crafty, treacherous propaganda).

See this Dallas website for links and information about Fluoride.
Dogs Against Fluoridation - http://www.dogsagainstfluoridation.com/
Many members of our Dallas “North Texans for 9/11 Truth” group are working very hard with the campaign to stop water fluoridation.

Not to toot my own horn, but I am degreed in Environmental Science with added studies in Biological-Chemistry and Nutritional Supplements and Alternative Health practices. While I am not a “top expert” on all these things, some aspects about Fluoride are just basic “higher order thinking skills” if a person has had High School Chemistry and Biology (and paid attention during class).

~~~~~
FLUORIDE
Fluoride (Fluorine) is the MOST REACTIVE of all elements and it is the most electronegative element. (This means that it attracts electrons in other molecules more powerfully than any other element can.)
So, F- will react with nearly every other element, because it is the most reactive.
When ingested, it easily “overpowers” and replaces or reacts with other chemicals, chemicals which are found throughout the body. And the body makes hundreds of thousands of chemicals (an estimated 70,000 enzymes alone). Via nutrition, these body chemicals go through complicated sequential steps requiring all kinds of other chemicals. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to use “higher order critical thinking skills” to figure out that fluoride can easily mess up the biological-chemical process within the body. Fluoride easily alters the composition of body chemicals, because it can easily react with other body chemicals. Fluoride is NOT a natural nutrient for any metabolic process. In fact, even according to the government (CDC), about half of the ingested fluoride accumulates within the body.
The point here is that ingesting Fluoride is harmful.
~~~~~

9/11/01 and RESEARCH
However, with Fluoride, just like 9/11, a person needs to LOOK, to research, to use thorough inspection and caring attentiveness with recognition.

Having “INTEREST” and curiosity is a key to research. “INTEREST” or curiosity in matters of substance can also be a measure of one’s own “aliveness”. This lack of this “interest” aspect is easy to notice in the “walking dead” among us.

A person needs to use “Higher Order Critical Thinking Skills” in researching Fluoride or 9/11 (or other topics)… understand relative importances, substance and meaningfulness – not soft ideas in the head, nor armchair intellectualism with no resulting action nor participation.
A person can’t be shallow in their understanding or action, as that trait reflects their own personal worth.

Some “Don’t” ‘s in Research…
…Don’t solely rely on “parroting” what an authority stated.
…Don’t let bias, prejudice, preconceived or false ideas block the road to understanding.
…Don’t just be a “crowd follower” nor "puppet" of some marketing fad or mob or group.

