Texas Resident Arrested on Charge of Attempted Use of Weapon of Mass Destruction

Source: http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2011/February/11-nsd-235.html

WASHINGTON – Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20, a citizen of Saudi Arabia and resident of Lubbock, Texas, was arrested late yesterday by FBI agents in Texas on a federal charge of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction in connection with his alleged purchase of chemicals and equipment necessary to make an improvised explosive device (IED) and his research of potential U.S. targets.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the complaint, Aldawsari has been researching online how to construct an IED using several chemicals as ingredients. He has also acquired or taken a substantial step toward acquiring most of the ingredients and equipment necessary to construct an IED and he has conducted online research of several potential U.S. targets, the affidavit alleges. In addition, he has allegedly described his desire for violent jihad and martyrdom in blog postings and a personal journal.

Official: Insurgents say al Qaeda planning U.S., Europe attacks

Washington (CNN) -- Iraqi authorities have shared information obtained from captured insurgents who claim al Qaeda is planning suicide attacks in the United States and Europe during the Christmas holiday season, a U.S. official said Thursday.

The official said the threat report is being taken seriously, but there is no intelligence indicating there is a specific or credible threat against the U.S. homeland. But, the official added, al Qaeda in Iraq remains a dangerous force.

Is WikiLeaks engaged in 'cyber war'?

This is is the headline on CNN this morning: Is WikiLeaks engaged in 'cyber war'? source: http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/innovation/12/09/wikileaks.cyber.attacks/index.html?hpt=C1

Cyber war has been declared because of the wiki leaks.

There are some similarities between 911 and WLeaks:
1) Central 'bad guy' figure (Julian Assange vs Osama Bin Laden)
2) Incredible (ie not credible) lapse of US security for attack to take place (Lady Gaga CD vs. NORAD stand down)
3) Good excuse to take away liberties when no reason previously existed
4) Suspicious connections to the CIA (http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2010/12/assange-rape-accuser-cia-ties/ vs Al Qaeda in Afghanistan)

I've also read some stories on Alex Jones and CNN about attacks on PayPal and Mastercard. I'd guess it would take very skilled and organized people to accomplish such an attack so quickly. Again a government agency such as the CIA comes to mind.

Finally, it is a constitutional right to publish information obtained from a whistle blower and in fact in the US laws have been made to protect the source of the story.

Ahmadinejad tells U.N. most blame U.S. government for 9/11

Source: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE68M55W20100923

(Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the United Nations on Thursday most people believe the U.S. government was responsible for the attacks of September 11, 2001, prompting the U.S. delegation to leave the room in protest.

In his speech to the General Assembly, Ahmadinejad said it was mostly U.S. government officials who believed the Islamist militant group al Qaeda was behind the suicide hijacking attacks that brought down New York's World Trade Center and hit the Pentagon.

Another theory, he said, was "that some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime." Ahmadinejad usually refers to Israel as the "Zionist regime."

Is Al Qaeda about to be mothballed?

From NPR news this morning:

As Support Fades, Al-Qaida Shows Signs Of Decline

There is a lot of reporting on how terrorist groups get started and how they develop, but very little about how they end. Obama administration officials have been saying for weeks that its drone attacks over the past year have got al-Qaida on the run, but experts say it isn't just drone attacks that are weakening al-Qaida. The group is defeating itself.

The Ways A Group Can End

Audrey Kurth Cronin, a professor at the National Defense University, lists the way such movements end.

"There are different ways that groups end, and those include decapitation, the capture or the killing of the leader," she said. "Sometimes negotiations can help lead to the end -- success which is, by the way, relatively rare; failure where groups lose popular support; and finally reorientation of the violence of a group."

The IndictBushNow movement has captured the imagination and support of hundreds of thousands of people.

This is a grassroots movement and it is a classic example of the people acting together to defend democracy and the Constitution from government law-breakers.

The struggle for government accountability has entered a new phase. This movement needs your active participation.

Powerful corporate forces who have bowed in the past to pressure from the Bush-Cheney gang are now trying to block this movement from getting our message out.

IndictBushNow had spent weeks communicating with CBS representatives for the launch in Washington, D.C., for our wrap-around bus ads that read: "TORTURE is not just wrong ... it is ILLEGAL. Because NO ONE is above the law," followed by our organization's website address.

Bomber did us a favor - Thomas Kean, the Republican who chaired the bipartisan 9/11 Commission

From CNN (http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/)

Kean: Unsuccessful bomber 'probably did us a favor'

Washington (CNN) – The man who led the federal government’s inquiry into the intelligence lapses leading up to the September 11, 2001 terror attacks said Sunday that the Obama administration is plagued by the same problems the Bush administration had more than eight years ago.

Thomas Kean, the Republican who chaired the bipartisan 9/11 Commission, said Obama counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan had sounded “a bit defensive,” in an interview that had just aired on CNN’s State of the Union.

Kean said Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab, the 23-year-old Nigerian who failed in his attempt to set off an explosive on an airplane about to land in Detroit, “probably did us a favor.”

How Fair are We?

Yes I know this touches on a sensitive issue, but damn it, it’s important!!

Examine the following two statements:

1) Muslims attacked us on 911.

2) Jews attacked us on 911.

Both of these statements say exactly the same thing; that members of a particular religious group attacked us. The first statement strikes me as being normal. The second strikes me as being offensive. However, if they are equivalent statements, both should be equally offensive, or neither should be offensive at all.

What does this say about how we are conditioned in America? We perceive ourselves as being rational and fair, but the simple comparison shows us we are not.

Update on WTC7 collapse computer simulation FOIA

Lawyer letter has been sent to NIST requesting ANSYS computer model of WTC 7 collapse:

Dear NIST FOIA Office:

I am writing on behalf of our client, Mr. Geoffrey Walter Ritchey,
regarding the current status of the above referenced FOIA matter,
which was received by your office on February 4, 2009. My review of
the correspondence file in this matter indicates that our client sent
your office payment for processing the ANSYS computer data for this
request back in February ‘09, and that Mr. Ritchey has made numerous
email follow-up inquiries to your office regarding the status of your

this FOIA request.

As you may know FOIA requires all federal agencies to make a final
determination on all FOIA requests within 20 working days, and the
2007 FOIA amendments expressly require a responding agency to provide
a requester with an estimated date for a final determination on a FOIA
request. See 5 USC 552(a)(7)(B)(ii). Therefore, I would appreciate
your assistance in either providing a final response to this FOIA
request at this time, or in providing a date by which our client can

This letter is in response to your February 4, 2008, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) #09-48 request to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in which you requested a copy of "Case B input and output from the ANSYS analysis as described on page 35 ofNCSTAR lA, The Final Report on the Collapse of World Trade Center Building 7."
