The Environmental Impact Of 9/11

The 9/11 Cover-Up

Just an FYI... the NYTimes came out with what appears to be a "hit piece" today with regard to the Toxic Dust. The "Debunkers" have jumped on it of course. Soooo... there aren't policemen and firemen walking around with mobile respirators? There aren't over 100 people that died that just happened to be down at Ground Zero? Coincidence? Is this all a figment of my imagination? The "Debunkers" have stooped to a new low. Even though they say that they "hope and pray that working on the pile did not lead to longterm problems for a large number of the people involved, but that's just hoping for the best for them, not the best for us" in their "debunking", the "debunking" itself, at least to me, is like attacking the heroes of 9/11. They would step on the sick and dying responders just because of one article, completely ignoring the years of other articles that substantiate what we're saying, just to try and make us look bad. Way to go guys. You should be proud. - Jon

Two 9/11 Heroes Die

There are no words to describe my anger. None. - Jon

September 6, 2007 -- Two more cops have died of 9/11-related lung cancer, according to their families.

Officer Frank Macari, 51, died on Monday, after a five-year battle with the disease.

Macari, a 13-year veteran of the force assigned to Brooklyn, developed a tumor on his leg in December 2001, after working at Ground Zero. He leaves a wife and stepdaughter.

Officer Madeline Caro, 41, a 16-year veteran, succumbed to lung cancer in July. Carlo, assigned to the South Bronx, also spent days at the World Trade Center site. She leaves a son and daughter.

Macari's family will file papers, as Carlo's family has done, to obtain line-of-duty benefits from the NYPD.

Meanwhile, the sixth annual NYPD 9/11 Memorial Weekend begins tomorrow with a 1 p.m. parade in lower Manhattan, ending at the police memorial wall at Liberty Street and South End Avenue. The weekend includes a Saturday-night concert at Town Hall in honor of the NYPD's 9/11 victims. It stars tenor Ronan Tynan.

Yesterday, I went to the 9/11 First Responder benefit concert held by John Feal, and the FealGood Foundation. Don, and Marie were nice enough to accompany me. Don was my... ehem... navigator, and Marie had a good time with the camera. The trip that should have taken us 2 hours took 4 and a half instead. Along the way, we saw Spiderman, a topless cowgirl, the David Letterman show, Times Square, the Empire State Building, a multitude of shops, and the great people of New York City. We also had an unfortunate, and "weird" run-in with the law. I'd never been pulled over before at a "checkpoint." I wonder if this is commonplace in New York City. To Don, it reminded him of the phrase "papers please" that was often spoken in Nazi Germany.

Whitman's Testimony From The Perspective Of A Republican Strategist

Whitman stood up to panel bent on assessing 9/11 blame

Agree with her or not. Like her politics or despise them. But former Gov. Christine Todd Whitman deserves points for going before a congressional panel last week to answer questions about her role and that of the Environmental Protection Agency that she headed in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Whitman had to know she hadn't a friend in the room and that the hostile members of Congress were going to be pumped up by an audience stacked with people who were eager to continue to blame her for every health problem encountered since 9/11. Yet, she sat for three hours, answering questions and doing her utmost to fend off the snide comments and accusations that she had lied, failed and bore responsibility for the deteriorating health of hundreds of people who worked in or around the Trade Center rubble.

Thanks To Everyone Who Donated To The 9/11 First Responder Fund-Raiser

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that donated to this fund-raiser. We didn't do as well as the last time, but we still raised a considerable amount of money. In the first six months of this year, the 9/11 Truth Movement, at least through the fund-raisers held on 911Blogger.com (and posted elsewhere, thank you), have donated a total of $5,550.00 to the 9/11 First Responders. That's an excellent accomplishment, and I am thankful to be apart of it.

Just because the fund-raiser is over, does not mean you still can't donate. If you would like to donate, please visit the following sites:

Rep. Jerrold Nadler's Opening Statement At The EPA Hearings

I am no fan of Rep. Nadler's but this opening statement is pretty powerful. I have to give credit when credit is due. - Jon

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today gaveled in the first comprehensive House hearing on the actions of the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) and other federal agencies that may have harmed the health of individuals living and working in the vicinity of the World Trade Center on or after September 11, 2001. Congressman Nadler represents the district where the World Trade Center once stood.

Whitman: EPA Knew 9/11 Contamination Put Workers, Residents At Risk

The "rules of the House of Representatives" prohibit audience members from hoisting signs and from disrupting proceedings with applause, anger, or any other kind of outburst. To judge from his admonition to the crowd at the end of his opening statement, it seems clear that Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), chair of the judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution, civil rights, and civil liberties, suspected that Monday's proceedings might inflame emotions.

