OKLAHOMA CITY – Long-secret security tapes showing the chaos immediately after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building are blank in the minutes before the blast and appear to have been edited, an attorney who obtained the recordings said Sunday.

"The real story is what's missing," said Jesse Trentadue, a Salt Lake City attorney who obtained the recordings through the federal Freedom of Information Act as part of an unofficial inquiry he is conducting into the April 19, 1995, bombing that killed 168 people and injured hundreds more.

Trentadue gave copies of the tapes to The Oklahoman newspaper, which posted them online and provided copies to The Associated Press.

The tapes turned over by the FBI came from security cameras various companies had mounted outside office buildings near the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. They are blank at points before 9:02 a.m., when a truck bomb carrying a 4,000 pound fertilizer-and-fuel-oil bomb detonated in front of the building, Trentadue said.

"Four cameras in four different locations going blank at basically the same time on the morning of April 19, 1995. There ain't no such thing as a coincidence," Trentadue said.

He said government officials claim the security cameras did not record the minutes before the bombing because "they had run out of tape" or "the tape was being replaced."

"The interesting thing is they spring back on after 9:02," he said. "The absence of footage from these crucial time intervals is evidence that there is something there that the FBI doesn't want anybody to see."

A spokesman for the FBI in Oklahoma City, Gary Johnson, declined to comment and referred inquiries about the tapes to FBI officials in Washington, who were not immediately available for comment Sunday.

The soundless recordings show people rushing from nearby buildings after the bomb went off. Some show people fleeing through corridors cluttered with debris. None show the actual explosion that ripped through the federal building.

FBI agents did not report finding any security tapes from the federal building itself.

The FBI in the past refused to release the security camera recordings, leading Trentadue and others to contend the government was hiding evidence that others were involved in the attack.

"It's taken a lawsuit and years to get the tapes," Trentadue said.

He received the latest batch of tapes over the summer in response to an April request for video from security cameras in 11 different locations. Nothing on the tapes was unexpected.

"The more important thing they show is what they don't show," Trentadue said. "These cameras would have shown the various roads and approaches to the Murrah Building."

Trentadue began looking into the bombing after his brother, Kenneth Trentadue, died at the Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center in August 1995. Kenneth Trentadue was a convicted bank robber who was held at the federal prison after being picked up as a parole violator at his home in San Diego in June 1995.

He was never a bombing suspect, but Jesse Trentadue alleges guards mistook his brother for one and beat him to death during an interrogation. The official cause of Kenneth Trentadue's death is listed as suicide, but his body had 41 wounds and bruises that Jesse Trentadue believes could have come only from a beating.

A judge in 2001 awarded Kenneth Trentadue's family $1.1 million for extreme emotional distress in the government's handling of his death.

Jesse Trentadue said he has received about 30 security tapes, including some images that were used as evidence at bomber Timothy McVeigh's trial. McVeigh was convicted on federal murder and conspiracy charges and executed in 2001. Coconspirator Terry Nichols is serving life in prison on federal and state bombing convictions.

Trentadue said he is seeking more tapes along with a variety of bombing-related documents from the FBI and the CIA. An FOIA request by Trentadue for 26 CIA documents was rejected in June. A letter from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which reviewed the documents, said their release "could cause grave damage to our national security."

Trentadue said he gave the latest set of tapes to The Oklahoman because of their historical value. The newspaper has agreed to provide copies to the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.

For those who are not familiar...

EDIT 9/29/09: Embedding a higher quality video of the same.

This Blogger article "Key to the Truth in Oklahoma" is good.

Listening to one of the grand jury members, Hoppy Heidelberg, tell his story is fascinating. He tried like hell to call witnesses who were a liability to the official story.

National Security?!? WTF, Traitor Security.

Could someone PLEASE tell me what the first few minutes of tape could show, now that McVeigh has been killed, that "could cause grave damage to our National security"? Oh, wait, perhaps the fact that it was a False Flag attack, and this would put those in Washington at risk... so it's just a risk to the Federal Government, not to National Security. I think there is a difference and the National Security excuse it not supposed to be to save traitors. Yeah, I said it, TRAITORS.

