US drafting plan to allow government access to any email or Web search

"National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell is drawing up plans for cyberspace spying that would make the current debate on warrantless wiretaps look like a "walk in the park," according to an interview published in the New Yorker's print edition today.

Debate on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act “will be a walk in the park compared to this,” McConnell said. “this is going to be a goat rope on the Hill. My prediction is that we’re going to screw around with this until something horrendous happens.”

The article, which profiles the 65-year-old former admiral appointed by President George W. Bush in January 2007 to oversee all of America's intelligence agencies, was not published on the New Yorker's Web site.

McConnell is developing a Cyber-Security Policy, still in the draft stage, which will closely police Internet activity.

"Ed Giorgio, who is working with McConnell on the plan, said that would mean giving the government the autority to examine the content of any e-mail, file transfer or Web search," author Lawrence Wright pens.

“Google has records that could help in a cyber-investigation, he said," Wright adds. "Giorgio warned me, 'We have a saying in this business: ‘Privacy and security are a zero-sum game.'"

A zero-sum game is one in which gains by one side come at the expense of the other. In other words -- McConnell's aide believes greater security can only come at privacy's expense.

McConnell has been an advocate for computer-network defense, which has previously not been the province of any intelligence agency.

According to a 2007 conversation in the Oval Office, McConnell told President Bush, “If the 9/11 perpetrators had focused on a single US bank through cyber-attack and it had been successful, it would have an order of magnitude greater impact on the US economy.”

Bush turned to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, asking him if it was true; Paulson said that it was. Bush then asked to McConnell to come up with a network security strategy.

"One proposal of McConnell’s Cyber-Security Policy, which is still in the draft stage, is to reduce the access points between government computers and the Internet from two thousand to fifty," Wright notes. "He claimed that cyber-theft account for as much as a hundred billion dollars in annual losses to the American economy. 'The real problem is the perpetrator who doesn’t care about stealing—he just wants to destroy.'"

The infrastructure to tap into Americans' email and web search history may already be in place.

In November, a former technician at AT&T alleged that the telecom forwarded virtually all of its Internet traffic into a "secret room" to facilitate government spying.

Whistleblower Mark Klein said that a copy of all Internet traffic passing over AT&T lines was copied into a locked room at the company's San Francisco office -- to which only employees with National Security Agency clearance had access -- via a cable splitting device.

"My job was to connect circuits into the splitter device which was hard-wired to the secret room," Klein. said "And effectively, the splitter copied the entire data stream of those Internet cables into the secret room -- and we're talking about phone conversations, email web browsing, everything that goes across the Internet."

"As a technician, I had the engineering wiring documents, which told me how the splitter was wired to the secret room," Klein continued. "And so I know that whatever went across those cables was copied and the entire data stream was copied."

According to Klein, that information included Internet activity about Americans.

"We're talking about domestic traffic as well as international traffic," Klein said. Previous Bush administration claims that only international communications were being intercepted aren't accurate, he added.

"I know the physical equipment, and I know that statement is not true," he added. "It involves millions of communications, a lot of it domestic communications that they're copying wholesale."

This Is For Our Own Good!

The government is just trying to protect us!

Pay no attention to the 3 million unidentified illegal aliens (potentially Al Qaeda terrorists?) and tons of contraband (WMD's?) that enters the U.S. each year through borders left open by the government, in order to expidite the creation of a North American Union.

There is no threat to be found there.

Move along at once and resume shopping.

Aidan :-)

I trust the *3* million figure is sarcasm ... l o l. Government says 12 million, however, we all know its closer to 20 million. Good post Aidan.

BTW, what's a goat rope? The never ending saga of that damn pet goat, wanta bet the goat is the new mascot for the NWO?

Fairly Certain 3 Million Figure Is Correct

I'm quite sure that TIME magazine cited that figure in an issue on the topic 2 years ago.

Here is what I can obtain so far:

"The United States Government Accountability Office estimates that “between 400,000 and 700,000 illegal immigrants have entered the United States each year since 1992.” A substantial portion did so by crossing the United States–Mexico border and to a lesser extent the United States-Canada border."

As for the goat rope, I'm still trying to understand that reference too.

Hope you're sitting down my

Hope you're sitting down my friend, the following is merely a small sampling of links that deal with the issues of illegal aliens. Living in AZ and CA for most of my life I have seen the invasion up close and personal. You probably have a quarter to half million to in Vegas area alone. I have more than a thousand articles and bookmarks on the issue and have read them all.

2 years ago, when I began researching the IA problem in depth I discovered the SPP and the slow creeping of the NAU. At that time 9/11 issues kept slapping me in the face during research, it was then I came on board realizing there had to be a plan taking place considering our middle east policies, and I started connecting the dots of the One World Government, then everything started to make sense ... the flood gates around the world were lifted with the borderless paradigm, and control of oil countries and all of the world's citizens. That's it in a nutshell.

Oh, btw, that 3 million figure is most probably the amnesty figure that was granted in 1986, when Reagan granted amnesty, I remember the 3 million figure from that time.

Open Borders Proves War On Terror A Hoax

The elites have 2 conflicting agendas:

- A war on terror.

- Creation of a North American Union.

Open borders aids the NAU, yet undermines credibility of war on terror.

And that's where the media comes into play - causing us to not notice by getting us to feel and react but not think and to also remain divided against ourselves at all times along petty divisions that are largely the products of the media itself:

- Male vs female
- Black vs white
- Red state vs blue state

We are sooo manipulated on a daily basis.

ABC Addresses TIME Mag 3 Million Figure

"3 Million Illegal Immigrants Annually?

Another statistic in the news is the number of illegal immigrants coming across the U.S.-Mexican border. A Time magazine story cited an estimate of 3 million illegal aliens annually crossing into the U.S., and this enormous figure has been uncritically accepted by many news and TV networks.

The origin of this number is interesting. Border agents say they apprehend approximately 1 million people annually, but estimate that three times as many people manage to make it across the border. Since three times 1 million is 3 million, an alarmist statistic is born. Ben Winograd, a freelance journalist in Arizona who has studied the issue, has noted problems with both the numbers 1 million and three.

First, 1 million apprehensions does not mean 1 million distinct individuals. It's well known that many people try over and over again to enter the U.S. and are apprehended over and over again. And the factor of three mentioned by border agents is just conjecture. How does one estimate how many people are not apprehended when these latter are, almost by definition, largely invisible? Whatever the real statistic, the 3 million figure has by now attained a life of its own."

Notice the reassuring tone provided by ABC. "It's not 3 million per year, it may be only 1-2 million instead. Everything is fine. Go back to sleep."

open emails and proxy servers

Any unencrypted email or web search can be monitored. You can go the security route, with encrypted email, proxy servers and various security programs. Crime merely requires opportunity and motive.

Could that at least

filter my spam and put my bookmarks in order while they're at it?

Hear you loud and clear on that one.

I have so much material and bookmarks that need to be categorized. However, don't have time right now because I'm still gathering, perhaps we'll all have more time after Mc Connell's finished censoring and spying on the internet.

This brings up a good point about how important it is to start downloading hardcopy as well as the links and bookmarks. Depending on how some presidential order is pass to accomplish the control of the internet, everything we have researched and posted is in jeopardy. Just start downloading entire articles and significant data.
