New BBC Conspiracy files programme: 9/11 Ten Years On

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0148yz5

A decade after the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, the Conspiracy Files looks at why some people still question what really happened on 9/11. Conspiracy theories continue to evolve and now question every aspect of the official account. Why, they ask, was the hole in the Pentagon so small? Why did the World Trade Centre buildings collapse as if being demolished by explosives? Why did one skyscraper fall when it was never hit by a plane? And why was the world's greatest military power so unprepared and so slow to react when warnings had been received?

The death of Osama Bin Laden might have been expected to put an end to the conspiracy theories, but the failure to release any pictures of Bin Laden's death and the hasty disposal of his body in the Arabian Sea, has instead given these theories a new burst of life.

Featuring key witnesses, CIA and FBI interviewees and leading sceptics, the programme analyses the evidence and looks at what makes conspiracy theories so persistent and so powerful.

BBC's premature

report on WTC7 collapse is covered by Amy Goodman on Democracy Now! in a segment on the new internet archive of 911 TV coverage. The lack of BBC archive footage of this and the suggestion of an inside job are mentioned.

Some people still question

Yeah, for sure, let's talk about marginalised and unconvincable morons who still refuse to believe the government and media propaganda- despite all the the efforts by Mike Rudin and the BBC...and how is that.

This sentence alone shed a light on the upcoming bias.

You miss the point

This is the first reasonable mention of Number 7 -- or any 911 issue for that matter -- I can recall on DM. The suggestion of inside complicity is there, though muted. And the critics are praised for their effort to find good evidence.

A new BBC article on 9/11 conspiracies

That would deserve a first-page blog of its own.

Quoting from the article:

"Some scientists, who are sceptical of the official account, have examined four dust samples from Ground Zero and claim to have found thermitic material which reacts violently when heated up. They claim tonnes of thermite and conventional explosives were rigged inside, not just WTC7, but also the Twin Towers. [...]

Furthermore, there is an alternative explanation for the "thermitic material" the sceptical scientists found in the dust - it is just a type of primer paint. It's calculated 1,200,000 tonnes of building materials were pulverised at the World Trade Center and most minerals are present in the dust (not necessarily in a large quantity). More extensive sampling of the dust has not found any evidence of thermite or explosives, says a report from the US Geological Survey and another from RJ Lee. "