We all know how these “don’t”’s affect people regarding the lie of 9/11.
Examples with Fluoride: Understanding is often hindered with “water fluoridation occurs in many other cities” or “the American Dental Association says water fluoridation is wonderful”.

~~~~~
“DUMBED DOWN” 9/11/01 and Fluoride
We all see how “some people don’t get it” when it comes to 9/11. Maybe they can’t do RESEARCH. Maybe they can’t confront it. Maybe they have no interest. Under our breath, we may say: “How gutless, shallow and stupid can this guy be?!”
There is a connection here with Fluoride. Fluoride DOES dumb people down.
(This is not something one would necessarily point out in a public campaign to stop fluoridation, because it sounds like a conspiracy theory…aggh!...maybe like a 9/11 Truther!)
Scientific studies demonstrate this “dumb down effect” repeatedly.
Fluoride definitely lowers IQ.
Fluoride’s actions on important body minerals and enzymes interfere with many brain, glandular, hormone and neurological factors. Fluoride also affects the quality of “awareness” and of “emotion” and of “vibrant personal energy or willpower” as a result of this interference. By weakening these important mental-related functions and also weakening the entire body’s health system, we end up with a WEAK INDIVIDUAL.
A weak individual responds weakly.
A healthy, high IQ, aware and vibrantly curious individual responds appropriately and often courageously.
My point is that Fluoride can bring down a person’s general awareness and his ability to confront the subject of 9/11/01.
We, in the 9/11 Movement are trying to raise awareness and get people to confront 9/11.
Fluoridated Water is an enemy to the 9/11 Movement.
FRAUDS EXPOSED – Health Issues and 9/11/01
The climate for getting the word out about the fraud of 9/11 has changed over the past 9 years. In 2006, the film Loose Change, Dr. Steven Jones and others hit the scene hard. Google Trends - https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=9%2F11
However, in 2006, it was a “battlefield” out there when trying to get information out about 9/11. The public was not as receptive as they are today. Many members at “North Texans for 9/11 Truth” have approached thousands and thousands and thousands of people over the years and can attest to the change in atmosphere. Dissemination of information has now become easier and less restrictive. Now a HUGE number of people are aware that 9/11 is a fraud.
As frauds are exposed, in the beginning they are often resisted.
Eventually, we often see the truth prevail and then it becomes an “everybody knows”.
So it goes with HEALTH ISSUES. Here are a few examples:
~~ Lead in gasoline also once occurred in all U.S. cities.
~~ DDT – It took ten years after Rachel Carson’s 1962 book in to get this pesticide banned.
~~ CFC – In 1974, the detrimental effects were exposed. Finally, in the early 1990’s production was curbed.
~~ Mercury – Now recognized as one of the most toxic metals. Currently, if a mercury thermometer is broken at a school, the HazMat team is called in.
~~ Vitamin D – Many researchers have long pointed out the value of this important nutrient. However, in the mid and late 1990’s, a person would be laughed at and ridiculed as a conspiracy theorist for presenting the value of this nutrient. Currently, many conventional Doctors test for this nutrient as part of a routine examination.
~~ Methylation – More conventional Doctors are now running tests for methylation factors, recognizing from the many scientific studies that perhaps 50% of the population have a genetic issue regarding this important body mechanism which can lead to a vast assortment of ailments.
~~ Big Pharma - There are many examples of pharmaceutical drugs which have been pulled as a result of their adverse health effects.
~~ Organic Foods – In the 1990’s, organic gardeners were laughed at. Now, this segment of the food marketplace is the MOST rapidly growing category in grocery stores.
~~ Stevia – The sweet Stevia conspiracy. A healthy plant known for the natural sweetness of its leaves (no sugar) became outlawed as a sweetener. In fact, in the 1990’s, the FDA raided a North Texas Stevia warehouse and burned all the cookbooks regarding Stevia. I should mention Donald Rumsfeld, of 9/11/01 fame, who was in the private sector in the 80’s to get the artificial sweetener aspartame approved despite its toxicity. Stevia was a major marketplace competitor to aspartame. Now, Stevia is found in the grocery section. (Even though Stevia is currently found on grocery shelves, some products because of their manufacturing might be dubious.)
Trending HEALTH ISSUES, a few examples:
~~ Vaccines – Even mainstream news is now reporting on the trend of people refusing vaccines.
~~ Mercury Dental Fillings – Despite the American Dental Association’s assurance that mercury dental fillings are absolutely safe, more and more people are having them removed or are opting for other approaches.
~~ Cholesterol – Lipitor is the bestselling pharmaceutical of all time. Their PR campaign was very effective. Many Doctors are now looking at the more valid research of cardiovascular problems tied to elevated homocysteine levels (see methylation and SAMe).
~~ Non-GMO – While the “Anti Genetically Modified Foods Movement” has been sidelined for a number of years, in 2015 more and more brands are onboard, touting that their product is not genetically modified.
~~ Alternative and Nutritional Health. This industry is growing almost as fast as the organic foods segment. More and more people do not trust conventional medicine nor the pharmaceutical companies.
~~ FLUORIDE – The trend of people finding out about Fluoride’s toxicity is accelerating at a rapid pace. Home water filtration systems to remove fluoride are a rapidly growing business segment across the internet.
[Sidenote: The Shih Tzu puppy photo at the top of the previously mentioned website, Dogs Against Fluoridation - http://www.dogsagainstfluoridation.com/ I have intensely spent the past many weeks with that Shih Tzu. Through nutritional and holistic approaches I and others have cured her of what conventional medicine calls “incurable”. (The FDA doesn’t like me to use the word “cure”, so I will say “resolved”.) The Shih Tzu had a form of the deadly / incapacitating Encephalitis known as Granulomatous meningoencephalitis (GME). Many dogs live only 8 days after diagnosis. Conventionally, if they survive they are on medications and steroids which shorten their lifespan and cause other health issues. It is a heartbreaking condition. Examples: 18 seconds - http://youtu.be/FdvzGyfwCiw 25 seconds - http://youtu.be/9nk4PQww060 ]
The point here is that just like the fraud of 9/11, people become aware of the frauds regarding health issues. Fluoride is a big health issue.
WAKING UP - The fraud of 9/11/01 and its interrelation to the fraud of Health Issues (or the fraud of other Issues)
I have personally spoken with well over 10,000 people about 9/11 through the years.
Currently, I spend a lot of time in the field of nutrition and on a busy day may speak to over 100 people about nutritional supplements and health. I never hesitate to segue the conversation to 9/11 if I can find an appropriate opening. I run into a tremendous number of people who know about 9/11 including architects, engineers, Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lawyers, “celebrities or people of public influence”, etc.
A common THEME is that when a person wakes up to one fraud, it can open the door to exposing other frauds.
I find this repeatedly. A person researches and finds out that he has been lied to about a health issue or an economic issue, then he starts to look at “What else have I been lied to about?”
Of course, in my current exposure with people, I deal with health issues. Often people discover the lies surrounding health, prompting them to research other issues, including 9/11.
It works both ways. A person can discover the fraud of 9/11, then research other frauds as they go “down the rabbit hole”.
My point is that as folks discover the fraud of toxic Fluoride, then they are more prone to discovering the fraud 9/11.
They are waking up from that direction.
It is all about waking people up on the most appropriate routes.
~~~~~