He was correct.

"In all instances, federal agencies acted with the best available data at the time, and updated their communications and actions as new information was obtained," James Connaughton, head of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in prepared testimony to a Senate panel led by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Oh really James?

"Two devastating memos, written by the U.S. and local governments, show they knew. They knew the toxic soup created at Ground Zero was a deadly health hazard. Yet they sent workers into the pit and people back into their homes."

NYC Links First Death To 9/11 Toxic Dust

Woman died of lung disease five months after World Trade Center attacks

Source: msnbc.com

NEW YORK - A woman who died of lung disease five months after Sept. 11 was added Wednesday to the medical examiner's list of attack victims, marking the first time the city has officially linked a death to the toxic dust caused by the World Trade Center's collapse.

Felicia Dunn-Jones, a 42-year-old attorney who was caught in the dust cloud while fleeing the collapsing towers on Sept. 11, 2001, died of sarcoidosis, a disease that causes inflammation and scarring in the lungs, on Feb. 10, 2002.

"Mrs. Dunn-Jones' exposure to World Trade Center dust on 9/11/01 contributed to her death, and it has been ruled a homicide," Chief Medical Examiner Charles Hirsch wrote.

The city said the Sept. 11 death toll at the trade center now stands at 2,750.

Dunn-Jones' family had asked last year that the medical examiner add her name to the death toll, but Hirsch wrote at the time that his office could not link her death to the exposure "with certainty beyond a reasonable doubt."

Christie Todd Whitman Refuses To Testify At Congressional Hearing

WASHINGTON — The former head of the Environmental Protection Agency is balking at a request by Rep. Jerrold Nadler that she testify before a congressional hearing on the federal response to the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Christine Todd Whitman, the EPA administrator at the time, has declined an invitation to appear before a House subcommittee that Mr. Nadler chairs, an aide to the congressman said yesterday. Mr. Nadler, whose district includes ground zero, is expected to ask Ms. Whitman again before considering whether to seek to compel her testimony with a subpoena, the aide, speaking on condition of anonymity, said.

Mr. Nadler and Senator Clinton yesterday announced companion hearings to investigate what they say was the government's failure to respond adequately to the environmental crisis in Lower Manhattan that resulted from the attack on the World Trade Center. Mr. Nadler's hearing is scheduled for May 22; Mrs. Clinton's is set for June 20.

Ground Zero Illnesses Clouding Giuliani's Legacy

Anyone who watched Rudolph W. Giuliani preside over ground zero in the days after 9/11 glimpsed elements of his strength: decisiveness, determination, self-confidence.

Those qualities were also on display over the months he directed the cleanup of the collapsed World Trade Center. But today, with evidence that thousands of people who worked at ground zero have become sick, many regard Mr. Giuliani’s triumph of leadership as having come with a human cost.

An examination of Mr. Giuliani’s handling of the extraordinary recovery operation during his last months in office shows that he seized control and largely limited the influence of experienced federal agencies. In doing that, according to some experts and many of those who worked in the trade center’s ruins, Mr. Giuliani might have allowed his sense of purpose to trump caution in the rush to prove that his city was not crippled by the attack.

Cancer Kills 9/11 Cop, 46

May 14, 2007 -- A retired NYPD detective who worked for the elite Emergency Service Unit died early yesterday of pancreatic and lung cancer believed to be related to his work at Ground Zero.

Retired Detective Robert Williamson, 45, died at his Orange County home with family around him, said Detectives Endowment Association head Michael Palladino.

"Unfortunately, I knew this day was going to come for a long time," Palladino said. "We are just now starting to see the long-term health affects of 9/11 on first responders."

Williamson was the third NYPD cop to succumb to cancers believed related to their post-9/11 service.

9/11 First Responders To Be On "The View" This Friday, 4/27

Sorry about that. It's being taped tomorrow, but showing on Friday. As John Feal told me, "that's tv world." - Jon

From John Feal:

I hope you all get a chance to watch the 9/11 responders on "The View" on ABC @11.00AM this Wednesday the 25th. One of those responders will be Vito Valenti, a 9/11 volunteer, sick with fibrosis of the lungs and needs a double lung transplant. Vito also sits on the board of directors at the FealGood Foundation. I can only hope Rosie and the others do the right thing for these three heroes that day. Please support these brave souls, Bonnie Giebfried, Alex Sanchez and Vito, and the FealGood foundation.

Thank you and God bless you all.
