State....was working on the 81st floor of the north tower when the attacks happened. He scrambled down the stairs and heard voices in the darkness on the 68th floor. He discovered a woman in a wheelchair who needed help and proceeded to carry her down 68 floors to safety....

....The study does not attempt to explain why much of the mass of the building vaporized into fine dust....
....The NIST investigation also omitted or distorted many important aspects of the collapses, including movement of the WTC1 antenna before the adjacent facade, the pyroclastic dust clouds, and pools of molten metal In the WTC basements weeks after the attacks....
....The NIST study is a product of the Bush administration. An enumeration of the inconsistencies of the NIST study is consistent with a long standing and well documented pattern of Bush administration abuse of the scientific method.
The House Committee on Government Reform found "numerous instances where this Administration has manipulated the scientific process and distorted or suppressed scientific findings."
On February 18, 2004, over 60 leading scientists, including Nobel laureates, signed a statement that "The distortion of scientific knowledge for partisan political ends must cease". Since then, over 9000 additional scientists and engineers have signed on. [7]
A clear example of distortion of scientific knowledge was seen in the subsequent declaration by EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman that the "air is safe" in Manhattan a week after the attacks. In fact, according to top scientists, the air at Ground Zero was highly corrosive, and a "significant threat to health." The White House Council on Environmental Quality directed the EPA to edit the scientific findings "based on how it should be released publicly."[8]....

Ues, the fine dust (100 micron) is one large piece of observed evidence that must be explained. The "explanandum" is sciene is simply that body of available relevant evidence (and remember we only have a small part of the actual evidence) that must be explained by any hypothesis or eventual theory.
From what I have heard about thermite and thermate, they are the cutters of the thick steel beams in buildings. I have not heard anyone test or prove that termite and thermate alone, no matter how widely placed in the buildings, could account for the truly massive cloud of superfine dust. The twin towers and the dust and dust clouds were "blown to Kingdom Come." That is why the rubble at the footprint of each of the twin towers was relatively small in mass. The major part of each tower was blown away by some massive energy source. Given ALL the points of evidence that needs to be explained (the explanandum), it is unlikely that thermite and thermate alone will be able to FULLY explain the apparent massive energy involved. But if somehow those substances alone can be scientifically proven to explain all evidence, then well and good.
Take a look at the South Tower. The huge top several floor part of the building was tilting over at an extreme angle. Then, instead of that huge chunck of building falling straight down as gravity would assume, a huge dust loud then envelops that tilting mass and the entire top half of building 2 becomes obliterated by massive dust. Steel was turned to dust. Aluminum was turned to dust. People were turned into bits of DNA particles.