BOTTOM LINE
9/11 is the pivotal event of our time. 9/11 is the BIG LIE. It is the Mother of all lies for our time.

This lie is foundational.
Knock it out and the whole structure of fraud starts to fall.

Quoting TomT -

"A common THEME is that when a person wakes up to one fraud, it can open the door to exposing other frauds."

Water Fluoridation Linked to Higher ADHD Rates
By Douglas Main 3/10/15

New research shows there is a strong correlation between water fluoridation and the prevalence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, in the United States.

It’s the first time that scientists have systematically studied the relationship between the behavioral disorder and fluoridation, the process wherein fluoride is added to water to prevent cavities.

The study, published in the journal Environmental Health, found that states with a higher portion of artificially fluoridated water had a higher prevalence of ADHD. This relationship held up across six different years examined. The authors, psychologists Christine Till and Ashley Malin at Toronto’s York University, looked at the prevalence of fluoridation by state in 1992 and rates of ADHD diagnoses in subsequent years.

“States in which a greater proportion of people received artificially-fluoridated water in 1992 tended to have a greater proportion of children and adolescents who received ADHD diagnoses [in later years], after controlling for socioeconomic status,” Malin says. Wealth is important to take into account because the poor are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD, she says. After income was adjusted for, though, the link held up.

Take Delaware and Iowa, for instance. Both states have relatively low poverty rates but are heavily fluoridated; they also have high levels of ADHD, with more than one in eight kids (or 14 percent) between the ages of four and 17 diagnosed.

In the study, the scientists produced a predictive model which calculated that every one percent increase in the portion of the U.S. population drinking fluoridated water in 1992 was associated with 67,000 additional cases of ADHD 11 years later, and an additional 131,000 cases by 2011, after controlling for socioeconomic status.

“The results are plausible, and indeed meaningful,” says Dr. Philippe Grandjean, a physician and epidemiologist at Harvard University. This and other recent studies suggest that we should “reconsider the need to add fluoride to drinking water at current levels,” he adds.

Thomas Zoeller, a scientist at UMass-Amherst who studies endocrine disruptors—chemicals that interfere with the activity of the body’s hormones, something fluoride has been shown to do—says that this is “an important observation in part because it is a first-of-a-kind. Given the number of children in the U.S. exposed to fluoridation, it is important to follow this up.” Since 1992, the percentage of the U.S. population that drinks fluoridated water has increased from 56 percent to 67 percent, during which time the percentage of children with an ADHD diagnosis has increased from around seven percent to more than 11 percent, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Others felt more strongly. “The numbers of extra cases associated with a one percent increase in the 1992 artificial fluoridation [figures] are huge,” says William Hirzy, an American University researcher and former risk assessment scientist at the Environmental Protection Agency, who is also a vocal opponent of fluoridation. “In short, it clearly shows that as artificial water fluoridation increases, so does the incidence of ADHD.”

But scientists were quick to point out that this is just one study, and doesn’t prove that there is necessarily a causal link between fluoridation and ADHD. They also noted a number of important limitations: Individual fluoride exposures weren’t measured, ADHD diagnoses weren’t independently verified and there may be other unknown confounding factors that explain the link.

Dr. Benedetto Vitiello, a researcher at the National Institutes of Health, says that the link between the two may not be a causal one and could be explained by regional or cultural factors. Charles Poole, an epidemiologist at the University of North Carolina, says that this research suggests fluoride should be more carefully studied, but doesn’t show much of anything by itself. “I think the authors were quite cautious in their interpretation… and [accurate] in their statement of the study’s limitations,” he says. “So it would be ludicrous to draw a strong conclusion based on this study alone.”

Nevertheless, previous research has suggested that there may be several mechanisms by which fluoride could interfere in brain development and play a role in ADHD, says Dr. Caroline Martinez, a pediatrician and researcher at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital.

