The enemy of America seems to pop up conveniently whenever the government is hyping national defense or the need to pass new carbon tax legislation. It's an interesting coincidence that these two agendas should coincide in the form of Osama Bin Laden's latest warning, which as usual has not been confirmed to be really him.

Al-Qaida leader proclaims that climate change is worse than war

CAIRO — Al-Qaida has released a new audio tape of Osama bin Laden in which the leader of the terror network calls for the creation of a relief body to aid Muslims harmed in natural disasters and wars.
In a copy of the message provided by the U.S.-based SITE Intelligence Group, bin Laden also criticizes governments in Muslim countries for spending more money on armies than on their citizens.

The message was approximately 11 minutes long and was included in a video showing still images of bin Laden and images of natural disasters, the SITE institute said.

"The number of victims caused by climate change is very big ... bigger than the victims of wars," the voice on the audio tape said according to the AFP news agency.

The tape comes after similar messages from al-Qaida figures that accused the Pakistani government of failing to provide for its people after massive floods in the country killed hundreds and left some 8 million people homeless.

The authenticity of the tape could not be immediately verified.

Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.

"The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said.

Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.

Few would have believed that bin Laden, the target of everything the world’s superpower could throw at him, would outlast Mr Bush. Some blame Pakistan’s complicity with militant groups and the sanctuary given to al-Qaeda by lawless Pashtun tribes.

However, it is important errors of judgment rather than elaborate conspiracies that are the real cause of bin Laden’s liberty.

Some US officials have tried to play down bin Laden’s significance, suggesting that al-Qaeda is beaten and on the run. So this latest tape is a reminder that, for all its superpower status, the US has been outwitted and outmanoevred at every turn.

In the murky depths of Pakistan’s tribal agencies, the hunt goes on.
