Barack Obama: "It was offensive. It was hateful"

US President Barack Obama has described as "hateful" and "offensive" the claim by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that most people believe the US government was behind the 9/11 attacks.

Mr Obama was speaking exclusively to BBC Persian television, which broadcasts to Iran and Afghanistan.

Mr Ahmadinejad's speech at the UN General Assembly on Thursday triggered a walkout.

He later defended his remarks and called for an inquiry into the attacks.

"I did not pass judgment, but don't you feel that the time has come to have a fact-finding committee?" Mr Ahmadinejad told reporters on Friday.

"The fact-finding mission can shed light on who the perpetrators were, who is al-Qaeda... where does it exist? Who was it backed by and supported? All these should come to light."

'Shared humanity'

In his speech at the UN, the Iranian leader suggested the US government could have "orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime". Mr Ahmadinejad usually refers to Israel as the "Zionist regime".

Mr Obama said it was inexcusable to make such remarks in New York itself, where most of the victims of 9/11 died.

But despite his condemnation, the US president reaffirmed America's commitment to reach out to the people of Iran, who he said had a very different response to 9/11.

"There were candlelight vigils and I think a natural sense of shared humanity and sympathy was expressed within Iran," Mr Obama told the BBC. "It just shows once again the difference between how the Iranian leadership and this regime operates and how I think the vast majority of the Iranian people, who are respectful and thoughtful, think about these issues."

This was in stark contrast to Mr Ahmadinejad's comments at the UN, the US president said.

This interview was really aimed at the Iranian people.

When Barack Obama talks about his criticism of what the Iranian leadership is doing, he is constantly comparing it to the Iranian people, saying: "You've done nothing wrong."

But the focus is all the time on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: he is the problem. There is not so much mention of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or the rest of the Iranian government.

The message Mr Obama is giving to the Iranian people is that you have a president who is a problem, and until he starts behaving - or possibly, by implication, until you get rid of him and have another leader - there is not going to be a resolution to this problem.

Mr Obama is trying reach beyond the government and say directly to the Iranian people that the West is suspicious of Iran and its nuclear programme, and this is the reason for sanctions.
"It was offensive. It was hateful. And particularly for him to make the statement here in Manhattan, just a little north of Ground Zero, where families lost their loved ones. People of all faiths, all ethnicities who see this as the seminal tragedy of this generation. For him to make a statement like that was inexcusable," Mr Obama said.

Nearly 3,000 people died on 11 September 2001 when hijacked planes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York, the Pentagon near Washington and a field in Pennsylvania.

In the interview, Mr Obama also said Afghanistan would not be abandoned, even if the US began cutting its forces there next summer after an extra 30,000 soldiers were deployed earlier this year.

"Now we're seeing Afghan Security Forces trained. We're seeing Afghan police trained. We've got a very effective civilian effort there in order to help build infrastructure and improve the day-to-day lives within Afghanistan," Mr Obama said.

"Starting in July 2011, we'll begin to draw down those additional troops, but we're not going to suddenly leave, turn off the lights, and go home on that date."

Relations between Iran and the US have been strained over Tehran's controversial nuclear activities.

The US fears Iran's uranium enrichment programme is a cover to build atomic weapons, a charge Iranian officials deny.

Mr Obama defended the international sanctions regime against Iran, including new measures adopted by the UN earlier this year.

"This is not a matter of us choosing to impose punishment on the Iranians," he told the BBC. "This is a matter of the Iranian government ultimately betraying the interests of its own people by isolating it further."

And he pointed out that countries such as Russia and China had also backed the UN sanctions.

"Most of these sanctions are targeted at the regime, at its military, and we think that over time, hopefully, there's enough reflection within the Iranian government, that they say to themselves, you know, 'This is not the best course for our people. This is not the best course for Iran.'"

Meanwhile, an Iranian official may meet a representative of the major powers next month to discuss the nuclear standoff, Mr Ahmadinejad said on Friday at the UN.

