Truth Action Ottawa 2009 Year In Review & Special Thanks to “Will”

Happy holidays from Truth Action Ottawa! It has been an incredible year for us and we thought we'd take this opportunity to thank everyone who has put so much effort into making Truth Action Ottawa a huge success in 2009. Your dedication and energy has helped make TAO more successful than we could have possibly hoped for.

First and foremost, we've been out on the eleventh of every month this year participating in the International Campaign for 9/11 Truth and Justice at Truthaction.Org. This is a campaign that we've participated in here in Ottawa since April of 2007. We even did additional actions this year when the opportunity arose. Our Willie Nelson truth action was especially memorable, not in the least because it was featured by Willie Nelson's Peace Research Institute. We had two guest speakers in town and did several telephone interviews. We even got mentioned in the Ottawa Sun!

We've handed out over 5000 discs this year directly to the public and the response has been getting more and more favourable each month.

Truth actions are not generally high-profile ways to get the information out about 9/11. While on a truth action, you're unlikely to do anything sensational or newsworthy that would make for a great photo-op or YouTube clip. Nevertheless, we at TAO feel that truth actions are the most important aspect of our activities. We converse with people directly, respectfully, one at a time, and share our information with those ready and willing to receive it. We feel this has been by far our most effective tactic, and we've distributed thousands of DVDs this year to prove it.

In April we were honoured to meet and start supporting someone very special. Rev. Kevin Annett came to town in April, sponsored by TAO, to screen his film Unrepentant at the Mayfair Theatre. At the same time, we held the Ottawa theatrical premiere of Alex Jones' film Endgame: Blueprint For Global Enslavement, something which proved to be controversial but highly effective. While he was in town, Annett granted TAO an amazing interview which you can find in our resources section here.

Also in April, Mark from TAO was interviewed by We Are Change Live, which was a great opportunity to get the word out about our activities. We'd like to thank Nathan Moulton of Calgary 9/11 Truth and the documentary Activist for the interview.

In May, working with six other activist groups across Canada, we were able to host a live speaking engagement with the very lovely Annie Machon, author of Spies, Lies and Whistleblowers. Her talk was great, and we'll be posting the video of it as soon as our video technician has finished the editing. It was a rainy night, but a decent crowd braved the weather and made the event a great success. Many thanks to the Vancouver 9/11 Truth Society and everyone else who worked on this, the first cross-Canada speaking tour not organized by a book store.

Later that month, we were fortunate enough to meet Mr. David Long, a long-time resident of Ottawa. His explosive testimony of what he witnessed on 9/11 at ground zero can be viewed here. Mr. Long has been at many of our subsequent truth actions, and we're very happy to count him among our friends.

In June, media pundit Glenn Beck attacked the 9/11 truth movement as a whole, and our video response to him unexpectedly garnered quite a lot of interest on the web. We hope Mr. Beck saw it.

Also in June, we interviewed Cosmos, founder of truthaction.org's 11th Of Every Month Campaign. We were celebrating the 30th consecutive month of global truth actions, with thousands of DVDs distributed each month all over the world. You can hear the interview here.

Things didn't slow down for us as the year grew to a close. September 11, 2009 saw us host the Canadian theatrical premiere of Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup at the Mayfair Theatre, nearly two weeks before its official release date. This screening got us featured in the September 11, 2009 edition of the Ottawa Sun. It was a hit piece, but it was still coverage, and it resulted in better than expected ticket sales for the event. Afterwards, we managed to record the first review of Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup by a bone fide film critic, the video of which was widely viewed on the internet.

Afterwards we supported and co-sponsored a conference with Rev. Kevin Annett, Shiv Chopra and Denis Rancourt . The video for that one is on its way as well. Later, we interviewed Australian 9/11 truth activist John Bursill regarding his Australian 9/11 truth conference series. As the year drew to a close, we took on the CBC regarding their lack of coverage regarding Climategate.

Finally, we'd like to take a moment to thank someone who has been in the background getting out almost as many 9/11 DVDs on his own as the rest of us have during our truth actions. To preserve his anonymity, we'll refer to him as Will, since his willpower to get this information out there is exceptional.

We have had trouble keeping Will supplied with discs, because every time he goes to a store, gas station or donut shop, he hands out discs to cashiers, managers, other customers, passers-by, and basically anyone he encounters. Will has possibly forced a new policy on Tim Horton's donut shops, since out of the blue the cashiers started telling him they weren't allowed to take discs anymore. While all our activist friends are very appreciated, we thought that we'd send a special thank you to Will because of his every-day-is-a-truth-action attitude and his commitment to distributing this information widely and anonymously.

If you're aware that the events of 9/11 have been misrepresented and would like to get the information out, but you don't want to do so with a visible group like Truth Action Ottawa, we would humbly suggest that you could use Will as an example of how you can effect a massive amount of change anonymously. Simply come to one of our truth actions, get one of our discs to use as a master, start duplicating it and handing out the copies. You don't even have to tell us you're doing so. Even if you hand out only one disc a week, that's 52 new people who will know that there are serious questions about 9/11 by this time next year. You can even leave discs in locations where people will happen upon them without ever knowing who put the disc there.

2009 has been a fantastic year for sure, and it's just the beginning. 2010 can only get better. We've got big plans for entirely new events, interviews and other informational outreach activities, and we will keep up the energetic pace we've set for ourselves. If you have ideas you'd like to share with us, please join us on our forums, or send us a message. We'd love to hear from you!

Once again, thank you very much to all the activists, businesses and others who have helped us during the year. It is our hope that you'll come out and join us January 11th and every eleventh as we help keep the campaign alive. On behalf of Truth Action Ottawa, happy holidays, and may 2010 bring you peace, truth, and prosperity.

Way To Go TAO!

Thanks TAO, you guys, especially Mark have been a huge inspiration to me and our group here in Kitchener. My we get a new independent investigation so that we do not have to do this anymore, it's getting cold again! Thanks again for the sign, it is being well used here.

No, thank YOU!

It's been great to see Kitchener doing so well! Your dogged persistance month in and month out has been inspirational to us as well.
