You didn't get your...

Maybe I haven't racked up enough "frequent truther miles" by annoying people as much as you. But I'm working on Nico--that should count for something.

Personally,....

I hear talking passionately

I hear talking passionately about politics to the audiance of your sexual preference acts like a babe/stud magnet.

Sadly I don't get to test this--most of the lads at our local 911group, while great guys, are either taken or SO not my type.

Broken

I thought you were going to have my babies CJS??

After you meet me... you won't even remember those other boys

Well, JJ, we seem to have some people who don't like our Beatrice/Benedict number(reference: Much Ado About Nothing).

Either they're Mark Roberts and the other registered gits, or they plan on being monks and nuns at the convention!

Impeachment. Accountability. A better world.

This was no number

I don't have to put on an act for you CJS....

Jon- The measure of who's

Jon-

The measure of who's cool and who's not remains to be taken; you'll just have to wait until 2/23 to sort us out. Or are you the type who peeks at his presents before the holiday?

Dude, I already said yes.

How many times do I have to post?

(Re: who's coming, who's cool.)

Heh...

Everyone give Janette a hug.

Its great to hear everyone getting excited about this conference, without the heavy weight on your shoulders of what this could have been.

I've corresponded with Jenette MacKinlay who has been one of the most active coordinators of this conference, and the last week has been really rough. She's worked as hard as anyone to make this conference happen, and thought it might fall apart there for a couple days.

She seemed frustrated, in her friendly way, about people on 911Blogger such as myself, who had suggested that it might be better not to go if Eric Williams was still involved. Having put so much work into the conference, I can understand why she feels this way.

In fairness, I think everyone who suggested this was bringing to the table their justified shock at what had happened, and taking the situation very seriously. There is nothing bad about people responding differently to this conference and the circumstances. I give Jon just as much credit for his 'the bastard can't keep us down' attitude, as I do casseia, for staying calm and looking for answers, as I do those who didn't want to go to this conference in the first place.

That being said, my personal response was that I would not have wanted to go if Eric Williams was at all involved, and that his involvement would be detrimental to the movement at large. Despite a few expressions of initial alarm, the conversation on that tread soon became very constructive, as we all tried to get to the bottom of what was going on. Thanks again to casseia for keeping a level head. I think many of us felt very strongly that William's presence would be a liability for the conference, and on a wider level, a liability for the movement. And casseia took action, as did many others in the movement, writing Eric to suggest that he step aside. All for the right reasons, and with the best of intentions.

Everyone at the original thread about this all expressed their feelings of empathy and concern for the organizers of the event, such as Janette. We all knew they were taking this the hardest. But this issue threatened to have a broad movement impact that surpassed the significance of this one conference, and so our approach was in many ways uncompromising.

A lot of people got bruised in this process, but more than anything, this whole episode leaves me feeling optimistic about our future. We defended ourselves, and the conference will be so much more a success as a result.

I hope that this issue is addressed at the conference in some way, and not just swept under the rug, and that it energizes the debate and discussion about strategy.

Come Hell or...

High water, I'm going to this conference. At this point, it seems as if we're being scared away. If it's one thing I'm not, is scared. Accountability for the 9/11 attacks or bust...

"So where is the oil going to come from?... The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world's oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies."

Richard Cheney - Chief Executive Of Halliburton

I'm listening to Kevin

I'm listening to Kevin Barrett interview Carol Brouillet right now. They're goin'. You're goin'. I'm goin.'

I think there is an effort to scare us away -- there is a clear effort to paint the conference as if contaminated by the plague -- and if we go, we'll catch it. The motivations of the Screw Loose Change people are clear, but they're not the only ones.

And...

If you see someone you don't like, stay away from them. No need to start a scene to feed the newspapers with ammunition.

"So where is the oil going to come from?... The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world's oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies."

Richard Cheney - Chief Executive Of Halliburton

Huh?

What exactly are you envisioning? Not that I'm the sort of person who would do anything of the type.

I understand...

Certain people are going that have a history of causing scenes. I am going to avoid them.

"So where is the oil going to come from?... The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world's oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies."

Richard Cheney - Chief Executive Of Halliburton

Mmmkay.

If a little birdie were to give me a head's up regarding who needs to be given a wide berth, I would listen.

Mmmkay.

"So where is the oil going to come from?... The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world's oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies."

Richard Cheney - Chief Executive Of Halliburton

Excellent advice, Jon. Even

Excellent advice, Jon. Even though I'm not going I know I'd be just the person who needed to be reminded of this. Save confrontations for formal debating at the conference. Anyone trying to "start a fight" firmly tell them you're not interested, and if they persist to the point you HAVE to walk away to get away , GET SECURITY. That is what they pay them for. After that, THEY WILL BEHAVE or be gone.

I can SO see certain people showing up for the sole purpose of causing a scene. And you won't recognize them all, but for those of you who's pictures are known--Jon--expect to be watched.

Remember, these wankers spend hours disrupting 911 sites; do not put it past them to go out of their way to come and even register at the convention.

Preparation is the first defense against drama. If you have a plan you can stick to and follow through, you will less likely be taken by surprise IF something does happen.

Good luck all.

Impeachment. Accountability. A better world.

Do what they did at GZ on the 5th anniversary...

If you think someone is there to disrupt...

FILM em, the more filming the better.

Worked very well on the fifth anniversary when everyone had cameras.

Best wishes to all that attend, I hope it goes really well.

I would just like to say...

That the people who organized this event, have received a TREMENDOUS amount of flack. A TREMENDOUS amount of flack. I would hope that you send people like Janette MacKinley, Kent Knudson, and co. a thank you.
