Israel, the War on Terror and the "Holocaust Effect"
The “The War on Terror” is driven by a seductive mix of violence and propaganda tied to existential threats.
August 12, 2010

Last week, WikiLeaks released 200,000 pages of US War machine secrets. Like the Pentagon Papers, it may eventually lead to a paradigm shift about an unwinnable war. The Af/Pak Papers go even farther: they expose a “big lie” about the War on Terror. In these documents, what was once murmured is now screamed from the roof-tops: our long-time ally, Pakistan, has been funding and training the Taliban.

With friends like these, who needs “enemies”?

It’s been a long, hot summer for the US War machine. US assassin cabal Task Force 373 was exposed by WikiLeaks with "prima-facie evidence" of war crimes for killing seven children in Afghanistan. Back in May, the US Machine’s top Middle East ally, Israel, rappelled from their helicopters onto a flotilla of human rights activists. Nine aide workers, including one American, were killed in the violent melee. Yet Israel was not censured by the USA, and Congress just approved $33 billion more for Afghanistan.

To fully understand that seductive mix of violence and propaganda called “The War on Terror” you need political and historical chops. But you also need a special kind of insight, into something I’m calling “The Holocaust Effect.”

I want to robustly confront the Nazi genocide against the Jews, but from a new angle. The state violence the Jews suffered has boomeranged back. The only thing worse than suffering violence is when the victim population chooses to ape that violence. Sure, there are no gas chambers in Gaza, but Israel and her supporters have nonetheless crossed a line of late.

This came out last week during the failed campaign of Zionists and right-wingers to stop plans for an Islamic Community Center near Ground Zero. Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League said, "[9/11 Victims Families’] anguish entitles them to positions that others would categorize as irrational or bigoted."

An organization dedicated to fighting the return of fascism is now endorsing a victim’s “entitlement” to bigotry? Sounds just like Israel’s policy in Gaza.

In the name of victim-hood, violence metastasizes. Israel is the birthplace of two major world religions. Both preach the God of peace, mercy and understanding. But Israel’s huge heart has turned to stone. Without a commitment to gutsy, God-based, peace and nonviolence, Mainstream Zionism has become an ugly practice of hate and murder. Politics alone can’t address the problem, you have to know the Torah, the Bible. You must know God to be able to fully face up to this Zionism of the modern day.

Israeli violence depends on US violence for its life. Just a couple years ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu frankly admitted "We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq," because those events "swung American public opinion in our favor." Here in New York, the “War on Terror” is based on our use of the Holocaust Effect. Look at the past nine years of daily life in NYC. There are similarities between those who increase police and military power here, and the Israeli policies in the occupied territories. The power structure in NYC claims that we were the victims of terror. As a result, that same power structure trashes the Bill of Rights, and puts soldiers on our streets. My bag can be searched at random in the subway. Pre-recorded announcements during that train ride refer constantly to terror, threats, and “suspicious packages.” Yet the power structure has never felt compelled to produce an objective investigation of the 9/11 attacks. Contradictions remain unsolved. The question of justice in this country is frozen in the trauma of terror.

After the brutal killings on the Mavi Marmara, Israel was widely denounced by everyone from Amnesty International to Foreign Policy Magazine to the Daily News. But when the US war machine is your ally, you don’t have to say sorry. President’s Obama’s first response was to express sorrow, and caution everyone to “wait for details to emerge.” Then he called Israel and offered help with their public relations disaster.

The UN called for an objective investigation into the Flotilla killings. Israel refused, and appointed its own military and civilian inquiries (it later acquiesced to an international probe). Of course, Israel’s own military inquiry found no wrong-doing. The civilian inquiry is focusing on "actions taken by those who organized – and participated in – the flotilla, and their identities” while remaining incurious about how nine of them were shot.

I showed up at the Gaza Flotilla Survivors event at House of the Lord Church in Brooklyn, on June 17. Flotilla survivors like Kevin Ovendon prepared to give rousing speeches. Before the event got underway, I had a moment to wander across Atlantic Avenue to hear from the 20 counter-protestors waving Israeli flags. Sometimes you learn a lot about an issue from the opposition.

I approached a tall, well-dressed man in a yarmulke, who introduced himself as Dov Hikind (without mentioning he was the New York State Assemblyman who had organized the counter-demonstration).

Hikind told me, “What happened was a tragedy, without question. But the real story is the status of the ‘IHH’” -- the group who organized the flotilla.”

Hikind claimed that the IHH was a “terrorist” organization, and cited local NY politicians like Jerry Nadler who had recently made the claim. Israel has pushed this talking-point, and blocked one of the survivors from being able to speak in the USA, when a petition drive, combined with the efforts of local politicians, pressured the State Department to withhold a visa.

