Twenty years ago the legalized pot movement was about as "grass-roots" as you could get. It was subject to major ridicule. Sustained as much name-calling, lunatic-comparing, and media derision as any other fringe movement. Police are against it, lawmakers are against it, teachers, ministers, and parents are against it. The supporters were jailed, fined, and considered the dregs of society. It has been considered so morally defunct that jobs, families, and futures have be destroyed by belonging to this cause. Fully equating oneself with it was (and still technically is) illegal.

But it is succeeding, and with that, 911 Truth should find a blast of hope.

I've written about electoral politics and the failure of activism (of many worthy types, not just 911 Truth activism) from time to time, at 911 blogger, JREF, and elsewhere. E.g., recently, I wrote a diary here, and commented here.

Even though I'm all over the map, politically, and don't like categorizing myself (other than independent), the blogs and fora that deal with electoral politics, that I follow, are on the progressive side of things. (I'm also a member of the Progressive Democrats of America, even though I've never been a Democrat. Make of that what you will. :-) ). Conservative web sites that I have long considered 'best of breed' are amconmag.com and chroniclesmagazine.org, but they don't have much to say about electoral politics.

brings 9-11 Truth in a big way to anti-war rally in Los Angeles. Somewhere between 40 and 50 members of WACLA showed up, all of whom were holding 9-11 Truth signs or were helping to hold our massive blue banners. We had more participants than any other organization.

9-11 Truth is the strongest way to bring an end to the current wars in the Middle East - wars which are slaughtering millions of innocent people.

This was inspired by a snarkier, debunker-laden thread called The Greatest Fiascos of the 9-11 "Truth" Movement

Here's my list:

1) Failure to investigate 911 hijacker associations, where such investigations require no state power, whatsoever. Indeed, the failure is worse than that - there was never (AFAIK) even any attempt to organize a fundraiser for such investigations. I'm thinking particularly of verifying and/or dis-confirming the work of Daniel Hopsicker (madcowprod.com), but also looking into, e.g., who the hijackers were schmoozing with in NJ, the reports suggesting Saudi intelligence handlers of 2 of the hijackers in San Diego, etc.

The new album by Monsters of Folk, comprised of four frontmen for other groups including Jim James of My Morning Jacket, have crafted a superb album that includes a song with a nod to the 9/11 debate.

The song is called baby boomer here is the relevant section:

"And we gotta stand a little closer
To the lessons that we’ve learned
Is it just a premonition?
Could we really get ourselves both burned?

The realization that 9/11 was an inside job and that the global elite are on the fast track to a new world order is a potentially paralyzing downer. However, there is within the Truth Movement a joyous bunch. Street Activists; we are not a glum lot.

WeAreChangeLA has been in existence for two years now. In that relatively short time we have learned a few lessons. Both Bruno and I came to the job of organizing 9/11 Truth activities with some management and production experience, so we had a bit of a head start. Still, the people we serve are a passionate and demanding group of individuals, and we have made our share of mistakes. This article is meant to lay out what, in our experience, works. We hope that you will find it helpful with the organizing of your groups.

This is an interesting press release on how "The Yes Men" bring attention to their causes, and shame the authorities. Any lessons for 9/11 Truth here?

Just by itself, NANOTHERMITE CHANGES EVERYTHING makes a potent social consciousness thought bomb.

They can be large or small, but most importantly they need to be EVERYWHERE. We need a mass social awakening before the next 9/11.
