I just find this one interesting

Religion affects conspiracy belief
Submitted by Thomas Hargrove on Wed, 08/02/2006 - 16:33. National News (from Scrippsnews.com)

People who are active in organized religion are considerably less likely to believe in 9/11 conspiracy theories than are folks who have no religious preferences, according to the latest Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.

Only 29 percent of people who've attended worship services at a church, synagogue or mosque in the previous week believe federal officials may have assisted in the 9/11 attacks or permitted them so that the United States could go to war in the Middle East. But 46 percent of people with no religious prefence entertain this theory.

The other way to look at it is that people who attend weekly organized religion meetings are more likely to believe everything they see on the network news.

This is probably correct.

Conspiracies are too close to reality for the bible thumpers.

We hardened atheists we can take it.

Isn't "God" the greatest conspiracy theory of them all?

For some reason, I hear those words in a French accent. ;-)

Wasn't it Bertrand Russell

Wasn't it Bertrand Russell who said, when asked how he would answer to God if he discovered that his atheistic beliefs were incorrect, "You just didn't leave enough evidence?"

The religious slam atheists as heretics for their unwillingness to reverse the logical and necessary burden of proof. Official conspiracy theorists slam skeptics as heretics for the same reason. No matter how many pretzel knots they tie themselves into attempting to explain problematic and contradictory phenomena, religious and OCTers alike are indoctrinated to believe that at the point where it doesn't add up -- "Ya gotta take a leap of faith."

Most mainstream religious mouthpieces in this country are part of the flag-waving, nationalistic, propaganda machine. Over the past six years especially, God and Country morphed into God and The National Security State.

That reminds me...