Pray for the peaceful tax revolution. As Cheney said, "I don't care what they say as long as they keep paying their taxes." (Or something like that.)

Orville G,

what the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency means by causing damage to American national security is it would cause damage to the continuing war that goes on with the USSR. Ever wonder why just after the collapse of the USSR in December 1991 bombs were going off here in America and abroad? The 1993 WTC bombing, the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, the bombings of the American embassies in Africa in 1998, the 2000 USS Cole bombing in Yemen and finally the 9/11 attacks were all false-flag operations setting the stage for the encirclement of the USSR and their ally the Peoples Republic of China. Because certain elements inside and outside of the government wish to maintain a strong, offensive-capable military presence in the world to counter the still present USSR, a series of self-inflicted violent actions were committed right after the ‘collapse’ of the USSR in 1991 to:

1. allow the government greater latitude in its surveillance and incarceration powers at home; and

2. create a new false enemy abroad (Al Queada) as a cover for the war that still exists between the West and the USSR.

Something smells here, and it ain't fertilizer!

The Reagan and Bush I administrations wanted Congress to pass anti-terror legislation with unconstitutional provisions that included the "resurrection of guilt by association, association as grounds for exclusion or deportation, the ban on supporting lawful activities of groups labeled terrorist, the use of secret evidence, and the empowerment of the Secretary of State to designate groups as terrorist organizations, without judicial or congressional review." The legislation languished in Congress, with both Democrat and Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee questioning the need for such drastic legislation. Not even the 1993 WTC bombing was a good enough reason to convince Congress to pass the ‘anti-terror’ legislation (only six were killed). However the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995 changed the political atmosphere on this issue (168 were killed). The next year the anti-terror legislation became law.

In the Murrah Federal Building bombing incident it is known that there were two other bombs located in the building that were larger than the initial bomb that exploded. This news was suppressed by the national media, but managed to leak out through the local media in Oklahoma City. The unexploded bombs are not to be confused with the TOW antitank missile that was revealed seven years after the incident to have been found during the Murrah Federal Building rescue operations. Since the two bombs found were said by the authorities to be larger than the first that exploded, then one of those bombs could not have been a TOW missile, since a TOW missile would not come anywhere close to destroying one-third of the Murrah Federal Building. Furthermore, the Oklahoma City media reported authorities saying two bombs larger than the first were found, not one bomb with less destructive power than the bomb that went off. The FBI also refused the testimonies of 22 eyewitnesses that contradicted the official narrative of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Wikipedia

It seems that a reference to the Eglin Air Force study, which I managed to add to the Wikipedia article dealing with the incident, has been surreptitiously removed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing

The Eglin study concluded that several bombs had to have been involved in the damage.

The reference stayed there for quite a while. Now the text only makes some passing, biased-sounding references to alternative theories:

"As with other large-scale terrorist attacks, conspiracy theories dispute the official claims and allege the involvement of additional perpetrators."

"A variety of conspiracy theories have been proposed about the events surrounding the bombing. Critics allege that individuals in the government, including President Bill Clinton,[221][222] knew of the impending bombing and intentionally failed to act on that knowledge. Additional theories focus on the possibility of additional explosives within the building and additional conspirators involved with the bombing.[223] It is also believed that the bombing was done by the government to frame the militia movement or enact antiterrorism legislation while using McVeigh as a scapegoat.[221][222][224][225] Experts have disputed the theories and government investigations have been opened at various times to look into the theories.[224][226][227]"

True to form

'Experts have disputed the theories and government investigations have been opened at various times to look into the theories.'

Well, that's good enough for me! Thanks, Wikipedia!

If the theory fits, you must resubmit

Vesa,

resubmit with the actual evidence of the Oklahoma City news media reporting the Justice Department and bomb squad confirming that two additional bombs were found in the Murrah building, and that the media also reported that both of the discovered unexploded devices were larger than the first bomb and that one of the additional found bombs was defused.

Wiki says, “Experts have disputed the theories and government investigations have been opened at various times to look into the theories.”

