Pentagon began project to replicate deadly anthrax strain before 9/11

Ivins did not have the ways and means to weaponize his anthrax. But West Jefferson, Ohio, laboratory of the Battelle Memorial Institute, a military contractor that has been selected to create the genetically altered anthrax did.

U.S. Germ Warfare Research Pushes Treaty Limits
By THE NEW YORK TIMES

This article was reported and written by Judith Miller, Stephen Engelberg and William J. Broad.

Over the past several years, the United States has embarked on a program of secret research on biological weapons that, some officials say, tests the limits of the global treaty banning such weapons.

The 1972 treaty forbids nations from developing or acquiring weapons that spread disease, but it allows work on vaccines and other protective measures. Government officials said the secret research, which mimicked the major steps a state or terrorist would take to create a biological arsenal, was aimed at better understanding the threat.

The projects, which have not been previously disclosed, were begun under President Clinton and have been embraced by the Bush administration, which intends to expand them.

Before 9/11 - Hauer oversaw NYC's response to building collapses

Just found this NYT's write up on Jerome Hauer from 1999, while he was NYC's OEM Manager.

Part of Hauer's job was to oversee the investigation of any building collapses.

Apparently, Hauer knows alot about ways to bring down buildings, just like he knows a lot about bio-terrorism and WTC security.

What Could Go Wrong? It's His Job to Know

JERRY HAUER, to put it bluntly, likes guts. Meaning viscera, innards, the stuff things are made of.

There is one story he tells in which this fascination is quite literal (more on that later). But another illustration, a bit more metaphorical, his hard to miss when you walk into his office on the 23d floor of 7 World Trade Center, otherwise known as ''the bunker,'' the $13 million bulletproof, hurricane-proof, blackout-proof emergency crisis center opened by the city last month.

Port Authority 68% liable for 1993 WTC bombing

April 30, 2008

NEW YORK—A New York appeals court has affirmed a jury’s verdict that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is liable for damages from the 1993 terrorist bombing at the World Trade Center that killed six people and wounded about 1,000 others.

The Port Authority was warned about the WTC’s vulnerability years before terrorists exploded a truck bomb in its underground parking lot, but the agency rejected steps to tighten security and the jury’s 2005 decision finding it negligent was reasonable, a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division of New York’s State Supreme Court ruled Tuesday.

At the time of the jury verdict, the Port Authority was facing 575 claims from individuals injured in the attack, WTC tenants, and insurers with subrogation claims for losses paid to tenant policyholders. Most of those claims have since been resolved, and pending claims—mostly for personal injury and business interruption—number fewer than 50, a Port Authority spokesman said.

“We look forward to resolving those cases as well,” the spokesman said.

Rick Renzi - Key 9/11/01 Eyewitness' Indicted for Fraud

AZ Congressman and state co-chair for John McCain's Arizona leadership team was also a key eyewitness who claims to have seen Flight 77 hit the Pentagon. Under the circumstances, his credibility seems to have gone down the toilet.

Feb 22, 2008

According to Friday's indictment of Renzi, the Arizona Republican "concealed his misappropriation and embezzlement by filing Federal Election Commission Form 3, Reports of Receipts and Disbursements, on or about Jan. 24, 2002, for the final quarter of 2001. During the period Dec. 11, 2001 through Dec. 31, 2001, Renzi claimed total receipts of $404,090.00, all of which he claimed to be loans from himself. In fact, as as Renzi well knew, more than $300,000.00 of those funds constituted insurance premiums that were neither the property of Renzi nor of Renzi and Company."

In total, Renzi allegedly steered $422,000 in embezzled funds to his campaign between Dec. 2001 and March 2002, according to the indictment. Beardall allegedly assisted Renzi in covering up the embezzlement from state insurance regulators in Florida and Virginia.
