The Washington Post is reporting that Congressman Kucinich will file articles of impeachment against Cheney.
This essay lays out a very strong legal argument for impeachment based upon Cheney falsely linking Iraq and 9/11.

Also, please work the boards at Huffington Post, Daily Kos and elsewhere (you can find some places to post by looking here), to urge that impeachment be initiated against Cheney and that articles of impeachment include 9/11.
I am very aware of the arguments by some 9/11 truthers against impeachment. However, it is impossible to try a sitting Vice President (or President) until they are removed from office. Therefore, impeachment is a good first step. In other words, criminal or war crimes trials cannot occur until Cheney is out of office, and impeachment is a way to help show him the door early.
By the way, here is an argument for why Cheney should be impeached first, before Bush or anyone else.

We can't and don't need to wait for Kucinich. According to the Washington Post:

The law I sore an oath to uphold and defend with my life against all enemies, actually is a constitutional republic, with merely a tradition of democracy.
In this context, a constitutional republic (and in our particular case, an amendable written document which is retained by the people, and NEVER by her always transient and abolishable governments as the people may so choose from time to time) insures that even a minority of one, retains life affirming inalienable rights which no majority can EVER deny any minority, not even any single, individual.
That alone, is the precious jewel of inspiration which is what really changed everything hundreds of years ago. Although oft less emphasized in our hell bent schools where no child is to be tested for their comprehension of THIS, nor when people clutch their heart and flap that god awful Flag in other's faces.
The tradition of democracy, is that far lesser concept where We Big Mob wax and wane between periods of greater and lesser civility. "Let's take an honest vote that we can confirm and trust..." vs. "Let's go to town and rip us some pigs to pieces." Mind you, both are very much "democracies" in their own right... one is more bloodless, the other a bloody fucking mess.
When the people allow their government to abuse... what/how/when/where/whom -ever... and to not put things in check before reaching extremes (such as we have in 2007) the lesser of the lesser becomes an ever increasing likelihood as the better and the best are finally remembered from a distance.
The meanings and implications are very important, and yes... I too would very much like to see these Ideas reclaimed by we the people. In the most bloodless fashion possible.
Knowledge, and sharing it with others... is the best way to defuse the powder keg under our feet.

But I was speaking more about collective rule by the people instead of by an elite. I believe the Bill of Rights is important for that.
My US history is not so firm, but as I remember it, the elites (the landed and slave-owning gentry) presided over making the Constitution, while the populists insisted also on a Bill of Rights. It was only by luck that the populist voice got heard. It was a very close call, and very lucky. The gentry were very much against it.

what McKinney did while she
what McKinney did while she was in government puts Kucinich' entire career to shame. and she had more resistance than Kucinich has ever had on so many levels. there really is no comparison. McKinney has proved that she is for real.
She may be for real,
but what lasting, substantive change has happened due to her efforts? That's not a criticism against her, that's yet another example of how entrenched and unrelenting the system is to outside OR INSIDE resistance. In the grand scheme, her efforts didn't even make a dent, but that has nothing to do with her valiant attempts. Only We, the People can shake the foundations of empire. A well-meaning representative can't do a lot when the very system she/he works for is by its design poised to terminate any real fledgling progress attempted against itself by an individual official and his/her constituents. Why do we have all these coincidences of only the great leaders or leaders "with potential" having such bad luck with "lone gunmen" and "freak accidents"? Just happened to be 3 Kennedy family members, Dr. King, Malcom X, and Paul Wellstone, who would probably be spearheading the drive for a new investigation at this time...or perhaps much sooner...if only his plane would have been operating properly that day. Such freakishly bad luck!

I can assume the impact was small because nothing of great consequence has happened because of it. Children are still being murdered and trafficked for sex, and police still murder and mame unhindered. And the Constitution is still being ripped to shreds. I do appreciate your words, but I'm only saying the system is rotten to the core.
I think you may be missing the point.
There comes a point where, when, knowing the system is evil, you must decide whether to adopt the tools of the system, hoping one day to turn against while always running the risk of selling out,
or
knowing that your leverage in an evil system is nil, calling the system on its shite and MAKING it show how morally bankrupt it is, encouraging peopel to look for other options.
The first choice is one many Democrats make under the delusion of "being realistic". The problem is, if the system is that bad, no amount of flying under the radar within it will work unless you have as much independent resources as the bastards your fighting.
Course many don't find out how bad it is until years IN the system. Then comes the choice--do I deal with evil to do good and stay in denial about the fact they will never let me do good if they can help it, or do I expose evil knowing they will attack or kill me?
See, as the system is set up currently, there really isn't a choice. And Cynthia saw that, and knew she had nothing to lose by STANDING for what she knew was right. Do not underestimate the "great consequence" of simply knowing a person is willing to STAND for what you know is right. How many of us on-line are here precisely because we were inspired by people who stood and told the truth, consequences be damned?
That is what they used to call leadership and moral authority. And that example strengthens and supports our individual ethical choices--that lead us to see the system IS rotten to the core, and work on a replacement.

Kucinich says he's ALSO pursuing impeachment of Bush. Well let's help him out. Sacks and sacks of mail are about to arrive in Dennis Kucinich's office initiating impeachment via the House of Representative's own rules. This legal document is as binding as if a State or if the House itself passed the impeachment resolution (H.R. 635).
Kucinich says he is building his case for impeachment, and is working to build the support of his peers in Congress. He says he intends to impeach. He said he needs us to keep building the groundswell of support for impeachment all over the country. He asks that we send him copies of all the resolutions passed in various States, local Legislative Districts, County Districts and of any petitions with signatures, so that he can present them to the floor of the House. He said he felt that our framing the issue of impeachment in terms of the Constitution is a principled choice, and ultimately more effective than just acting on anger. Let's answer Kucinich's call with a petition that has it's precedent in history, and it's legitimacy in the Rules of the House of Representatives.
There's a little known and rarely used clause of the "Jefferson Manual" in the rules for the House of Representatives which sets forth the various ways in which a president can be impeached. Only the House Judiciary Committee puts together the Articles of Impeachment, but before that happens, someone has to initiate the process.
That's where we come in. In addition to a House Resolution (635), or the State-by-State method, one of the ways to get impeachment going is for individual citizens like you and me to submit a memorial. ImpeachforPeace.org has created a new memorial based on one which was successful in impeaching a federal official in the past. You can find it on their website as a PDF.
You can initiate the impeachment process and simultaneously help Kucinich to follow through with the process. Do-It-Yourself by downloading the memorial, filling in the relevant information (your name, state, etc.), and sending it in. We're not only having you send them to Dennis now, but also to Impeach for Peace. That way, we can collect them all in one place, and deliver them all simultaneously (with cameras rolling) in July.