Iran was always ready for a dialogue based on respect and justice, the Iranian president added.

British diplomatic sources gave a cautious welcome to the prospect of negotiations, but said the Iranians "seem to be talking about talks about talks".

Will be a plus in the end.

In the end, this will continue to stir curiosity, only helping us. Because anyone with half a brain that dares look at ht film DOCUMENTATION, can see the anomalies, and blatent lying of the gov.

You know, as attempts to marginalize us continue from the usual sources, it is not time to lay the stigma back on them, and rightfully so. We need to make darn sure that those that believe the official story of 9-11-01 are regarded as the fools that they are. We have been diplomatic. We will remain peaceful, but we need to state without hesitation, that anyone that believes the official story of that day is OBLIVIOUS! Maybe they will bother looking if their egos are threatened. Obviously, their egos, are what they most concerned with preserving. Carrying the stigma of knowing and believing as we do, is avoided. Time to state clearly: ANYONE WHO BUYS THE OFFICIAL STORY IS AN OBLIVIOUS FOOL.

Of course, use your creativity to say it in what ever way suits your style. I've actually found ways of saying it without outright calling the asses, asses. But, they should have realized they were subtly being called a fool.

I go around to several different blogs and engage in conversation, (non 911 sites). I would hope we all do. Yeah, they call us names, but so what.

Ridiculing people that have retreated into protective denial

is no way to draw them out and help them break through their denial. Better to reassure them that there are many people working on this and ask them if there is anything about the events of 9/11/01 that they have questions about. Then just gently give them the relevant facts as fast as they can take them and no faster, don't push them or they may retreat further into their cocoon of denial.

Of course, this does not apply to obnoxious OCT huggers who hurl invective. In that case I choose to use a snappy but friendly retort that exposes some obvious ignorance of theirs or a pointed question, like "Do you understand Newton's Third Law?"

Keep in mind that after nine years there are those that have worked very hard NOT to know, many because they feel there is something there that they can't handle (my very intelligent sister is like this). Trying to force them through this denial is only going to frighten most of them and drive them deeper into their self-protective bunker of denial ( I have one brother very much like this, everyone else in my family knows that 9/11 was a false flag operation).

The number of people who understand that 9/11 was a false flag operation increases every day, we need to be very careful how we present ourselves and treat people as we reach the tipping point as we really want everyone to understand that this is a peaceful revolution based on truth, justice and what we were brought up to believe was the American way (the transparent rule of law).

End of sermon. :)

I hope that you and yours are well.

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

Thanks Left Wright

Thank you, LW, I will heed your intelligent advice.

So often at wit's end, in attempting to convey the facts, while denial stays locked into place, can make us feel exasperated. I do tire of having to be the odd one out, as if something is wrong with me, I live among many Conservatives. Truly we should not have to carry the stigma. We are the ones that are in touch with reality.

I do feel though that we deserve to look at those in denial, as if to say, "What is wrong with you?" instead of the other way around. We should never, however, show any signs of weakening when the Pop-Mech/NIST version is held up as having any credibility. We will be unmoved, and shall not be embarrassed at all to be the ones with our minds and objectivity intact.

"Don't you feel that the time has come to have a

fact-finding committee? Who is Al Qaeda? Where does it exist?

Who is it backed by? "

The man should be a rock star to our movement. We who make a religion of ignoring the MSM should be the last to buy into their demonization.

Unless we might hold dual citizenship in our wallets or our hearts.

There ARE many questions about what Hitler did and why. To state that any discussion thereof is verbotten is ridiculous and childish.

We are adults. NOTHING should be off the table for discussion.

That is what THEY do. Not truth seekers.

Clearly Mossad had some nefarious role or those five punks would not have been there, filming, dancing, with explosive residue in their "Urban Moving Systems" van.

Creating the state of Israel in Palestine was a huge mistake.

1948 was not so long ago. It is an error that can be corrected. It must be corrected if our planet is to heal and thrive. Honest people of the Jewish faith agree. The ghost of Rachel Corrie demands justice. Justice she shall have.

