Taliban Leader Says For First Time: Bin Laden Behind 9/11

(KABUL, Afghanistan) -- For the first time, a senior member of the Taliban government that led Afghanistan until the U.S. invasion has admitted Osama bin Laden was behind 9/11.

In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al Masry Al Youm, the Taliban’s former ambassador to Pakistan says that after the September 11 attacks, Mullah Omar confronted bin Laden.

“The Commander of the Faithful Mullah Omar met with Bin Laden in the presence of a large number of Taliban leaders and Al-Qaeda members, and asked him if they were behind the attacks on the twin towers and the Pentagon,” Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, the former Taliban ambassador, says in the interview. “Osama denied the allegations, but I now believe that Bin Laden planned the attacks without informing the Commander of the Faithful and then lied to him by denying his involvement in the attacks after they took place.”

Zaeef’s admission could be his personal reflections, in which case its significance is small. If, however, the admission signifies some kind of public acceptance among senior Taliban leaders that their association with al Qaeda was negative, then his words might be a signal that the Taliban is disassociating itself from al Qaeda – and that would have large implications on reconciliation talks.

It’s not clear which is true.

Zaeef, who was recently taken off the U.N. blacklist, has become a public figure in Kabul; he gives interviews to Western journalists, including ABC News' Miguel Marquez and Nick Schifrin, and he has been courted by aides of Afghan President Hamid Karzai as a possible back channel for reconciliation talks. But it’s not clear that he has any direct channels to the current Taliban leadership.

The Same Taliban Supported By The U.S. Funded Pakistani ISI?

“The CIA has funneled hundreds of millions of dollars to Pakistan's intelligence service since the Sept. 11 attacks, accounting for as much as one-third of the foreign spy agency's annual budget.”

http://articles.latimes.com/2009/nov/15/world/fg-cia-pakistan15

“A stream of U.S. military intelligence reports accuse Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy agency of arming, training and financing the Taliban insurgency since 2004, the war logs reveal.”

Could they be more obvious?

Two high profile media people (Rivera and Napolitano) come out as questioning the official story and then, on cue, the Taliban says that bin Laden was responsible. Bull excrement, indeed!!

"opinion"

...doesn't trump physics.

...

Well we all know that Osama had the connections

to order NORAD to stand down, organize terror drills with airplanes that day, get the VP to allow a plane to enter restricted airspace, placing explosives in the twin towers was cake, obtain the secret service code words, and get an Israeli camera crew to photograph the events at ground zero! Oh yeah steal the gold and dismantle the crime scene, and make sure the MSM didn't investigate any other people right.

Well, so much for the Bin-Laden "confession video"

Zaeef has just reiterated that Bin-Laden denied his involvement in 9/11.

If the best that he can do is to assert—with what evidence?—that Bin-Laden lied to Mullah Omar & Co., then what does that do to the so-called confession video that was miraculously found by the U.S. Military? In that video, Bin-Laden appears to be acknowledging his culpability. Hard to believe he would do that if we were trying to keep it a secret from his Taliban hosts!

Come On

Boy are they getting desperate but I guess there are still some people that believe this crap.

Everyone has their price...

Al Masry Al Youm says

"I now believe that Bin Laden planned the attacks without informing the Commander of the Faithful and then lied to him by denying his involvement in the attacks after they took place.”

He claims this is his new opinion hence the word "now"
What possible motive might he have for aligning with the west now on this?
Hey, aren't the remnants of the taliban the ones were paying tonnes of money to for them to not shoot our guys ?

Al Masry Al Youm's epiphany aligning him with the OCT of the foreign invaders who are bribing his kind is rather convenient.
They say history is written by the victors.
