Citizenry Doubts Government's Honesty

I have just heard that a new poll establishes that the US citizenry doubts the veracity of our government by a ratio of three to one...75% of the populace believes the government lies.

Since the 9/11TM is all over the biggest lie that this, or perhaps any other government has ever manufactured in world history, it seems that now is the time to be very, very thoughtful before Truthers confront anything that moves, and stalks our streets yelling at these very same citizens that they should "Wake Up Sheeple". It appears, as my own weekly experiences on the streets has informed me, that they ARE AWAKE more than one would perceive, and that they CARE about which direction this government is headed. They just don't talk much about it in public...its the "your a terrorist" thing spouted by The Bush Regime. Again, the populace is all over this...no outrage...but PLENTY of inrage...its there.

So, once again, we have some choices as to how to take advantage of the public's skepticism. We can CONFRONT, YELL AT and generally OFF-PUT the "middle grounder"...[those who vote this government in or out], making it less likely that there will be personal growth on their part, or we can do what we do best, inform them, state that we are also concerned about the direction of our government, and creatively and respectfully offer information in polite social ways that allow each potential convert to enter our rabbitt hole on their own terms and in their own time.

THIS is the time that the WACers should think three steps ahead and respectfully "question" whomever they want to get these crooks to lie on camera WITHOUT any animis or antagonization conjuring up sympathy for these crooks.

THIS is the time that we should break out into smaller groups at ballgames, and concerts and shopping malls and at busy street corners, NOT in one main event, but in thousands of events within our own communities all across North America.

And for me personally, and I hope for you too...

THIS is the time to once again build bridges to the peace movements and the other movements that want positive change...and

THIS is the time to let everyone know who do want to stand beside us, that they are welcome, and that we are all about CI...Civil Informationing...in that we want be BE with our neighbors and not drive them away, and that we ARE our own media and educators, and that we ARE as patriotic as anyone that has ever walked these Native Lands.

Robin Hordon

I'm not a Robin Hordon fan.

I'm not a Robin Hordon fan. He has no idea who I am or what kind of Change I bring. I don't see him with throngs from all cities willing to do outreach as he proposes should happen. That's the kind of movement Cosmos creates, not this Robin guy. Cosmos is a friend of WAC for a reason. There are doers and then there are talkers. Hordon is a talker. He thinks that his judgmental pomposity is actually doing something forwarding. He's a drag. I've probably handed out more flyers and DVDs with a smile than he will in a lifetime.

Katy- We Are Change LA

Easy Katy. We know your passion and your commitment.

This is not a competition except in those ways that we can urge each other onwards in deeper and more creative ways. And I know you are just expressing your frustration with feeling slighted and maligned. But I don't think Mr. Hordon is either trying to disparage all the good work that WeAreChange chapters around the hemisphere do nor is he merely a talker. He may not be as visible and as vocal as you, but I'll bet he could compete with you in terms of flyers and DVD's handed out with a smile (though I admit your smile is probably too much for him to handle). I remember Mr. Hordon showing up in NYC in front of the CFR, breaking out his trusty banner with his smartly designed PVC piping frame and immediately hitting the divider to reach the folks driving by. While most of us were yelling at the third floor windows at who knows who and I was attempting to play "America" on my sax, Robin Hordon was reaching the people of NYC. And that was a powerful statement we were making and I'm glad we did, but meanwhile Robin focused on what he thought was most effective. I think the truth movement proves the old adage that It takes all kinds.

He has his focus on Civil Informationeering and is willing to argue for why he thinks it should be central. Zan Overall and I are "talkers" who stress the importance of talk radio and have reached millions of Bush believers with 9-11 facts by calling conservative talk radio shows.

Cosmos's activism around getting a visible presence that can create a community of activism has been powerful and crucial. Mr. Hordon is pointing to another angle of 9-11 truth and justice activism that is important- that it is highly effective to go out by yourself or w/ just a few folks to do outreach to people. And I think he's right that it can be less intimidating in terms of really getting people to take info and look more deeply into it. Of course, our 11th actions are great on all accounts, and a group such as WeAreChangeLA works most all the angles I would say. But I do think that Robin's reminder to civil informationeer on our own or with a partner is very good advice. That doesn't mean stop making what will be the most incredible freeway blogging signs, or stop planning for the West Coast convergence on May 11th in the Bay (I'll bet and hope Mr. Hordon will be there) or stop your road work at Topanga Canyon or truthsquadding.

His warning to the "We" in WeAreChange is really advice about what he sees as the best way to proceed at this point. He's not saying, don't do truthsquads, he's saying what he thinks might be the most effective way to proceed with them, like a potent combo of eternally cool-headed journalists/lawyers. And in fact, both Luke and Nick from Philly 9-11 truth took exactly this tactic with Larry Silverstein and I would say it was pretty darn effective. There may be disagreement but healthy disagreement with folks with strong opinions arguing for them is crucial to this movement.

Of course, at the same time, I would argue that it was the New Yahk in-your-face confrontational attitude with Bo Dietl on the way in that got them in the door for a longer, more civil conversation on the way out. So, I will continue to debate respectfully with Mr. Hordon about the place that I think must be reserved for tactics of disruption/confrontation at the proper (and this is the key word) moments. I continue to hold that Katy's "What about building 7" backing up Randy to Bill Maher was, in addition to being one of the best pieces of live television of all of 2007, a powerful piece of non-violent civil disobedience or as Randy said "just heckling a comedian" that got thousands, if not millions of people talking publicly about a taboo topic and ultimately helped get the demolition of WTC 7 shown 3 times on CNN in front of millions.

It's also very important to remember the contribution that Mr. Hordon has made by being one of the scholar/investigator/professional experts of the movement. Just ask David Ray Griffin how much help Robin has been to him over the years.

But, Mr. Hordon, Katy's middle finger is nothing to scoff at, so watch out.

Bless you both Katy and Robin!

Good response . . . but . . . but . . .

Good response. I think that the biggest problem I have with Hordon is that he scoffs at WAC without acknowledging the full range of even our truthsqads. What about us with Mitt or Luke with Vicente Fox? I do outreach all the time and rarely, if ever, do I pick up a bullhorn. Robin acts like bullhorning is all we do on the street and that "confrontation" is a bad word. The guy has a limited perception of what WAC is and acts like HE has the great answer when we've been doing peaceful informing of the public with a smile for years.

I understand that Robin is concerned about perception. Perception seems to be his problem. His perception of WAC is limited by his knee-jerk reaction to WAC’s more disruptive actions however peaceful.

All ways of being are important as long as we remain a non-violent movement. If Robin is too self-conscious to interrupt the sacred space of live television, or thinks that using a bullhorn is too angry sounding that he shouldn’t engage in such practices. What Robin fails to see is that the Maher act was a win win situation. They are begging for us to come back and shoot up their ratings again. And yes, millions of people more know about WTC7 as a result. Water coolers were a buzz for a week. That’s what’s important. And yes, I may have looked like an idiot to some, but I’m not in this movement to look good. I’m in this movement to save my country and our world. I could care less what people think of me personally. I’m not out on the street handing out info because I think I look cool doing it. If a skirt and heels gets my info to more people I’m not above showing a little leg either. I would wear a plastic bag if I thought it would help.

In short, Robin can just lay of WAC. He has no idea who we are.