That visa was denied based on allegations that IHH has “ties to Hamas and Al Qaeda.” However, the sources for the assertion are sketchy, if not completely manufactured. The lead source is a paper on IHH from the Danish Institute for International Studies.. But that report was penned by a young, mysterious American named Evan F. Kohlman, a “terrorism expert” inseparable from US Government counter-terrorism. Previous profiles on Kohlman report his “counterterrorism center” is located in his bedroom in New York. .Kohlman is a part of the “Nine Eleven Finding Answers Foundation” a group that works with 9/11 victims’ families. But rather than producing “answers” about 9/11, Kohlman works as an “expert witness” in military tribunals of terror suspects. What kind of objectivity can you have as a “private consultant in terrorism matters for the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)…and Scotland Yard's SO-15 Counter Terrorism Command”? Kohlman took $45,000 from the Pentagon to make an emotional movie, based in part on Pentagon images, to show at a terrorism trial.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind complained that in Gaza, Hamas does not recognize the State of Israel. But even Hikind surprised me when he admitted that there is some truth to the theory that “Hamas is a Creation of Mossad.” He brusquely quipped, “Go on the internet” if I wanted to learn more. Ok, Dov, let’s go:

Since Hamas’ founding in 1987, Israel’s strategy has been to use the religious Islamists at Hamas as a foil, rather than negotiate with the secular, leftwing Fatah movement. Are you finding peace talks with your Muslim neighbors difficult? It’s convenient, then, to keep on hand your own brand of radical Islamists to do something violent at key moments. Hamas itself is a wing of Muslim Brotherhood, a group with historical ties to the Far Right, and the CIA. Hamas is a “terrorist” group on the State Department list, but their parent group is somehow “the preeminent movement in the Muslim world…something we can work with” according to a former CIA official.

What’s a peace radical to do? What is the ethical Christian/Jewish/Muslim/spiritualist response? Without denying the Jewish Holocaust, is it too heretical to ask if the reason that Holocaust Denial is so popular in the Arab world is that the Holocaust of 65 years ago is now being used to justify brutal attacks on a similarly oppressed people?

Call it the Holocaust Effect. What we are seeing here is the power of victim-hood elevated into the power of legend. The US seeks to enshrine 9/11 into an impregnable cultural myth. The Israeli Right seeks total freedom from human ethics—a strategic advantage in war. (Thank God due process still exists: 550 officers have been investigated for war crimes in Gaza.) The Holocaust Effect is like a US law now, or a cultural norm, as America attempts to justify its expanding empire.

Dwight Eisenhower was one of the heroic US soldiers to first liberate the Jews from the death camps. Gifted with an almost prophetic foresight, he warned us that the Holocaust would someday be denied by political opportunists. What he didn’t see was the “Military-Industrial Complex” (which he also gave dire warning of) would become so powerful, it would wage a war on the truth, by engaging in deception to advance US interests abroad, while instilling terror at home.

In my conversations with Zionists, Dov Hikind included, I have often wondered why they never talk about God. They tell me Zionism is not a religious movement; it’s a nationalist movement. This is a tragic development for the Jewish people.

It shows that the modern-day Israelis are still making the same mistakes from millennia ago. Read the Bible, and you realize the ancient Jews were gifted with an insight into the true nature of the Supreme Being: change, mercy, peace. But today, instead of living the higher law of repentance, compassion, and understanding, the Israeli Likudniks worship a false god of revenge, power and military might. The attack on the Mavi Marmara was so brutal, it may soon “turn the tide” against Zionism, according to Kevin Ovendon, the flotilla survivor allowed to speak that night. The world owes Judaism a huge debt for advancing our consciousness. But the world owes Zionism nothing.

The host at House of the Lord Church, Rev. Dr. Herbert Daughtry told me that his event was “faithful to the Biblical mandate, to prioritize the needs of the least in society, the excluded, the exploited, a call that is in both the Old and New Testament.”

Jesus came with love for the hated in society: the zealots, the whores, the dispossessed. He preached peace. He walked the talk to the cross. Christians and Jews and Muslims everywhere need to hear this call: Jesus would stand with the people of Gaza, not the soldiers delivering death from above.

Hidden Intelligence Operation Behind the Wikileaks Release of "Secret" Documents?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

And it's nice to see excerpts of my blog articles plagiarized all over the internet without accreditation, including by Global Research.

ETA: I'm happy that people read my articles, but I'm not too happy that everybody's jumping to conclusions w.r.t Wikileaks and Julian Assange. IMO, it's way too early to pass judgment on WL. I'm trying to get data together on WL, but the amount of press they're getting makes it feel like cleaning the Augean stables.

