Gaithersburg, Md. -- The Commerce Department's National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) will hold a media briefing and live
public webcast on Aug. 21, 2008, in Gaithersburg, Md., on the findings
and recommendations from its building and fire safety investigation of
the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 (WTC 7). WTC 7 was a
47-story building that fell nearly seven hours after the World Trade
Center (WTC) towers collapsed following the terrorist attacks of Sept.
11, 2001.
The NIST WTC 7 report will present the probable collapse sequence for
the building and will provide recommendations for improving building
and fire safety in other buildings similar to WTC 7. The draft WTC 7
investigation report released at the briefing will be open for public
comment through noon Eastern Daylight Time on Sept. 15, 2008.
Shyam Sunder, director of the NIST Building and Fire Research
Laboratory and lead investigator for the federal building and fire
safety investigation of the World Trade Center disaster, will present
the report and answer questions from reporters at the briefing. The
public will be able to view the briefing through a live webcast that
will be accessible from NIST's WTC Web site at http://wtc.nist.gov

According to NIST, in WTC 7, "at any given location the combustibles needed about 20 minutes to be consumed" (1). How could a 20-minute fire exposure in any way weaken fireproofed construction steel?

The following ridiculous exchange took place in the NIST conference call last December (I have emphasized the most ridiculous parts):
Bill Grosshandler: "The second thing is, don't forget that once the fire front passes, you still have a lot of -- lot of heat there. So the cool down period following the consumption of most of the fuel is still very, very hot and will last for a couple hours. So, THAT ADDS TO THE HEATING OF THE STRUCTURE. "
Shyam Sunder: "Yeah, and that's a very good point, Bill. The fire front moves, but the heated elements DON'T COOL DOWN."
Sigh. Of course, a cooling steel does not experience further temperature increase!
and even if it did....
how did that cause the rest of the building to collapse when there were 47 undamaged massive steel core columns running all the way up?
Why was there molten steel under all three buildings weeks later?

well important information if true is all well and good, but what did your post have to do with NIST releasing their report?

Okay---you got me--and frankly i dont like it when others post items that aren't relevant either!
So, I apologize. However, I do not know how to "post news" myself and I sent it to REprehensor and hadn't seen anything so i thought i'd just add it in the comment section of the last bit of news posted at the time.
Since then, I asked REp. why it wasn't covered yet---what i was missing out on here and he responded to me. And, I guess I have to agree with him. This story really breaks down to a drug charge. HOWEVER, I personally think it is important to follow up on this. I mean for supposedly selling less than an ounce i think earlier that night, the leader of our WAC group has his house broken in by the SWAT team? What the heck!? Doesn't that seem a bit excessive? I just really doubt that if someone else sold a little weed they would be faced with similar situation. I COULD BE WRONG but i just thought it seems he is being targeted for more than a little weed. They way in which these "professionals" handeled themselves while in this man's home---raiding it with two children sleeping in bed pointing guns at them and so on---I just think maybe it is good for us to watch each others backs. You know, look out for each other! I'm not saying anything about pot here. But, a WAC leader has been treated horribly and i think as truthers, we should at least be aware of it. that is all.
Sorry to offend anyone by filling up the endless space provided here with something that does not pertain to the topic posted. Didn't think it was that big of a crime. Next time, i will do my best to figure out how to post news myself.

Any attention to Bldg 7 is bad for them
and any explanation given to explain away the controlled demolition will be woefully inadequate.

which will include Dr. Frank Legge, Kevin Ryan, James Gourley, Eric Douglas, myself and others...
I will look to see:
1. Did they address our concerns as published in peer-reviewed papers? Do they reference these papers? (In particular, the Open Civil Engineering Journal paper and the Environmentalist paper...) These are published, refereed papers and cannot be ignored.
2. Do they address the possibility of explosives? Did they look for residues?
3. Did they model the total collapse, or just the initiation?
4. Do they address the corroded/sulfided beam from WTC 7 described and published by Barnett et al? Is the thermite/thermate hypothesis considered?

I will state here categorically - no mention whatsoever will be made of those papers. And, absolutely guaranteed, no press person in attendance will bring them up. And if a truth mole somehow tunnels past everything into the Event and brings up those papers directly, the response will be a shrug and a smirk "I'm not aware of this material you're trying to cite. Another questioner please."
I sent NIST our paper,
shortly after its publication in April, and requested to speak to them. They did not directly reply. But they have received the paper.
The response we're planning now is a written one, to address their written report...
