WeAreChangeLA calls KPFK's Don Bustany about U.S./Israeli false-flag ops, historical/contemporary, interrupted/'successful'

On the 8/13/08 edition of the weekly show "Middle East in Focus" on KPFK, the Pacifica affiliate here in LA, host Don Bustany had on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Roy Gutman, who recently authored "How We Missed the Story: Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban and the Hijacking of Afghanistan."

They had a wide-ranging discussion about the history of US involvement with the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan and the resultant evolution of Al-Qaeda. If it had stayed there, I probably wouldn't have called in, because there were many other things to do that night. But, Gutman kept making the leap from that to the logical outcome of "and then 9-11 happened because of that and Clinton and Bush "missing the story."" Being a fledgling citizen journalist, I felt it was my responsibility to call in and fill in the explanatory gap left in the absence of any mention of false-flag operations by Western intelligence agencies to be blamed on Middle Easterners.

Bustany appreciated my input and responded by calling attention to the, in many cases, crucial role of corporate motive in these types of operations.