Animal studies in the 1990s by researcher Phyllis Mullenix, at the Harvard-affiliated Forsyth Research Institute, showed that rats exposed to fluoride in the womb were much more likely to behave in a hyperactive manner later in life. This could be due to direct damage or alteration to the development of the brain. (Mullenix’s adviser told her she was “jeopardizing the financial support” of her institution by “going against what dentists and everybody have been publishing for fifty years, that [fluoride] is safe and effective,” and she was fired shortly after one of her seminal papers was accepted for publication, according to Grandjean and a book by investigative journalist Christopher Bryson called The Fluoride Deception.)

Multiple studies also suggest that kids with moderate and severe fluorosis—a staining and occasional mottling of the teeth caused by fluoride—score lower on measures of cognitive skills and IQ. According to a 2010 CDC report, a total of 41 percent of American youths ages 12 to 15 had some form of fluorosis. Another study showed structural abnormalities in aborted fetuses from women in an area of China with high naturally occurring levels of fluoride.

There have also been about 40 studies showing that children born in areas home to water with elevated levels of this chemical (higher than the concentrations used in U.S. water fluoridation) have lower-than-normal IQs. Grandjean and colleagues reviewed 27 such studies that were available in 2012, concluding that all but one of them showed a significant link; children in high fluoride areas had IQs that were, on average, seven points below those of children from areas with low concentrations of the substance.

One recent small study of fewer than 1,000 people in New Zealand suggested that water fluoridation didn’t decrease IQ. But that study had some serious errors, according to Grandjean, who writes that “a loss of 2-3 IQ points could not be excluded by their findings.” And only a small percentage of people in the study actually lived all their lives in areas without fluoridation, and even less didn’t use fluoride toothpaste, severely limiting the validity and relevance of the findings, he says.

About 90 percent of the fluoride that is added to the water takes the form not of pharmaceutical grade sodium fluoride but of a chemical called fluorosilicic acid (or a salt formed using the acid). This material is a byproduct of phosphate fertilizer manufacturing, according to the CDC. Several studies have suggested that this form of fluoride can leach lead from pipes, says Steve Patch, at UNC-Asheville. Other work shows that children in fluoridated areas have elevated blood lead levels, and fluoride may also increase the absorption of lead into the body, says Bruce Lanphear, an epidemiologist at Simon Fraser University. Lead itself is a potent neurotoxin and has been shown to play a role in ADHD, Lanphear adds.

There is also good evidence the fluoride impairs the activity of the thyroid gland, which is important for proper brain development, says Kathleen Thiessen, a senior scientist at the Oak Ridge Center for Risk Analysis, which does human health risk assessments for a variety of environmental contaminants. This could indirectly explain how the chemical could impair attentional abilities, she says.

Just last month, a study was published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, which found that there were nine percent more cases of hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, in fluoridated versus non-fluoridated locations in England.

“Fluoride appears to fit in with a pattern of other trace elements such as lead, methylmercury, arsenic, cadmium and manganese—adverse effects of these have been documented over time at exposures previously thought to be ‘low’ and ‘safe,’” Martinez says.

Grandjean concurs, citing a 2014 study he co-authored with researcher Philip Landrigan in The Lancet that characterizes fluoride as a developmental neurotoxin. Others, like Lanphear, prefer to call the chemical a “suspected developmental neurotoxin.” One problem, he says, is that there is no formal process for determining whether or not something is toxic to the brain.

The CDC declined to comment on the study, but maintains the fluoridation is “safe and effective,” and calls fluoridation one of the “ten great public health achievements” of the twentieth century for its role in preventing tooth decay. The American Dentistry Association says that the process reduces decay rates by 25 percent. It should be noted, though, that in recent decades rates of cavities have declined by similar amounts in countries with and without fluoridation—and the United States is one of the few Western countries besides Ireland and Australia that fluoridate the water of a majority of the populace.

Limitations aside, the study suggests that there is a pressing need to do more research on the neurotoxicity of fluoride, Lanphear says. In fact, every single researcher contacted said that fluoridation should be better studied to understand its toxicity and low-dose effects on the brain. Some deemed the lack of research on the chemical concerning and surprising, given how long it’s been around—fluoride was first added to water supplies beginning after World War II.
Regarding whether or not fluoridation is a sound public health practice, he says that he “can’t make that decision for the public, but I’d certainly recommend that more studies are done, in an urgent fashion.”

Thanks for this topic

Fluoridealert.org (linked above) has compiled some great information on how ineffective water fluoridation has been, and how incidence of tooth decay has steadily declined independent of, and perhaps counterindicative to water fluoridation. I think this is all that's really needed to convince rational people.