ETA 2: I don't understand why Global Research doesn't link back to 911blogger. What's wrong with that?

Where Do We Stand?

I am often disturbed by the inability of the Truth movement to get on the same page.

According to Sander Hick's "The Big Wedding: 9/11, the Whistle Blowers, and the Cover-up", the "let it happen" scenario is his preferred hypothesis, in the face of the compelling physical evidence that shows a "Make it happen" hypothesis may be more plausible.

Recently I have noticed some suspicion aimed at Julian Assange and his motives in releasing the Afghan War Diary documents and Collateral Murder video. His comments about 9/11 while unfortunate may be seen as a way of protecting himself from those that wish to discredit him by labeling him a "Truther" (which I find a derogatory and insidious "neologism") or "conspiracy nut".

My own suspicions are more in accordance with the studies by David Ray Griffin and particularly his books The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9-11 and 9/11 Contradictions: An Open Letter to Congress and the Press.

Could someone with a dispassionate knowledge and authority concerning 9/11 Truth please explain to me where the Truth movement stands today and how much closer we are to exposing the truth concerning the events of 9/11?

"Could someone with a dispassionate knowledge and authority concerning 9/11 Truth please explain to me where the Truth movement stands today and how much closer we are to exposing the truth concerning the events of 9/11?"

Ha, this comment made me laugh at how sensible and refreshing it is, almost as though you plopped yourself on the couch in disgust while saying it. Although I'm not dispassionate or a leading "authority" concerning 9/11 truth, I'll do the best I can from the way I see it.

Ok, the truth movement is global, we all know this. We are networked, we all know this. The network though is fragile and somewhat disjointed from the fact that we approach the issue from different angles, almost like clicks (sp). Luckily, that's not completely the case. Our strength is that we all KNOW that the official conspiracy theory is an absolute fraud. Our weakness is that it SEEMS like some of us are stalling from taking real physical street action (sit-ins, strikes, massive banner drops on a consistent basis, etc). We are largely an internet movement which is our strength and our weakness.

We continue to research research research when all of that has already been done! WE ALREADY KNOW ENOUGH! We don't have to know exactly who all the individual planners were and what basement or attic rooms they drew up their blueprints in. Based on the factual evidence presented by David Griffin, Steven Jones, etc, we know what we need to know in order to DEMAND an international investigation. We have all the necessary players on our side including victim's family members. We have sick/dying first reponders who can attest to the fact that they are not receiving the support that they deserve. We have people from all walks of life (except police and military of course) who are active or at least supporting members of the movement. We have truth on our side in terms of what didn't happen on 9/11. We even have the sound argument that we are not conspiracy theorists, but conspiracy theory BUSTERS.

But still, week after week after week there's a new post on blogger and other places discussing more detailed facts about 9/11 which should be taking place in a fucking courtroom by now. It seems like subconsiously we are afraid of the implications of our movement. The implication is that the 9/11 truth movement is the most revolutionary movement on all the Earth with the capability to bring down the global empire based on one day's event alone. Why do we keep researching when all that's behind us? We have all the ammo we need but we are NOT applying it into actual physical non-violent direct action with few exceptions. 9/11 truth rallies and marches are infintessimal compared to what they should be BY NOW.

We are a powerful unstoppable movement, but it seems as though we are slowing ourselves down by all this continual research. What are we trying to accomplish here? Finding out the exact date that the planners said: "OK, it's a-go!"?

We should have shut down the CNN headquarters by now. But no, let's talk about what didn't strike the Pentagon. And let's talk about it some more tomorrow. And next week, into infinity. By the time we've attained the balls to become literal activists rather than mere researchers, the 9/11 planners, most of whom are already well into middle age, will already be dead.

Of course the quesiton will be asked of me: so what have YOU done yourself? Besides tons of information sharing on the internet, I've posted flyers on people's cars in parking lots with webpages printed on them, I've discussed it with friends and strangers, mostly to get blank responses in return, and without copious amounts of money that we're all coerced to possess in order to merely survive, I don't know what more I CAN do but I'm willing to consider suggestions!

There's one thing I keep hearing in the back of my mind regarding the 9/11 truth movement. And that is... "tick tock, tick tock"...

And also, our movement is being quietly infiltrated by our opponents as though they are our allies. Since the "no-planes at the WTC" theory or the "Judy Wood theory" were ineffective, they are now forced to use stealth which they are. They foresaw our movement before 9/11. What they DIDN'T foresee is how powerful we'd become. But we still have weaknesses (much of which is our EGO) and the enemy knows of them and are using them against us because they know that WE know that they know that WE know that we are onto them (lol).

