We were told that CeeCee Lyles was a flight attendant
on United Flight 93. The following news report states
that in early 2004 her husband, Lorne Lyles, received
more than $1-million from United, the Victim's
Compensation Fund and several charities.

In Fort Myers, Fla., Lorne Lyles didn't hear the phone
ringing. He'd worked the night shift and had lain down
to sleep at 7:30. At 9:47 a.m., the answering machine
picked up a call from his wife, CeeCee, stranded in
the back of the airplane. When the tape was played back
hours later, CeeCee Lyles could be heard praying for
her family, for herself, for the souls of the men who
had hijacked her plane. "I hope I'll see your face
again," she said.

The plane, scheduled to leave at 8 a.m., took off 42
minutes late because of backups on the runway. At 9:24
a.m., a flight dispatcher radioed the pilot that two
planes had hit the World Trade Center. "Beware any
cockpit intrusion," he said. Two minutes later,
hijackers took over Flight 93. The last communication
from the plane, which went down in a field in western
Pennsylvania, was a cell-phone call from CeeCee to
Lorne at their townhouse. "We're being hijacked," he
remembers she said, before telling him that she and
others were planning to take the plane back. They
prayed and asked God to bring her home safely. After
that, the phone went dead. It was a few minutes after
10 a.m. Lorne called his supervisor at the Fort Myers
Police Department and asked him to report the
hijacking. The supervisor, who was watching one
tragedy after another unfold on national TV,
immediately sent the chaplain and victim's advocate to
the Lyles' house.

And so on September 11th, she boarded Flight 93 headed
from Newark to San Francisco. As you probably know,
it was a flight that never reached its destination.
Somewhere over Pennsylvania, the passengers and crew
helped bring down the plane that was minutes from its
intended target in the Washington DC area. But before
they did, CeeCee Lyles called home to tell Lorne of
her love for him and the boys, and then she calmly
prayed.

called her husband at home in Fort Myers, Florida,
according to her aunt."She called him and let him know
how much she loved him and the boys," Maria Schneider
said.As people screamed in the background, Ms

KING: Two incredible stories. The first, we go to Fort Pierce,
Florida. Lorne Lyles is with us. His wife,
Ceecee, was a flight attendant -- there you see her
picture right behind him -- on United Airlines Flight
93, the one that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania,
after passengers attacked the hijackers. There's the
lovely late Ceecee. Lorne, you're a police officer,
right, Lorne?

LORNE LYLES: Yes, I am, in Fort Myers, Florida.

KING: And she called you from the plane? Is that what
happened?

LYLES: Yes, she did.

KING: Tell me what she said.

LYLES: When I -- you know, when I look at the caller
ID, I always answer the phone by saying, "Hello, babe,

how are you doing?" So when I said, "Hello, babe, how
are you doing," she said, "Babe," she said, "my plane
has been hijacked," and she said, "they forced their
way into the cockpit." And then she went on to say
that, you know -- how much she loved me. She just
called to tell me that she loved me, and she wanted to
kids to know, and for me to tell the kids that she
loved them all.

KING: Now, had you already known about what happened
at the World Trade Center?

LYLES: No, I did not. I had just worked the previous
night shift. I work from 9:00 at night until 7:00 in
the morning. And I was asleep (UNINTELLIGIBLE).

KING: What did you do right after she hung up, Lorne?

LYLES: I called my mother-in-law, and I called United
Airlines.

The same time, CeeCee Lyles says to her husband, "Aah,
it feels like the plane's going down." Her husband
replies, "What's that?" She says, "They're getting
ready to force their way into the cockpit." A little
later she screams, then says "They're doing it!

hears screaming and then the call breaks off.