WHOA , HOLD ON A SEC

"A ROCK STAR TO OUR MOVEMENT"???

THIS GUY IS A HUGE PROBLEM WHO IS PROVOKING WAR RIGHT NOW! Getting US into MORE WAR!

"Unless we hold a dual citizenship? "
Sorry but you don't have to be a "dual citizen" to get critical of Ahmadinejad's extremism and flamboyant, FALSE statements about 9/11.

"Clearly Mossad had some nefarious role"
Obviously this is need so clear! The incident you are referencing (quite vaguely I'm afraid) was reported in a very limited scope and is a very small aspect of 9/11 which is also hard to explain and keep in perspective for MOST PEOPLE! These kinds of statements are a feeding ground for the disinformation campaign because in THIS DAY AND AGE, we have to be more specific or we sound racist whether we ARE or NOT !

"Creating the state of Israel in Palestine was a huge mistake"
Oh see now it all becomes clear. You've got it all figured out. Simple issue to solve, just like that ay?

Honest people of the jewish faith unfortunately disagree with a lot of what you are saying. We have to be careful how we present these new ideas. If we get suckered into sounding like extremists (even though we are not) we will hurt our cause.

I'll Tell You What's Inexcusable Obama!

What's Inexcusable is the way Philip Zelekow ramshodded the 9/11 Commission not allowing the commissioners subpoena power and ommitting key witnesses like the 118 first responders that heard explosions.

What's inexcusable is NIST not looking for explosives in their investigation.

What's inexcusable is the way the MSM has treated the 9/11 Truth Movement and ignored important evidence that conclusively points to some kind of high tech explosives destroying the twin towers and Building 7

What's inexcusable is the 9/11 Commission Report completely leaving out the destruction of Building 7

What's inexusable is the way the government treated those family members that lost loved ones and who couldn't get 75% of their questions answered from those investigating 9/11.

What's most inexcusable is that the non-investigation of 9/11 still caused two wars to happen killing thousands of our military and over a million innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What kind of excuse do you have now Obama and don't feed me that BS about 19 muslims with boxcutters and a leader living in a cave.

Ahmadinejad is doing.....

....the 9/11 movement a big favour

He's well informed and rational too.....

check this...

I see more and more..

...of the comments to these stories are for the truth movement, and I see less and less of the tin foil hat comments...

I sure hope those that have supported the official narrative out of fear are starting to rub thier chins and wonder.

This story is making headlines around the world. Using the 300o deaths as an excuse doesn't cut it anymore when many more thousands have died in the unjustified and illegal backlash...

The silence from the usual defenders has me thinking we are winning this battle and we may see results sooner than we anticipated.

Politicians the world around will be pondering the subject, those papers delivered to politicians and the phone calls etc from various facets of the truth movement will be paying off right now.

Well done everybody.

There are too many to thank.

I got a feeling...

... there maybe more prominent figures coming forward now... given that Ahmadinejad has 'broken the ice'....

He's rational?

Ahmadinejad never mentioned the peer-reviewed article when he had the world stage at the UN and what he did say about 9/11 was too general and easy to attack. Also, try to remember his record on women's rights is still abysmal. He would like to get rid of the Zionist nation and can't even say Israel and while that may not mean anything to those who read this blog, it does mean something to the majority of informed people elsewhere. Try reading "Reading Lolita in Tehran" to understand Iran better. His regime is plenty awful and any proposed conference on 9/11 in Iran would just be laughed at.

The President of Iran like George W. Bush is corrupt by being a spokesperson for a country with fraudulent election results. However, he represents a country not invading other nations like the USA. And at this point, anyone speaking up for truth regarding 9/11 is appreciated. It is just a strange world.

In recent FN issue, note, too, other important resource links. This is the time to take actions to help awaken others. Please let more know about FN resources and perspective. We are one of the few news ezines that came before 9/11/01 and revealed plans for a world takeover with an elitist-military agenda.