Well, the government investigation into the Oklahoma bombing says "questions remain unanswered" and that the FBI was "not justified in calling off any further investigation":

Last December a US Congressional report found no conclusive evidence of a wider conspiracy, but the report concluded that "questions remain unanswered and mysteries remain unsolved."

The report by the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House International Relations Committee said the FBI was "not justified in calling off any further investigation" into McVeigh's possible accomplice, and concluded that more investigation was needed. -- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/conspiracy_files/6275147.stm

Also mention former FBI deputy assistant director Danny Coulson calling for a new investigation into the Oklahoma City bombing, as reported in the BBC link above.

Resubmit with the Oklahoma City media coverage, the conclusion of the Congressional investigation and the new evidence of FBI tampering with the CCTV tapes.

If you look at the Talk page...

... you may see why trying to refer to the things you mention might be in vain. Could you or someone with more resources than me (at the moment) look into this?

New Assignment for DNotice.org?

Vesa,

I had the same problem with my NORAD edits on Wiki. The editor kept taking it down. The editor wanted something that was official and current as of September 11, 2001. When I produced the April 2000 Air Force instruction on America's air defense mission (which was in effect on September 11, 2001), the editor accepted that and let my edits stand.

I'll see what I can do.

Ok

I was able to add the reference to the Eglin study only after I had ordered a copy of that study for myself. They wouldn't believe that such a study had been published!

I returned this to the article:

Some theories focus on the possibility of additional explosives within the building and additional conspirators involved with the bombing.[1]Critics of the official account have pointed to a retired U.S. explosives expert, Brigadier General Benton K. Partin, who stated that the size of the blast was not consistent with the bomb used by McVeigh.[2], or to a blast effects study published in 1997 by the Eglin Air Force Base, which concluded that the damage to the Murrah building was "not the result of the truck bomb itself, but rather due to other factors such as locally placed charges within the building itself".[3]

You, as well as anyone else, can contribute further.

Eglin comes to the rescue!

Vesa,

good work! I didn't know about the Wright Laboratory, Eglin Air Force Base study.

Someone I've been

Someone I've been corresponding with writes this:

-------------
Remember, the FBI was unable to figure out where McVeigh bought the fuel oil. They were ready to go to trial without knowing that. A few weeks before the trial, reporters from Playboy identified the seller.

http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/mcveigh/moreconspirator...

is an excellent backgrounder on McVeigh's ties to others - and there werequite a few others who were never spoken of, named or investigated in the mainstream.

McVeigh was not a patsy, he was one actor. But he took the bullet for thewhole team, and the FBI let him do so. My impression is that they were more afraid of telling people that there was armed, organized opposition to the government than they were of letting a few fish swim away.
-------------

Let Them Escape To Bomb Another Day?

Victronix,

the few fish that swam away were FBI informants. That is why they were allowed to swim away, otherwise they would have been arrested immediately before they set off other bombs! Remember, the bomb that was used in the first WTC attack in 1993 was made under the supervision of the FBI! The whole patriot militia movement of the 1990s was a government-run operation, which is why the FBI kept clear of them:

The reluctance to deal with right-wing militants is also evident in government agencies like the FBI. During congressional hearings following the Oklahoma City bombing, FBI director Louis Freeh alleged that the FBI had not investigated or engaged in surveillance of the various militias because they had not been violent or broken the law. Freeh said, as reported in the May 3, 1995, Washington Post: "For two decades, the FBI has been at an extreme disadvantage with regard to domestic groups that advocate violence. We have no intelligence or background information on them until their violent talk becomes deadly action."

Yet for years the FBI has collected "intelligence" or background information on nonviolent groups which are either centrist or left of center. In 1994, the Center for Constitutional Rights requested data under the Freedom of Information Act on 15 organizations, including ACT UP, Clergy and Laity Concerned, and Jewish and pacifist organizations. The CCR received information from the FBI concerning six of these 15 groups. -- http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1374/is_n6_v55/ai_17529286/pg_3/?...

If the militia movement of the 1990s were a real movement (and not an FBI creation) and had managed to place bombs in the Murrah Federal Building, the Clinton administration would have revealed this information, effectively destroying the movement then and there.
