I find it astounding how this scientific fraud of the basic physics (read: those like myself and anyone who has taken high school or college intro physics) is able to survive. The power of propaganda and the narrative, I suppose. Only a cursory reading of the 9/11 Commission Report and one can see how much attention was paid to the 'narrative'.
On the point of the 'narrative': look at least at the first few minutes of this NOVA special "The Spy Factory". To the extent that 'Al Quaida' even exists -- a group notorious of late for blowing up their shoes and their underwear -- whatever one can say this is not the Soviet Empire.
