Hello Truthseekers & Truthtellers,
I came across this blog on the Veterans for 9/11 Truth Yahoo Groups blog site and it gives the name of the "young man" that Norman Mineta was refering to in his testimony to the 9/11 Commission regarding Dick Cheney's actions the morning of 9/11. I was wondering if anyone else heard of this name (David F Cochrane) as being the "young man" who said, "Do the orders still stand?". Here's a paste of the blog:

During testimony given to the 9/11 Commission, then Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta had the following exchange with 9/11 commissioner Lee Hamilton regarding the plane coming into the Pentagon:

MR. MINETA: ¦There was a young man who had come in and said to the vice president, "The plane is 50 miles out. The plane is 30 miles out.  And when it got down to, "The plane is 10 miles out,  the young man also said to the vice president, "Do the orders still stand?  And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?  ¦
MR. HAMILTON: The flight you're referring to is the “
MR. MINETA: The flight that came into the Pentagon.
MR. HAMILTON: The Pentagon, yeah.
The 9/11 Commission would assert that the military 'had at most one or two minutes to react  to Flight 77 before it hit the Pentagon, however, Mineta's testimony indicates that they had 10 to 12 minutes, leading many to suspect the orders were stand-down orders. They omitted Mineta's testimony from both their final report and the official version of the video record, however, they did imply Mineta was mistaken, stating that the discussion between Cheney and the aide occurred later than he claimed, and that it was referencing a shoot-down order for Flight 93, which crashed in a Pennsylvania field.

So, were the orders for a stand-down or a shoot-down? As pointed out by 9/11 researcher 'jimd3100 ³:

Even if the 9-11 Commission is correct, when they claim he arrived at 10:07 (according to the White House) Mineta makes it clear the order was given before he got there. There was no shoot down order given before 10:07. The 9-11 Commission seems to admit this.
¦It seems very clear from the evidence that no shoot down order was given until 10:20 and none relayed to the military until 10:31. Which means if an order was given before 10:20 there is no reason to believe it was a shoot down order. Which would seem to indicate it was a stand down.
Now thanks to recent research by 'jimd3100 ³ we know that a one David F. Cochrane was the naval aide Mineta was referring to. When 9/11 activist Jeff Hill followed up and phoned Cochrane, asking him what the orders were, Cohrane replied that he was 'really not prepared to talk about this subject at all.  Jeff then pleaded with Cohrane to ease his mind about whether the orders were stand-down orders, to which Cohrane replied that he had 'nothing further to add  to the information already publicly available. Hill then asked Cohrane if he thought answering his questions would get Cheney in trouble, Cohrane paused, and then stated that 'The 9/11 Commission Report is the authoritative narrative on the events surrounding 9/11. 

As it turns out, it is against the law for Cohrane to say anything else because his interview with the 9/11 Commission has been classified.

We need to be allowed to view Cohrane's testimony, but even if he says the orders were shoot-down orders, the fact remains that after seeing the second tower struck at 9:03 AM the National Military Command Center realized there was 'a coordinated terrorist attack on the United States,  but yet shoot-down orders were not relayed to the military until 10:31.

A document recently discovered in the National Archives shows that, in a memo to the 9/11 Commission's chairman and vice-chairman on false statements made by NORAD and FAA officials about the failure of US air defenses, the commission's Executive Director Philip Zelikow failed to mention the possibility of a criminal referral. This supports allegations that Zelikow 'buried  the option of a criminal referral by the commission to the Justice Department for a perjury investigation. The document was found at the National Archives by History Commons contributor paxvector and posted to the History Commons site at Scribd.
Initially, the FAA and NORAD claimed that the FAA had notified NORAD of the third hijacked flight 13 minutes before it hit the Pentagon and that it had also notified NORAD of the fourth plane, which NORAD then allegedly tracked until it crashed in Pennsylvania. After working for a year and analyzing documents and audio recordings, the commission formed the opinion that the FAA had given NORAD much less notice and that the fourth plane had never been tracked. The staff also thought that the FAA and NORAD officials who had made the false statements must have known they were false when they made them, and wanted the issue to be referred to the proper authorities for investigation.

6. Appeal for indictments by Dr. Robert Bowman (USAF Ret.)

Col. Robert Bowman is on record with strong words regarding these events:

The cabal of neoconservatives at PNAC [Project for the New American Century, see below] who planned this war (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Libby, Perle, Jeb Bush) even before W [George W. Bush] became president, knew the American people would not stand for it unless there was a new Pearl Harbor. 9/11 supplied that. Our government was warned ¦ They were warned by 11 other countries. And they were specifically warned by an FBI agent that [some group] was planning on flying a hijacked airliner into the World Trade Center.

They not only ignored the warnings, they made sure no fighter jets were scrambled to stop it. If they had just done nothing, and allowed normal procedures to be followed, the Twin Towers would still be standing and thousands of dead Americans would still be alive ¦.

As a pilot who flew 101 combat missions in Vietnam, I can tell you that the best thing our government can do for its combat veterans is to quit making more of them. Peace is patriotic; a preemptive war is immoral, illegal, unconstitutional, a war crime, and treason. I swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic ¦.

Impeachment of civil officers of the United States for 'high Crimes and Misdemeanors  is provided in the U.S. Constitution:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

"The repeated questioning of Cheney by the young man whether "the orders still stand" had to be about whether the order NOT to destroy the approaching plane still stood. Given the two prior attacks against the Twin Towers using the commercial airliners as weapons, an order to destroy the plane approaching the Pentagon would be the only order to give and would not be subject to question by the young man as the plane approached. Furthermore, had Cheney's order been to fire on the plane approaching the Pentagon (which first came near the White House), the anti-aircraft capacity of the Pentagon (or White House), would have sufficed to take out that plane, and certainly to have attempted to take out that plane. Since the Langley/Norfolk jets are at least 10 minutes away and out of range, Cheney's order is about the on-site Pentagon or White House defenses. Neither a shoot-down nor an attempted shoot-down occurred, and since Mineta d's not speak of a last-second change in orders by Cheney, the only supportable conclusion is that Cheney's order was NOT to defend the Pentagon, an order so contrary to both common sense and military defense that it, and it alone, explains the repeated questioning by the young man."
There are several reasons why Cheney's behavior matters, but first and foremost is that Vice President Dick Cheney is in the command position in defending the Pentagon as the airliner approaches. To appreciate the significance of this fact it helps to return to the basics