This is what I've come to sense after the rise of our now-aging movement and I welcome constructive criticism.

One of our greatest strengths is that we are NOT dispassionate, but quite the contrary. We also have on our side the fact that 9/11 truth is their achilles heal and we all know it and they all know it. All is on the table now. What stands in the way of our progress is the cognitive dissonance of the sleep-walking masses and our opponents know that also.

Lastly, our infighting...although existant, is minimal...for which I'm most grateful. Genuine members of the 9/11 truth community are among the brightest humans on the planet...that too, the 9/11 planners have learned.

The final card of the 9/11 planners, besides nuclear attacks, is to come out publicly and "announce a newfound revelation" that the 9/11 truth movement's secret leader is Osama Bin Laden himself. Be mentally prepared for that.

Nice work here truth and justice

If I may add a couple of points:
1-unfortunately while we do have enough of the facts established that the official story is a lie, a BIG LIE, our numbers are not that big. I look around everyday and see my fellow americans in coffee shops, supermarkets and gas stations and they are asleep. Somewhat blissfully. Even those who are talking about Govt corruption and lying politicians and losses from the crooks on wall street are still in the dark aren't they.
2- perhaps there is an unconscious awareness among many of us that things could get worse, much worse. I think this translates into our lack of activity and our reluctance in demonstrating our outrage on a daily basis. Why are we not lining up outside our congress conman's office demanding the truth? Will the powers that orchestrated this massive crime run from the confrontation and seek refuge from justice? Perhaps we doubt it deep within us, the way many of us first doubted 911 truth. Are we afraid of these killers? Are we afraid for our lives, the live of our families? Do we subconsciously weigh our options or chances of success and somehow tame and contain our outrage?

My $.02...."SOMNAMBULISTAS"

"What stands in the way of our progress is the cognitive dissonance of the sleep-walking masses."

The SOMNAMBULISTAS imbibe a steady diet of crap reinforcing the 911 Myth via TV, radio, web. People everywhere have a million woes and then distractions weighing in on them. The programming of them has been successful. They are trivial dullards for the most part. They wait to see the prevailing, acceptable thought before committing. They know SOMETHING is wrong with government but cannot accept that it is
EVERYTHING.

We are still growing, but as always the percent who actually suit up is dismal.

I wish I had a solution.

You bring up excellent points

You bring up excellent points peaceful warrior.

But don't underestimate our numbers just because we are scattered about. If our numbers were so few, they wouldn't have us on their minds every single day and night.

If you want to know the real mentality of these people, think of Hannibal Lecter and Fred Krueger from the original Elm Street movie. That is no exaggeration. They are the antagonists of this film and we are the protagonists...and the movie is now in the second half.

thoughtful comments

T&J, I will share my own perspective, as someone who was active around 2004-05-06, then left the country for a couple years in fear and loathing, and has recently returned. I am writing a book about 911. That is my "activism" for the moment. In my personal life, the debate on 911 nearly ruined my relationship with one brother, and I didn't get anywhere with my father. I didn't even take it up with my other brother, other than to ask him briefly about the WTC collapses and he said he had no problem with the official story. I'd rather just put all my thoughts on the matter into a book and encourage folks to read the book, because I often wonder, Where to start? My oldest brother is not political at all, and not very educated either, so I just don't see the point in bringing it up. My father is so deep in denial about so many things -- especially the nature of US foreign policy, i.e., that it has nothing to do with spreading freedom and democracy -- that I feel it is not worth trying to engage him on 911. I have long suspected 9/11 truth will go the way of JFK conspiracy theories -- it will be debated endlessly on the margins of society, the corporate media will ignore or ridicule us forever, and that will be the end of it. The perpetrators have gotten bigger and bigger heads as they have gotten away with bigger and bigger crimes. Certainly taking down JFK must have made them think they could do nearly anything. Now, with 911, they are even more arrogant.

It seems that our movement is largely web-based, and what folks like We Are Change are doing, and Gage, Jones, and Griffin going around giving talks. The basic problem is we are shut out of mass audiences, and substantial percentages of those we do reach are remaining in denial. The web I have noticed is now full of 911 debunking sites, so the cointelpro program is in full swing.

I talked to a friend recently, the only person I know who has been a 9/11 skeptic from the beginning, and we've both researched it in great depth, and he thinks the movement peaked in 2006 or so, with the publication of Jones' essay. I don't know if that's true. I never really expected us to achieve a sudden breakthrough victory in the form of a full investigation, because that would bring the whole system crashing down, and there are too many powerful people standing in the way.

