Visibility 9-11 Welcomes Shari Bernson, Membership Director and Executive Producer, KBDI-TV Channel 12 Denver
This episode of Visibility 9-11 welcomes to the program Shari Bernson, Membership Director and Executive Producer at KBDI-TV, Channel 12 in Denver Colorado. KBDI has taken bold steps in recent months with an historic airing of 9-11 Press for Truth on June 3, 2009. This 3 hour fund raiser for the Denver PBS station included a screening of this excellent documentary along with in studio interviews with Producer Kyle Hence, Director Ray Nowosielski, 9-11 family member Bob McIlvaine, and members of Colorado 9-11 Visibility who were on hand answering phones.
Shari Bernson is a nationally recognized producer with over 20 years-combined experience in the television, entertainment and media. She has been a leader in her field and has raised over $17 million dollars for public television. Shari is also an on-air talent for KBDI and was one of the hostesses during the June 3rd, 2009 airing of 9-11 Press for Truth.
This interview provides a behind the scenes look at some of the decision making processes which went into selecting this documentary for airing, how it was received by the public, the role of the local 9-11 group, and the groundswell of support from the Colorado community and indeed from around the world. Shari also discusses how this event and film has changed her personally and the way she now views the mainstream media in America and the events of September 11th, 2001.
Most exciting of all during this interview was the announcement that KBDI will continue taking bold steps with regards to the events of September 11th with what shall prove to be yet another historic broadcast for 9-11 truth. Tentatively scheduled, KBDI will be doing another fund raiser on August 15, 2009, this time featuring the world television premier of Richard Gage's excellent documentary 9-11 Blueprint for Truth. Additionally, KBDI will be flying Richard to Colorado for on-air interviews during this historic broadcast. A press release is due to published soon.

I hope they schedule a showing of Loose Change: An American Coup coming out Sept. 22nd of this year. Seems like it will be a great one from the preview.

I will definitely bring up LC to KBDI and that they at least need to screen it. I would like to see it as well before I could recommend it but I do have high hopes that the new version will be solid on the information.

I was back visiting my family in Colorado this past month when my my sister and I turned the television to 9/11 PRESS FOR TRUTH being aired, around July 10, during prime-time on Colorado public television. My parents called us from the other side of the state, stunned and deeply heartened that 9/11 Truth was seeing more light than any of us had expected that it would on a major news outlet. (KBDI is viewed not only all over Colorado, but throughout much of Nebraska Wyoming, as well as parts of New Mexico and Utah too.) It was a profound, no-holds-barred evening of viewing, with powerful personal testimony and presentations from Kyle Hence, Bob McIlvaine and others. The hosts at KBDI could not have been more respectful, genial and professional. Among the items available to donors to the station were books by David Ray Griffin, and the recent peer-reviewed article about the discovery of Thermite/Thermate in the WTC dust was mentioned. A real coup in public relations for 9/11 TRUTH! Congratulations and profound thanks to all those involved! Bravo, Mr. Wolsey! Please, PLEASE let Colorado Public TV know how much the risks they are taking to bring out the truth are appreciated by us, and donate to them if you are at all able... It's clear from some of the messages the station received that they were taking some real flack for this. We need to speak up in support of KBDI and their strong commitment to real journalism! Fantastic news! And Richard Gage Blueprint for Truth is scheduled (tentatively) next? God bless all the good folks at KBDI and Visibility 9/11!

JFK and the Unspeakable

The murder of President Kennedy was a seminal event for me and for millions of Americans. It changed the course of history. It was a crushing blow to our country and to millions of people around the world. It put an abrupt end to a period of a misunderstood idealism, akin to the spirit of 1989 when the Soviet bloc to began to thaw and 2008, when our new American President was fairly elected.
Today, more than 45 years later, profound doubts persist about how President Kennedy was killed and why. My film JFK was a metaphor for all those doubts, suspicions and unanswered questions. Now an extraordinary new book offers the best account I have read of this tragedy and its significance. That book is James Douglass's JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters. It is a book that deserves the attention of all Americans; it is one of those rare books that, by helping us understand our history, has the power to change it.
The subtitle sums up Douglass's purpose: Why He Died and Why it Matters. In his beautifully written and exhaustively researched treatment, Douglass lays out the "motive" for Kennedy's assassination. Simply, he traces a process of steady conversion by Kennedy from his origins as a traditional Cold Warrior to his determination to pull the world back from the edge of destruction.
Many of these steps are well known, such as Kennedy's disillusionment with the CIA after the disastrous Bay of Pigs Invasion, and his refusal to follow the reckless recommendations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in resolving the Cuban Missile Crisis. (This in itself was truly JFK's shining moment in the sun. It is likely that any other president from LBJ on would have followed the path to a general nuclear war.) Then there was the Test Ban Treaty and JFK's remarkable American University Speech where he spoke with empathy and compassion about the Soviet people, recognizing our common humanity, the fact that we all "inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's futures. And we are all mortal."
But many of his steps remain unfamiliar: Kennedy's back-channel dialogue with Khrushchev and their shared pursuit of common ground; his secret opening to dialogue with Fidel Castro (ongoing the very week of his assassination); and his determination to pull out of Vietnam after his probable re-election in 1964.
All of these steps caused him to be regarded as a virtual traitor by elements of the military-intelligence community. These were the forces that planned and carried out his assassination. Kennedy himself said, in 1962, after he read Seven Days in May, which is about a military coup in the United States, that if he had another Bay of Pigs, the same thing could happen to him. Well, he did have another "Bay of Pigs"; he had several. And I think Kennedy prophesied his own death with those words.
Why does it matter? The death of JFK remains a critical turning point in our history. Those who caused his death were targeting not just a man but a vision -- a vision of peace. There is no calculating the consequences of his death for this country and for the world. Those consequences endure. To a large extent, the fate of our country and the future of the planet continue to be controlled by the shadowy forces of what Douglass calls "the Unspeakable." Only by unmasking these forces and confronting the truth about our history can we restore the promise of democracy and lay claim to Kennedy's vision of peace.
But don't take my word for it. Read this extraordinary book and reach your own conclusions.
