Dr. Frank Legge has published an excellent article “Conspiracy Theories, Myths, Skepticism, and 9/11: their Impact on Democracy” in the Journal of 9/11 Studies, today. It passed peer review prior to publication.

It begins thus: “Abstract: A discussion of conspiracy theories, myths and skepticism is presented. The importance of skepticism in a society in which myths may be deliberately created by authorities to manipulate the public is stressed. A range of methods of avoiding acceptance of myths, including application of the scientific method, is demonstrated using the events of 9/11. A clear understanding of events, unclouded by myths, is essential for the proper functioning of a democracy.

In this short documentary-style video, I outline the mathematics and science of WTC7 as it relates to its uniform 6.5 second collapse at 5:20 pm on the evening of September 11th. I also briefly touch upon the government analyses conducted by FEMA and NIST, and I compare the collapse to known controlled demolitions and similar steel structures with fire and/or structural damage. Additional info that the viewer may find applicable is that more than half of the diesel fuel was recovered by the two largest underground storage tanks post-collapse (documented by FEMA), and that fires on the north, west, and east sides of the building did not appear to be out of control. In the intro to the vid, the BBC field reporter mysteriously digitizes out of the conversation minutes before WTC7's collapse, after having prematurely reported its collapse 20 minutes before it occured (with the building standing behind the field reporter in plain sight). Also interesting to note, if the hypothesis of NIST is true, then controlled demolition crews only have to weaken one core column in a skyscraper to perfectly implode it.

At 5:20 p.m. on the evening of September 11th, 2001, the Salomon Brothers Building, also known as 7 World Trade Center (WTC7), the northernmost building on the World Trade Center complex, uniformly collapsed in 6.5 seconds. It produced a rubble pile with a radius similar its original dimensions and approximately seven stories tall [1].

The recent rediscovery of the Aman Zafar photo of WTC7 has sparked a lot of controversy over its authenticity and over the authenticity of the photo published in the NIST report.

I will analyze and compare these two and two other photos of the lower southwest corner of WTC7 and determine that there was indeed damage done to the southwest corner on floors 8-18 with the deepest damage occurring around the 12th floor.

The Zafar photo which seemingly shows an intact corner on the 12th floor, reveals more damage when studied in detail. An optical illusion gives the false impression of an intact corner (column) on the 12th floor. The other photos show that indeed the corner was gone at this level.

The NIST/NYPD shot shares some features with the other photos but it has anomalies that are suggestive of deliberate manipulation.

Why Did the Towers Fall?

Debates have been raging for years about whether or not the twin towers of the World Trade Center collapsed due to the impact of the two commercial airliners that struck them on 9/11/2001. Questions about the collapse of building 7, which was not struck by a plane, also feed the conspiratorial fire. Could terrorists have planted explosives throughout the World Trade Center in advance of the crashes? Were the fires caused by the planes enough to bring down these engineering marvels? Wherein lies the truth?

Please utilize this checklist of quotations from the NIST and FEMA reports on the WTC collapses. I have copied these examples from Improbable Collapse, which I recommend.

Remind OCTs that the official studies of the collapses were underfunded, inadequate in every way, and ultimately inconclusive:

"With the information and time available, the sequence of events leading to the collapse each tower could not be definitively determined." – FEMA BEPAT, Executive Summary, p.2

Remind OCTs that the airplane impacts did not topple WTC 1 and 2, and that the official theory is essentially based on the claim that fire brought down steel-reinforced skyscrapers for the first time in history:

"The towers likely would not have collapsed under the combined effects of aircraft impact damage and the extensive, multi-floor fires if the thermal insulation had not been widely dislodged or had been only minimally dislodged by aircraft impact." – NIST, p. xxxviii

Remind OCTs that the fires did not burn hot enough to melt or deform steel, and that NIST could not replicate the collapse of the steel when it burned models for over 2 hours:

You may have read reprehensor's hint to Thomas-Scott Gordon's affadavit on the demolition of the WTC. Thomas-Scott Gordon mentions (in not too friendly a context) one certain Kurt Sonnenfeld, who he suspected to be following him arround (accompanied by one Jim Chestnut) on behalf of the FBI.

That name rang a bell. Because some more Info about that same Sonnenfeld I found here:

According to the story, Sonnenfeld now is in Argentina (read link to find out the bizarre details). In an interview with Argentine daily newspaper El Pais on September 10th 2006 he is supposed to have said (about his work as a photographer for FEMA on Ground Zero, during the "remove the rubble" cleanup operation)::

"I was the only person, with camera in hand, with total and absolute access to any area of Ground Zero and the WTC. Any other cameras that were within that area would have been confiscated and the the (sic!) person carrying them arrested. [....] What I saw at certain moments and in certain places...is very frightening, I don't know who (sic!) to put it in words, what I saw leads me to the terrible conclusion that there was foreknowledge of what was going to happen."