My own sense is that the movement will generally bring more and more people to distrusting the govt., and over time, combined with other events, this will cause people to withdraw their consent from this pathetic relic of a democracy. 911 will be one more decisive blow to the legitimacy of the US govt., as it becomes clearer and clearer every day that the power center in govt. is nothing more than a Mafia structure, representing corporate interests. The more 911 truth gets out there, the harder it will be for the perps in the Secret Govt. to manipulate us through more false flags. So, in a sense, given how few people really have confidence in the 9/11 Commission report, we have already "won."

Personally, I think any genuine investigation of 911 will have to take place OUTSIDE the US. The US itself is just too corporate controlled, too steeped in denial. 9/11 truth is global, the information is all over the world -- for those who truly WANT to know. It would be good if the more democratic sectors of the world could pressure their governments to hold the US accountable for this, and to isolate this rogue nation, but there is no sign of any such development now.

I guess I take exception to your downgrading of the value of research. 911 truth has from the start involved a lot of information, and to lay out the case for someone off the street takes at least an hour or two and a Power Point presentation. Books and DVDs are still the most effective way to challenge the official myth, and while one can say we don't need MORE of them, more cannot hurt. I personally have hung signs over freeway overpasses, handed out flyers, gone on a local cable TV show for a live, call-in discussion (after showing Loose Change 2nd Ed.). Now, I'm writing a book. It might make some people take another look at the evidence. And it will spare me of the nagging sense that I should be bringing this topic and laying out the case to EVERYONE I encounter, ALL the time, which I do not want to do. But I can refer them to my book instead.

NIce points you raise Memory

NIce points you raise Memory Hole, and I wish you all the best with your book.

And believe me, I wasn't downgrading the value of research. If it wasn't for all the exhaustive research done over the last several years we wouldn't be where we are now. I was just pointing out that now, at this late hour, it's becoming somewhat repetitive. It's like asking a college graduate student to keep repeating his or her courses after the graduation ceremony! I just think we need to take the research and apply it to more activism which of course IS being done, but not nearly enough that I can tell. We should be concentrating more on outreach. And as I said, the denial of most people, which runs deep, is our greatest obstacle, bound together through the mainstream and most of the "alternative" media. It's these media that we should be focusing our collective intention on now. Research ad infinitum can be interpreted as a 9/11 truth "hobby" which is basically what happened with the JFK assasination.

Also we should be re-labeling ourselves as something along the lines of the "anti false-flag" movement" or the "anti black-ops" movement which I think is really what we are. I happen to find the label "twoofer" as condescending. It's best to call ourselves something that can't be manipulated or "humorized". Or even something of a "pro-accountability" movement of an all-encompassing sort.

Education

Those responsible for the 9-11-01 atrocities clearly have immense resources available. Coordinating such shock-and-awe required (and requires) control over the US military, Congress, courts, the press, and the airline and also the insurance companies involved.

Those seeking to uncover and expose this have pitifully little to work with by comparison. Yet considerable success has occurred.

Incremental success is probably the best kind under these circumstances. Widespread success, all of it incremental, would be the least vulnerable to the vast means of power and fantastic brutality that has already been demonstrated

I think our best route is through continuing education. Gage does incredibly well in that sphere. Let others also join in. The more the better, and the less localized the better. The less 'coordinated' the better, or so it seems to me. We have no leadership. That seems necessary to me.

Tying that into the topic at hand,.Sander Hicks finds ways to say things that get through the Alternet 9-11 self-censorship filter. That is huge in my opinion.

2nd reply

Just posted a reply and is vanished into the ether after I hit "Save." Anyway, I agree with your points T&J, except I don't particularly like "anti-false flag movement" or "anti black ops" because neither refers to 9/11 and we ARE about questioning 9/11. Of course we are also anti false flag but for someone who doesn't know about 9/11, we need a label that refers to that. I've never liked "9/11 truther" or 9/11 Truth movement as terms. I prefer Henshall's "9/11 skeptic" because we are skeptics demanding a real investigation, not religious fanatics in possession of "The Truth." So I encourage everyone to refer to us as 9/11 skeptics and the 9/11 skeptic or 9/11 skepticism movement.

I've noticed in some quarters we are now referred to as "9/11 deniers" -- the attempt apparently being to liken us to "holocaust deniers." The COINTELPRO disinfo agents are all over this, working overtime to frame us in the most easily dismissable manner possible.

A minor coup seems a fair assessment

just the line "
Yet the power structure has never felt compelled to produce an objective investigation of the 9/11 attacks. Contradictions remain unsolved. The question of justice in this country is frozen in the trauma of terrorine"

Seems to earn us a bit of respect.
