Report: French knew of al-Qaida plot
PARIS - A French intelligence service learned as early as January 2001 that al-Qaida was working on a plot to hijack U.S. airliners, and it passed the information on to the CIA, a news report said Monday.
France's Le Monde newspaper said it had obtained 328 pages of classified documents on Osama bin Laden's terror network that were drawn up by the French foreign intelligence service, the DGSE, between July 2000 and October 2001.
The Defense Ministry didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
Le Monde reported that the documents included a note dated Jan. 5, 2001, which said al-Qaida had been working on a hijacking plot for months. The intelligence note reported that bin Laden had attended a meeting in Afghanistan in October 2000, where a final decision to carry out the plot was taken, the newspaper said.
French intelligence officials apparently had no idea that al-Qaida was plotting to crash hijacked planes into buildings, as happened in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Le Monde quoted Pierre-Antoine Lorenzi, a former chief of staff for the intelligence agency's director, as saying, "You have to remember that up until 2001, hijacking an airplane did not have the same meaning as after Sept. 11. At the time, that meant forcing an airplane to land in an airport to carry out negotiations. We were used to handling that."
The newspaper said the DGSE report was passed on to the CIA chief in Paris, as was all information about possible threats to American interests.

Any current mention of 911 works to our advantage. In this case it should be possible to take this instance of LIHOP a step further -- for instance, by mentioning and asking about the NORAD "failures". Again and again. Over and over.

i agree, i love that book. i imagine that anyone who has any kind of role in the media and happens to read it must be overcome with crushing shame. Zwicker dismantles the coward media and devotes a whole chapter to that sacred cow Chomsky. brilliant stuff.
Towers of Deception is an amazing read!
But I must respectfully disagree, in my personal opinion Webster Tarpley's "Synthetic Terror: Made in the USA" has been the best volume on 9/11 to date.
Of course it's unfair to compare them so, in the end personal preference plays a big role and I think Barrie Zwicker accomplished exactly what he meant to do with that book. The 9/11 truth movement owes him so much, he's a great person. "Towers of Deception" is the best present you can give a new Truther confused about Noam Chomsky.
It is ironic that the path that has lead me to this point began when I read Chomsky's writings on intellectual responsibility and activism, but there you have it.

that everyday there is a news piece that includes al-Qaeda or some sort of 9/11 related news. this tells me the MSM is running scared. the bombing in Algeria last week was blamed on al-Qaeda. it seems that any attack is always first blamed on al-Qaeda or a network of al-Qaeda. we all know that al-Qaeda isnt what we are told it is. its most likely some sort of drug cartel.

If they were warnings, there was a (Al Qaeda) plot.
An Al Qaeda plot IS the official story.
Therefore warning "revelations" simply confirm the official story.
The official story (as well as LIHOP) is disproved beyond reasonable doubt by the evidence of controlled demolition of 3 buildings.

This "accidental declassification" from french intelligence is very interresting… French intelligence could easily imagine terrorists plans to crash jetliners on cities cause algerians islamists tried in France in 1994.

In december 1994, an Air France Flight 8969, bound for Paris from Algiers, was hijacked by the Algerian terrorist organization Armed Islamic Group (GIA).
The four hijackers boarded the aircraft disguised as Air Algerie security staff. Authorities delayed departure, but were intimidated into giving the go-ahead when the hijackers killed 2 of the 227 persons on board.
The French government decided not to allow the aircraft to approach Paris because its consulate in Oran, Algeria, had received an intelligence warning that the hijackers intended to blow up the aircraft over Paris.
The flight crew convinced the hijackers that refueling in Marseille was required. After the aircraft touched down hours of negotiations ensued, whereupon the terrorists demanded fuel. French police commandos (GIGN) stormed the aircraft and after a 20 minute gunfight successfully rescued the 161 remaining passengers (some had been released during negotiations) and 3 flight crew.

The origin of the release of the 326 pages is not clear, but I don't think that someone from la piscine ("the swimming-pool", french intelligence headquarters) just lost the complete file by driving home...
Also note that the 1994 Air France Flight 8969 Hijacking could have been a good inspiration source for people who wrote the 911 "screenplay"...

I don't like any of the books. The US military did 911. The US military controls much of the media. The "shadow government" is headed by Peter Pace.
The french are floating this story to stop the USA interferring in some French business.
Quite likely to stop the US from playing dirty towards the socialist candidate in the elections. If this is only half correct ... then the truth on 911 will increasingly be used for blackmail.
What I don't understand is why Iran has not provided us with proof from their secret-service, why Saddam never said a word, why North-Korea is quiet on 911.
