they are close cousins as far as the american media is concerned.
both are " bad to think" except in certain pre-prescribed and very specific ways

Where does this guy get off calling his publication "Skeptic Magazine"? He's not exercising skepticism at all - he's exercising blind belief in government. His mag should be re-named "Blind Believer Magazine."
I actually think he's on the Mossad payroll, but he might be just ignorant.

I would like to see him answer one simple question.
How can you call yourself a skeptic if there is even ONE unanswered question regarding 9/11?
No crime would ever be solved if investigators used his logic and techniques of dismissing suspicions and evidence as irrelevant, because they are only a small piece of a large puzzle.
That's how crimes are solved, by putting together ALL the pieces of the puzzle.

Shermer Is Cherry-Picking His Skepticism
It's people like Shermer who do a major disservice to science by cherrypicking the subjects that are, in his mind, "worthy of being skeptical about". In the case of controversial events like the assassination of JFK, or 9/11, for example, this "skepticism" is directed not on the basis of hard evidence and rigorous inquiry, but instead, on (a) what is convenient and easily digestible, (b) doesn't challenge our comfort zones, (c) what doesn't upset the powers-that-be, and (d) what is less likely to cause controversy or prompt the people to question corrupt motives of our leaders. Shermer is yet another shill for the status quo, a stunning example of "applied intellectual cowardice."
As an apparent (alleged) skeptic, Shermer should follow the advice given by the late great Dr. Carl Sagan, who reminded us all that "extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence", (or "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof"). In the case of 9/11, the US Government's claim that "19 flight-school flunk-outs under the direction of a guy in a cave 12,000 miles away managed to run rings around the multi-trillion dollar military/security/intelligence/law-enforcement network, the most extensive and powerful ever assembled on Earth, without any prior knowledge, and without any attempt to use our defenses", is a claim that falls into the "beyond the extraordinary" category. And as of yet, virtually zero hard evidence or proof (with verifiable chains of custody that would stand up in a US court of law), has been presented to the US public by government agencies or the Bush Administration to confirm their allegations. There is a huge and growing body of material, from circumstantial to hard evidence, however, that the agencies responsible for preventing such attacks (as well as senior politicians and military personnel) at the very least, knew about the attacks well in advance, and deliberately allowed them to happen.
Shermer appears to be another "fairweather skeptic".

Shermer is an obvious shill but he shouldn't be underestimated. It's amazing how many of these guys are on national tours. Glenn Beck comes to mind as another recent one.
Shermer is working a psy op. There are in fact citizens who want to be consoled. You shouldn't underestimate the persuasive powers of someone making statements with resolute conviction.

The inflection in his voice
The inflection in his voice alone gives him away. He doesn't even sound like he believes anything he's saying. This guy is as sleazy as the "Harley" guy who explained away the collapses of the twin towers about an hour after it happened on fox. I can't believe these people are able to digest food.

Cyberfossil: The gentleman who asked these questions is the type we need leading the charge in the Truth Movement. He is much more eloquent and knowledgeable than the so-called Skeptic or anyone else in the room. Why does the US Media dodge Siebel and other important witnesses or testimony such as Bhutto's comment to frost that Bin Laden had been killed? That's a question beyond my knowledge. But I do know based on an examination of evidence that the government version of 9/11 is almost completely false. Kudos to Temple and this intelligent leader for trying to get the truth out before more lives are lost in this wrongly led war on terrorism without end.

I don't think you would have any luck suing. His statements seem too vague. Better to take a different tack. Maybe better to suggest you respect him for his work in exposing holocaust denial for the lie that it is. Now if he would apply the same skepticism and logic to the issues of 9/11 he could do the same for the causes of Truth and Justice, which seem to be his apparent goals.
