"A group of protesters closed down a section of 16th street north of the White House, the D.C. police department announced.

"16th Street is CLOSED south of K street NW due to protesters. MPD is on scene. Avoid area," the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) tweeted Monday.

With their tweet, the MPD included a photo of a group of protesters holding peace signs and models of predator drones.

The MPD reported that the protest cleared about an hour after it started.
